Great video..I have seen you work videos before and you do well.
Question, I have a 2006 i am debating buying from an auction with a valet key immobilzer similar issue.
The valet key des have a chip in, what does that mean?
However i did scan it and i didnt take a photo and so dont have it as i write you, but i believe it said key not programmed correctly.
I will have to research vcds how to reprogram a valet key but have not done that yet.
And i will pursue what you have has well though with the antenna ring etc..
Also VAGtacho? Is that a universal key programmer and does it take a subscription? Do you have a link for that?
    Your thoughts

Boy, boy the car is rough, I would consider just deleting the immobilizer and call it good enough. Nice video.

I cannot do Immo delete on 2.0. Have to pull engine computer, disassemble, unsolder chip, read with eprom reader, then change the "software" then write to chip then resolder ship, then reinstall. Its easer to fix the car on this one,.

I believe the customer purchased it in this condition. Someone was also working on it before.

Sorta of related question. I have a 2001 Cabrio that previous owner had a shop yank out the IMMO after a heater core replacement and a non funtion start, Long story, which is separate from the cluster. I purchased a used one of same required model so i could at least read the ECU of which you can not without it. I would like to join it to the ECU but need to get the pin out of it to do so. I have the original ECU with out the IMMO delete as the last owner purchased a unit with the delete. Is there any way you know of to get the pin out of the IMMO other than removing the chip and trying to read the HEX? Love your channel its com in handy as I own several VW, 2 TDI a mk1 rabbit pickup and this Cabrio and a few more 2 air cooled as well. Thanks! 👊👊👊👊

there is no way to extract the skc on a 2.0L computer without desoldering the chip from the ECU.

@@CoolAirVw Thanks that's what i figured. I wish the previous owners had not tossed the old IMMO. The problem was it was not grounded. IMMO on this is external the ECU and the Dash board.

late to the comments. but i swapped out my 99 cluster for a 06 cluster in the yard i found.... i never ran into this issue as on the mk3 platform this never was an issue....
can I just put my old cluster i had back in and my car run fine? I dont even want to use the new cluster what so ever.
any help would be greatly appreciated

mk 3 doesn't have immobilizer. sure, if your old one worked it should still work.

So I did the unplug battery, touch positive and negative together for 15 secs. Swapped my old cluster back into the car. Plugged the battery back in and it worked just like it didn't before the cluster swap. Thank God. No ecu immo delete. Saving me a headache. Know I now not to do that anymore.
