I work in beauty retail and can confirm, FRESH did change the formula of the balm in all shades including clear, many haven’t even noticed how they also no longer have their spf. Yes it is waxier and thicker. They went with the even “cleaner” trend which was disappointing because it lost its buttery-ness
@lynettefinnigan9540 because that's what the "clean" trend is doing, replacing things that work with things that don't. The Beauty Brains podcast often discuss the clean trend.
Aargh. Same thing happened with Byte Beauty. They were my go-to lip balm/lip mask. They went vegan & it just didn't work the same. I replaced Byte with the Fresh clear lip balm (which is outrageously expensive )& it has worked well for me. Most of the lip balms don't work very well at preventing chapped lips & many cause my lips to peel. It's very frustrating. I found that using nipple cream which is just lanolin works amazing over night but I really like the convenience of a standard roll up bullet lip balm. (The ones I just ordered seem fine so maybe Sephora just used whatever was still in stock & I got the original formula) So disappointed 😢
One major reason so many brands are on board with the “clean” trend is bc it removes preservatives often and that means shorter shelf life and customers needing to buy more often. I’m not for it not just bc it hits my wallet harder, but it makes makeup less safe bc bacteria can grow without the preservative ingredients. As a makeup artist it’s a hard no from me if it’s advertising that “clean” aspect bc it can mean giving a client infections etc by accident.
The new formula isn’t BAD in my opinion, and I still love the colors. It is a downgrade though since it isn’t that soft formula anymore. Maybe Lauren wouldn’t mind the minis now that the formula is waxier 😂
I recently got rid of my entire makeup collection because it was a few years old (not yet expired). I gave all of it away to my sons girlfriends. They had such a blast going through everything. But it wasn't getting used fast enough by just myself. Ive really curated my tastes at this point. I started purchasing single shadows from Sidney Grace (her shadows are amazing!) and I curated an entire palette of colors I know work for me. I have three eyeshadow palettes plus my Sydney Grace singles. I had over thirty five pallets and I feel so good that they are being properly used and loved.
Same. I stopped buying palettes & as they aged out, I decluttered them. The palettes I liked I took apart & just kept the shades I liked/used (those probably need to go since Im sure they're beyond expired.) I found Sydney Grace & Terra Moon & other indie brands that sold singles & bundles & made my own curated palettes & that's what I use. I only buy makeup when something needs to be replaced. Mascara, concealer, brow products, lip balm & liner pencils.
Because I love this channel I'm not going to be bitter about the mention of the Clinique Pop Blushes and Physician's Formula bronzer (aka my babies) 😤 That being said I think updating your makeup/skincare is so underrated, sticking with the same base products kept me looking cakey and dull for far too long. Sometimes there's a tendency to keep using what feels safe/reliable without appreciating that formulas change, new/better products come out, our skin texture changes, our tastes change etc.
When holy grail products stop working for me it's a good indicator of my skin changing due to getting older. The good news is today we are spoiled for choice on products that work for different skin types so we can always find our new favorites. I love that for us! So many amazing products available now were not around when I was young so I'm enjoying the variety. P.S. You're going to have pull my highlighter from my cold dead hands! This is another product that came along later in life that I simply adore & refuse to let go. I have heard that the all matt makeup trend will be the next big thing in 2024. If you can rock it I say more power to you but this dry skin silver haired old lady is going to keep on shining like a disco ball! 🤣✌️
This is such a good video because it helps us to realize that backups aren't necessary. Something new will be always come along. Our tastes, skin, circumstances, etc all changes and we have to change with them. That said, I go through phases with my favorite products. I had a love affair for a while with the Nars Soft Matte Concealer, then felt like it got weird on my face and moved on. I recently picked it up again and it's so good!
I am having to change a lot of things as I’ve gotten older. I’ve had to up the colour on my cheeks, lighten the coverage of my foundation, increase the use of lipliners, change the placement of eyeshadow, and carefully choose the textures of powders and cream products.
I still adore Butter Bronzer. It definitely does have a subtle luminosity. I think it's the only Bronzer I panned. The only Bronzer that I loved as much was My Marc Jacobs that my dog ate 😢( little demon 😈)
My favorite lip balm isn't at Sephora - it's by O'Keeffe's! They make the Working Hands lotion (which I don't love) but their lip balm is elite! It's in a kind of orange-yellow packaging.
