Insider trading is wrong but it shouldn’t result in an effective death sentence. Plus the US selectively applies that law. Politicians engage in insider trading all the time. That’s how they get rich.

The PTO/IPO technology has been used by Tesla from before 2012 with regenerative breaking. The same motor used to propel the vehicle is used to generate electricity. In this case, to recharge the battery while slowing the vehicle. Feadship has always been a leader in the marine industry and I am glad to see this technology finally make its way to yachts. Thank you for the info and congrats to Feadship.
QUESTION Yachts with support vessels like Wingman; is the support vessel where the staff stays, where they keep the toys etc so that the main yacht is mainly living quarters for the owner???
As someone who works for one of these fleets, I feel I can answer this for you, In general, no, the crew for the main yacht are based and live aboard the main yacht as the vessels don’t always stay together and the main yacht need all their crew onboard, Having the support vessel allows for extra crew to allow turnover and crew leave to be possible, and even alternating between the yachts, the support yacht will carry extra tenders and toys and do a majority of helicopter operations to allow the main yacht to not have the disruption of the guests
What good are rules if they are not enforced. They should have taken the Yacht or a large enough amount to send a message. $5M for a man that owns a $100M yacht is pocket money. But 100% credit to Sysy for the coverage thank you.
That’s not constitutional that would be a excessive fining someone it’s strictly prohibited by the 8th amendment the punishment has to fit the crime not the person you don’t like
"The punishment should fit the crime" The punishment for insider trading is prison time. Yet this billionaire paid his way out of prison. Peasants protecting their handlers never ceases to amaze me.
I watched Limitless squeak through the bridge opening to Simpson Bay in St Maarten while I was there on a much smaller vessel. (140’) It was a tight fit but she made it.
Confinement 24 hours a day in a self-funded private hospital room at the Mayo Clinic or Cedar Sinai for 3 years would appear to meet all the necessary criteria for both sides, not fresh air and total freedom.
The legal system is really funny... I had a case in court against me once and appeared with a highly competent but unknown lawyer for the first hearing which was a complete debacle so I switched to an extremely well-known law firm (who didn't really care about my case because I am a nobody) and they simply repeated what my previous lawyer already had told the court and yet the judges reaction was a very different!
"some other quick-fire-yacht-spots"- being a long tie follower of this channel, that actually made me laugh. I mean yacht fires are a frequent thing here.
small penalties for a large profits,,, good business again,,, why would age be a reason to scape punishment, and if so old people should not be allowed to make business or do anything that has a chance to commit mistakes if not a crime,,,
a lot of people that have gone to prison should be onhis Yacht for health reasons.maybe the judge should be on his Yacht for relieving the tension of all of his Job.
"prison would be detrimental to his health" ? so what.. ive seen old men on Zimmer frames get prison term.. old men on oxygen masks getting sentences to prison... why is he so much better.... he is not sorry.. he knew what he was doing.. he is only ashamed that he got caught .. tell the lives he has destroyed that prison would not be good for him .. i would argue that prison would effect the health of 100% of the people who enter it i would even go further and say the rich and famous should be treated harsher than us mere mortals... they should know better... they have access the best (lol) legal minds on the planet.. those with the means should even be made to pay for there stay at the governments establishments
He should be under house arrest, as well as the fine. Its just a slap on the hand the fine is big but he wont be bothered as the main one is the company's.
It’s all just peanuts for this scoundrel. You could not fine these guys enough money such that it would even make a dent in their wallet. 3 years suspended. Wow!
Yep, what I thought when he suddenly apologized: just get this out of the way, $5M? Let me check my pockets, $50M for the company (oh, so the company's a fault) basically a tax deduction.
in prison on a superyacht ............... world aint fair ............ bonkers ..../// lucky he wasnt claiming unemployment benefit and working on the side .... that would be ------------ go to prison do not pass go .... ///
Why did they charge his pilots with insider trading? In order to be guilty of insider trading you have to have 1. Inside knowledge, and 2. A duty to keep that knowledge secret. His pilots don't have any duty to the company to keep the info secret.
It sounds like Lewis had the info but because he had already bought into the company, he passed the info to all his "people" so they were the only ones who acted on the insider trading. He benefits b/c they get paid and don't demand as much in compensation.
I don't disagree with the lack of prison time giving the circumstances cited. However, Lewis should have been put under house arrest for the next 3 to 5 years instead of the silly-ass probation which means not-a-damn-thing.
Given his wealth a slap on the wrist. Bet his health doesn't mean there is not a Hot Girlfriend on board and he is having a good time. Jail, screw his age, he can just afford a good lawyer.
No he should not be jailed. That would be a disaster for a lot more people than just him. How is the PTO/PTI motor when being used in PTI mode disconnected from the main engine. I know you can use electric clutches or hydraulic couplings. I am curious on what they have used.
I was going by a shipyard one of these days and I heard a ships horn…I immediately said to myself:

This ferry that the last yacht spot photo was taken from @9:45 . Was is it hundreds of feet tall, and did it have trees growing on it? Just wandering.
The sailing yacht in casablance seems to be BADIS 1, a Perini Navi build, 70 Meters 887 GT
Owned by the King of Morocco
Thank you to all the people who take pictures and send them in. Awesome to see Yersin.
That new yacht looks stunning
Too sick for prison / too sick for cruising.
Lock him up with Leroy and Rastus to be their bitch. It will serve as an example to other "high net worth" dodgy dealers to watch their step.
An odd comparison!! I know which I'd rather have.
The last 2 Yachts are amazing looking.
The Judge made the appropriate decision. In prison the state pays his medical charges while on the outside HE pays for medical.
Thank you, keep working.

There are almost no boats in Maui. Very surprising considering how many people and the amount of wealth.
Really no protected harbors like Pearl. These islands are sea mounts so pretty vulnerable to the Ocean.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. If you want rich folks to stop doing the crime then you absolutely have to incarcerate.
Surely superyachts have brigs.

Enforce the law for all, in addition make it hurt financially. 5 million is personal pocket change, 50 million is an expence for the business.
