Wondering the reason why Asian kids are doing much better than Caucasian, black or Latino students in America? Even Asian kids are racially separated from others in an academic environment. As a matter of fact, kids in the U.S. can't even read properly in English after they graduated from high schools. From this...why the U.S. is still a technological giant? It is because the U.S. is relying on foreign born scientists--mostly from East Asia and South Asia.
Because of Asian students spend almost 8 - 9 hours in learning? In China, many students study until night, Malaysia and Taiwan students have to attend tuition classes even they are already pretty good in their academic subjects. But I thought the western countries have better education system than Asian countries?
@@sktpikachu9729 Studying hard is only part of it. Explaining why the Chinese kids in China had an i.q. of 100 more than 25 years ago is no easy task. It might not mean much; but those kids were living in an extreme poverty. We all agree that environment has an impact on a person's i.q. but you just can't apply it to Chinese kids.
I think it is.hard to say they have learnt. This school is just a starting point of they getting to know different culture, especially they are still in China. When they have a chance to return to their own countries, they will find more cruel and brutal truths and challenges from their societies and hopefully they will be able to cope with them
Elite education does give these kids a much better jump start in life. Compared with their peers, they possess skill sets and mindset that will surely help them become leaders on a global platform. On the part of kids from middle-class or underprivileged background, a sense of futility and hopelessness will inevitably be felt. But hopefully, kids of all walks of life will find their true calling in life. After all, one of the most important purposes of education is to let kids find a place in the world where they feel most comfortable, being themselves and making a difference to humanity.
It’s hard to change the current education system, though it is unfair to some degree. At the same time I do admire those children who have so many talents and creativity under elite education, and for sure they will have bright futures.
Inequality is in everywhere, it's is sad, but for those that have the opportunity to get a better education, hope they can appreciate what they have, and stay humble :).
I have been an international student (was based in Shanghai too) throughout grades 1 to 12, and I just want to share that not everyone is as elite as those captured in the video. We divided each cohort into 4 classes by academic performance, so basically, the upper 2 classes are full of elite kiddos, and the lower 2 (where I was in) were just the average kids. We skip schools often especially in high school, hitting a nearby mall for pools/bowling was our daily to-do. It was a lot of freedom, wherever you want to be is really based on your effort and self-control. And I do hope I studied more back then, like now I am fully employed as a software engineer but I also don't know how to train an AI model.
These are undoubtedly some amazing kids but more than their talents and resources I envy their perspective on the world from growing up in an international environment. I hope they retain their curiosity and respect for different cultures, those less fortunate their own, throughout their life time.

Hi teacher Mike, thanks for your hard work to create the video. You were frequently recommended the youtube, this is my first time watching the whole video since you made a very good topic, I learned a lot form your video, thanks again. Wish you success.
Just in case for your curiosity, their tuition for kindergarten is around 40K USD per year ; from Grade 1-12 around 50K USD per year plus if you want your kid to go to a better college you will have to add another 70K to go to Ivy leagues. Therefore you are going to cost 1 million USD just for the tuition fee. Counting on Extracurricular,Food, Exercise, Travel, "after school clubs", if you want to raise a kid in this way from 3-22, we are talking about 2 million USD. Repeat after me, two million us dollars.

These kids are so confident!!!
Hi teacher Mike, thanks for your hard work to create the video. You were frequently recommended the youtube, this is my first time watching the whole video since you made a very good topic, I learned a lot form your video, thanks again. Wish you success.

Best channel I’ve ever subscribed! Thanks Mike 老师!
Huge differences between ordinary school and this international school. This YCIS is respecting diversity. Kids are encouraged to do their intrerest.
Jesus Christ, I've been to plenty of start-up pitches, and all I'll say is that helmet kid is going places!
Not bad for a 6th grader, right?
Wow the learning system of the school is so GREAT!
🇵🇭
OMG... 。。