The butter bronzer has a larger range than kosas and a matte formula. Kosas goes hard pan so fast and is straight orange on me. I always go back to butter bronzer. It’s a truly neutral shade and never goes hard.
I was about your age when my skin decided it looked better without foundation than with. I stopped wearing foundation for about 15 years & just wore a tinted mineral powder & blush. Texture has always been an issue for me & I'm still not crazy about overly shiny finishes but matte foundations were just way too drying & heavy which also emphasizes texture. Anyway, after struggling with what I thought was adult acne (meno) I finally went to a dermatologist & found out I had rosacea & eczema. That definitely explained a few things...if you have health coverage, you might want to see a dermatologist.
Its so interesting to see what kinds of products have come out over the years and how the market has changed over the years. Everyone's tastes evolve over time, so products that were so many people's favorites back in the day coule be considered mediocre or even "bad" now. Great video!
I absolutely love your creativity when it comes to ideas for videos. You do some videos like other influencers sometimes, but you really like to do your own thing too at times that I don’t see as often and I really love it. Unless this video is common and I’m just out to lunch…and in that case, I apologize, but videos like this just seem more free flowing and honest and off the cuff than Some more mainstream type of videos. Hope that makes sense. And I love them. And I’m here for them. 😊
the little talk about discontinued products and finding new products felt like such a good analogy for breakups and building new relationships in personal/social life 😭 (22:00-22:30)
Fresh revamped the whole brand to be “clean” and redid the lip balms in the process 😭 I’m soooo sad about it, it’s so hard to find a good SPF lip balm that is comfy to wear and doesn’t taste like ass. Nothing else has even come close 😭😭
Try the Palmer's Cocoa Butter SPF 15! It's vegan, cruelty-free and CHEAP and it's the only spf lip balm I've personally tried that doesn't have that nasty sunscreen taste. Been using it for years and years.
The Jack Black lip balms with SPF 25 are awesome!! They are a lot thicker than the fresh balms, but I feel like they actually stay on my lips and they don't taste awful! I work outside a lot and get sunburnt lips a lot, but I don't when I'm wearing the Jack Black balms :)
The Cay skin isle lip balm with spf is wonderful. Mild pleasant flavor. Can get it on Amazon also. I used to love the bite beauty lip mask in the tube. Not as good after they took out the lanolin to make it vegan but somehow the plain lanolin doesn’t work as well either. I still thought the reformulated one was better than all the other ones I tried. I bought a ton of them when bite beauty shut down. I will try the jack black as someone recommended tho. I’m obsessed with finding good spf lip balms that don’t taste like sunscreen. So sad about the fresh balm tho. Was a fav in the clear.
I recognize what you say about getting over products a lot, but there is one product for me I simply cannot get over and it’s been discontinued for a couple of years now: The TooFaced Peach Perfect foundation. Absolutely transfer-proof and natural-looking on my skin 😢
I miss the entire Peach line by Too Faced. They had a face palette (blush, bronzer, highlighter) that I absolutely loved. All of it was perfection on me and of course, right after I'd pretty much used mine up and threw it away, they discontinued it. There was also a lip gloss from that collection that I loved and have never been able to find a color match for.
seems like it’s going back to the neutrals …some with a little pop and some everyday mostly…love it .. i’m 70 and what you have on looks great. ❤️🙋🏼♀️ 21:04
For drug store bronzer, I recently bought a Kelly Gooch recommendation, the Makeup Revolution cream bronzer. And yeah, it’s so great. I love the color so much, and it is ridiculously easy to work with.
Yensa foundation is looking a bit heavy lately on me too! I’m trying to finish my current tube of it, and I’m making it work by just wearing less of it. Even less than half a pump. Also…I love highlighter! You aren’t alone! I depend on your recommendations so I’m so glad you still love it!
I love love LOVE the PF Butter Bronzer! It's my go to for everyday as it always looks so good, you can just easly throw it on and always looks good! I wish you would give it another try 😢 I am pale and have the lightest shade 😊
Still loving and rocking highlighter here! Though my tastes run more to the smooth gleam these days. No particles or glitter. I feel that way about eyeshadows too. I have special shades, but find I'm reaching for more traditional shimmers and satins. The kind that sit well and last, they are so much more forgiving. Surprisingly, my favourite highlighter right now is an oldie 🤔 The Wet n Wild Mega Glow in blossom. For my uncooked chicken skin it is perfect. Not too icy, rather it gives me a healthy pinkish glow 🥰
I have just discovered your channel and I LOVE IT! I have been diving back into older videos just can’t get enough! I super enjoyed the opening of your advent calendars (chef’s kiss!). I look forward to following you for a long time. Your content is just great!
