I watch him and I wonder how, too. He does know how to use his body, though. In an officiated game, especially the NBA, he uses his hips to create space from his defender and that gives him some room to extend for those layups. I think this led to his hip issues and hip surgery.
This is why I don't care much for the NBA any longer. Isiah is one of the best ever at his size, but the league does not appreciate the small guy. I was a small point guard also, so I understand what he's had to go through.
