We had bigger avocados in Florida and they r hard to find in PNW. Thanks for the inspiration. My neighbor grows them in bags all the time he says the secret is not to let it dry out. We get 17" a year so here it's really easy to forget
Hello dear, you think my avocado tree bear fruit even i planted it just in a pot, bcoz i live in the city where theres no place to do gardening so i did it in a big basin
Hey Daleys the Pinkerton Avo looks like the Shepherd Avo, or am I seeing things. My Backyard isn't huge so this variety would be good for probably large 110L Pot you know the largest plastic pot sold at Bunnings.
I have a 6 years old grafted Pinkerton avocado tree and now 2.5 meter high x 2.5m wide. It looks lush and healthy. But I can only get one or 6 fruits per years over the last 2 years. Though this year there was so much flowers on the tree , only one fruit eventuates on the tree. Can you please advise me what I should do to increase the crop yield? Thanks
Sounds like you're getting little pollination. Is your tree alone or are there other avocado trees near it? Are its friends the same variety? Do pollinators like bees have access to your tree/s?
How is your avo tree now? Did you get another variety of avo tree so you can get some cross pollination? That is prob why and also like the other person said due to bees not being in the area maybe 🤷♀️ If it’s still not getting much fruit soon as you see flowers are blooming and ready for pollination you can always hand pollinate. That’s what I will do with my bacon until I get another few varieties grown and blooming in my yard. They can self pollinate but due to the male and female flowers blooming at different times of the day that is what makes it harder to get fruit from one avo tree apparently. But yeah if ya use a soft paint brush you can do it by hand and you should get tonnes of fruit then
Does anyone want to sell me some avo scions? I have some fruit trees I can swap with some scions too. I have a bacon avo tree I would like to get hass, Pinkerton, wurtz, fuerte etc scions so I can graft onto my rootstock. I have some seedlings I’m growing so I can graft on to them later on. I live not far from Melbourne and it seems to be hard to find anyone down here who has avo trees who will sell scions.
I think those other varieties (apart from Bacon) may grow in Ballarat (just) but probably won't set well as it's too cold/wet in spring when they flower. Hass might be ok if you can get it to grow as it sets really well in Melb and Geelong etc. Fuerte/wurtz grows well in coastal Vic as well but doesn't set well even down in Melb. Good luck 👍🏼
meethu101 oh ok thank you. I was going to do some in pots in greenhouses. That’s why I wanted the dwarf varieties mainly 😊 What about other cold hardy varieties? Do you think Mexicola grande, Lila, Joey etc would do okay? I mean some are more cold hardy than bacon so I might just try them out.
meethu101 I ended up buying a feurte,I regret it now though. But I plan on moving to a warmer area one day in the near future hopefully. So I will keep them in pots for now and use the greenhouse to protect from frosts.
@@NMW80 even 'dwarf' avos are big tress so pots are only temporary solution unless you're happy doing repotting every 2 years. Hass is really good if you can get it to survive vegetatively in a cooler climate as it has good fruit set in cold conditions and very long harvest time. Mexicola is supposed to be cold hardy and good tasting but not easily available in Aus. Feurte is a massive sprawling tree but not very productive in cooler spring climates and has severe alternate bearing even though the tree itself survives in cold weather.
Pinkerton is a great tree!

Very nice sir konsi varaeti hay thanks
Does it need another avocado tree to pollinate? What fertiliser is best for the tree?
Use fish fertiliser

Do you live in Victoria too?
Do you guys sell scions for grafting? If so what sort of avo scions do you sell? And how much each?
They have a website where they sell grafted plants
@@griffinc3263 yep thanks I know now 😊 I now have bought several avocado trees off them.
Very nice sir konsi varaeti hay thanks
how to get or buy the avocado like that, could you tel me?
nice little tree, but you got to prune it every year.
Does this require another avocado to set fruit properly?
I was wondering that but I don’t think so
Not really but having another variety nearby could increase your fruit production by 25% extra 😂 and that's a lot
Where can I get dwarf avocados tree in sydney Australia?
From here www.daleysfruit.com.au/fruit%20pages/avocado.htm
Why can't you eat the fruit the first year and let it grow?
You can eat it it's just that it almost pauses tree growth as it focuses energy into fruit, it can't do both well.
Hi...i love so much it .i want to know that normally how do you treat for it.
we say smaller, they say smowllah
And we say "not", they say "nok"
