I'm coming to this review rather late, but my wired Cloud Alphas just died and was looking to upgrade to a solid headset mostly for gaming. After watching a million different reviews, including a lot from your channel, I'm not sure I've found anything yet that I would be satisfied with. I'm close to pulling the trigger on Razer Blackshark v2 Hyperspeeds because it seems like great value, but there are soooo many complaints about software issues. Now I'm looking into standalone mics and dedicated headsets, and I stumbled upon this, which again seems like a great option and a price I'm comfortable with. I love the sound of the mic as well. My only issue when watching this review seems to be how much background noise was being picked up as you were talking. You could hear your arms impacting the desk, moving the mic around, etc. I'm worried keyboard and mouse sounds would be picked up even more easily, which is something that matters a lot to me.
It's unlikely that you respond to this since the video is so old, but could you give any insights into noise suppression for peripherals? Or should I stick to classic gaming headsets for that sort of thing.

Good discussion, but that desk mount picked up all the times you bumped the desk, which was annoying. Prefer Pd400x to the Q9u. 1st Blue sounds good. Pd400x often on sale for abt $112 USD.

Excellent review. Clear, concise, perceptive. What arm are you using for the microphone - looks very well designed. And what amp / audio interface? Thank you.

Can you make a tutorial on how to use XLR microphones to your PC cheap and easy?

Got one for $105 on Ebay. It was OPEN BOX. Oh my god. Best 105 i ever spent on a Mic. A long time ago I had the AT2020, recently the RODE NT USB+ but i love this mic so much.

pd400x is still a bit too sibilant on your voice. In my ears king bee was a bit more balanced in this regard. I have a pd400x myself and a very sibilant voice aswell

Frequency is up to 16kHz or 20kHz? I've found this second version in some places?

I need to know something, please. I get that XLR is not connected to the DSP. But can you please confirm if the DSP saves the profile on board? Like when you set a compressor in the bundled software then connect the microphone to a android phone, does it keep the setting?

    Great review! 🔥
By the way, I just got mine and try to use it on my mac. Im a newbiew and dont really know what im doing. First issue, I plug the xlr to my 2i2 infereface and it works but can't use any of the controls on the mic. Is that how its supposed to be? Secondly, I plug both xlr and type C and I can use the maono link, but when I use the buttons on the mic, its lighting up but I dont hear any difference. For example, I tried to adjust the gain, and it doesnt seem to do anything. I also adjust the gain through the software and does the same. Am I missing anything, or is this a faulty unit?
    Thanks man!

Once you plug XLR, you loose on-mic functionality. The idea is you should use the audio interface to control it.

PD400X or Rode XDM-100? I know Rode is cost more, but I don't know it's worth it.

How does the maono pd400x compare to the Samson Q9U?

for me Samson cuts too much of Hi freqs.. Maono feels more natural. Also Samson catches white noise instead of Maono.

I agree, the XLR sounded very good! I've been using the PD400X in USB cause idk much abt audio interfaces, can you recommend a budget audio interfaceto run the PD400X in XLR?

Least expensive ones I like are Focusrite, Motu, and Elgato Wave XLR

@@GadgetryTechThanks for the recommendation! I ended up getting the Audient Evo 4, and the mic sounds substantially better!

@@unbiasOrbit Hi, does the mic mute functionality work with the XLR cable? If not, did you do anything to make it so you can mute your microphone easily like a keybind?

@@pdlpost the mute button on the mic doesn't work on XLR mode.. but my audio interface has the feature where i long press a button to mute.. my audio interface is the Audient Evo 4, but you can always find other ones that have a mute button.

@@unbiasOrbit I tried the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen and it was a terrible experience. I will return it and try the Evo 4
