never been to Boston nor am I a Celtic’s fan but I loved watching this guy because he was the smallest player but also the best, sucks that we can’t see him play in the NBA rn, hoping and praying that changes soon though
Facts. Absolutely. During that season and that playoff run he was the heart and soul of this city. We grieved with him and he took us on a ride we'll never forget.
I was at this game - Loge 15 row 25. It was amazing. Goosebumps re-watching it years later. Recent IN THE RAFTERS Podcast episode with IT just dropped, and it had me reliving this all over again, hearing his words describe it 6+ years later. IT was a fighter and performed at his best in crunch time, when every possession mattered even more than the previous one - he represented something that each and every one of us can strive to emulate. Thanks IT
Something hit different about the Isaiah Thomas days of the Celtics. Regardless of whether he got a chip or not, Thomas brought some great memories to Boston in his time on the team.
I wish this is how everyone was capable of and commanded to experience hardships. Life always has plenty of potential to offer moments like these, and how you indulge yourself within the pain and reality of it... THAT is what truly determines so much more than just your days to come.
They paid low low for him, and traded him for a very high sum of money and big time players knowing full well he just had an injury that the celtics did nit disclose isaiah was entitled to his 200 million dollar contract that year but the celtics knew he was injured so they traded him resulting in isaiah getting like 8 mill that year from the wizards so if you think about it boston not only screwed over the wizards by trading a player without disclosing his injuries, but they also technically stole his money as well because they traded him for multi millions due to him being injured (which wasnt even a career ending type of injury at all) so they not only got out of paying him his big time veteran pay which wouldve been his first big money bag contract and instead the franchise ends up getting millions. Isaiah gave his heart dedication and raw talent to keep their franchise alive and not fall to a bottom seed teaam and they not just discarded him they swindled him and another franchise to come up. On paper yeah Kyrie for isaiah sounds like a good trade but you cant buy the type of player is that isaiah is inside of him. His heart is genuine and his intentions are selfless and pure he just wants to ball at the highest level and give back to his community and help other kids who were told they'd never succeed following their dreams. A 5'9 point guard who proved the world wrong by simply putting in years and years of hard work, dedication, and when givin the opportunity never choked. He was the very last pick in his draft and he ended up saving a whole franchise, and giving hope and love to a city who simply welcomed him so he was never going to let them down boston is the cause of so much gratefulness love but also hurt and betrayal for him, but if given the opportunity he will always forgive and forget what the franchise and front office did to him for the fans of boston who showed him how much love they had for him because he showed them love.
Nah bro it’s so fucked up what they did to him , he’s my fav player ever so it sucked to see it happen but man those years where he had full control of the offense were fun asf. he was a mvp candidate at one point
There’s no loyalty in business and especially the NBA, it’s a results oriented business and it’s what can you do for me now and not what have you done before. IT is my favorite Celtic all time but after that Cavs series Danny Ainge knew before any of us how badly damaged his hip was and had to capitalize on getting the most return possible before anybody else realized it. Yes he deserved the bag for what he did but again this is a business, that would’ve been a bad investment for the future of the business of the Boston Celtics.
Idk if anyone outside of Massachusetts could even remotely understand how much this guy meant to this city and this team while he was here

"Once I leave this gym I hit reality and she's not here." Damn.
This match was personal. Sometimes it’s more than just a game.
This guy means so much to the city of Boston. His jersey should be retired, he did so much for that team in his relatively short time there.
This is one of my favorite NBA games of all time YOU CAN’T TEACH PASSION!
never forget how good he was in his prime

MVP chant you can hear my voice
i remember this as a kid, but i had to come back after that Knuckleheads podcast
Goosebumps. What a game
This dude is on another level tough. When something like this happens, it’s beyond thought to even play a game, better yet a meaningful playoff game.
They should've chose him over Kyrie.
Holy fuck man. Such a special moment. I'll never forget it. You're an inspiration bro.
I knew he was short for an nba player but not 5'9". Makes me feel lazy knowing I could have made an attempt at an nba career. Guy is an inspiration.

Celtics really got rid of him for Kyrie instead of trusting him now Kyrie fucked over the franchise. Hopefully Jayson Tatum brings it back.
Celtics got bad karma for trading him
Still can’t believed Ainge traded this absolute dawg
No team is giving him the respect he deserves! Boston Celtics just show you they have no loyalty!