Just have to say your the only person I’ve heard talk about the dose of colors lipsticks and glosses and I recently tried a couple and immediately went back and bought more. They really do have amazing formulas and they smell great :)
I’m still heartbroken that L’Oreal discontinued my LashOut Mascara. I’ve tried so many and I wore that one for almost 20 yrs. I’m constantly trying new mascaras and still can’t find one that compares. I don’t miss my Mac powder foundation that I used to love. It’s not missed. I also loved Estée Lauder lipstick, favorite forever!! I don’t miss it either!😊❤
I never tried the fresh ones, but for a simple, easy to apply lip balm, I really love the essence fruit kiss lip balms, ESPECIALLY the one in pineapple. I wore them so much i used up two in half a year! They just melt on your lips, and smell so good 🥰
You got so much use from the Escape Pod Palette! I loved seeing you returning to a product you loved, and I've copied some of your looks on me. Looking forward to seeing your new loves.
I never used highlighter, but my wife has started using it. Thankfully I was watching beauty youtube through the highlighter years, so I could help her figure out how to use it. 😅
I had the exact same experience with the Fresh lip balm!!! I usually get the advanced care one when on sale, but this last tube feels so much drier/less moisturizing! The Jouer clear (slightly pink, but not ph adjusting) lip balm is so much smoother and more hydrating. It’s a brand I don’t normally gravitate to, but that lip balm is 💣💣💣!
It was totally on your recommendation that I bought the coconut skin primer :D I still really like it and use it in conjunction with the Wet n Wild impossible primer first to get rid of my pores and then a bit of the coconut over the rest of my face and it works well for me:) Another similar combo is the Elf putty primer used with the Estee Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance *chef's kiss* for dry skin!
Wow I never expected to see the Yensa foundation! How things have changed! I’ve started a new job with week and I am so tired; I really needed a Lauren video! Love to see your face x
My favorite drugstore bronzer is the heatwave bronzer from Flower Beauty. It's a little luminous and baked. Also, it has more of a redder undertone rather than orange which works better for my skin tone.
I’ve fallen in love with some of my old go to foundations when I started putting them in the palm of my hand. Taking the brush, warming it up and really buffing it into the brush before applying to my skin gives such a beautiful and lightweight finish.
Omg I used to LOVE the Fresh balms too but it just feels like it sits on top of my lips. I’ve rediscovered the Lip Venom balm sticks from DuWop- remember lip venom gloss?? They have a matte clear balm and a matte tinted one that both give a tiny bit of tingle and fill in all the little cracks/lines.
Listen highlighter is coming back lol also I’m scared for all the cream blushes in the future that are going to be in declutters and dried out like all our liquid lips lol
I love the clinique cheek pops they're the only powder blush formula I enjoy. One product I've fallen out of love with is the It Cosmetics CC Cream. I've probably used 10 tubes but as I've gotten older I'm finding that it's too thick I probably won't repurchase again
I briefly worked for Fresh and they did reformulate the Fresh lip balm in the past couple years, they took out a couple not so great for you ingredients but I sadly think in removing those the formula has suffered 🤧
Honestly the paulas choice body and lip balm in the pot is my absolute fave. It is so simple but wonderful and lasts so long. It is the only thing that keeps my lips hydrated longer than an hour or 2
I have to say, I’ve always loved your recommendations and value your opinion! Every product I’ve bought based on your recommendations I’ve absolutely loved and have become a staple in my day to day! Love the video! 💕💕💕
I don’t wear makeup really ever but daily to day is blush, highlighter and gloss, a no makeup makeup look and my fav lip stuff is from DIOR .. it’s expensive yes but since I don’t wear a full face and only need 3 face products I go more expensive for the lips and omg their lip glow balm is amazing
for lips i have been enjoying the Juvias Place - Volumizing Gloss Sticks. They feel a tiny bit minty, not harsh at all, but the amount of gloss shine is nice. i really enjoy the black berry color, perfect for winter months on my skin tone
Have you recently tried the L'Oréal Lash Paradise mascara? They even have an extra black one. It's been my firm favourite for years, it has good staying power, the most wonderful bristle brush and never flakes or clumps on me. Don't go for the waterproof formula though, it doesn't compare at all.
I was on an unintentional low buy this year 😂. Not much spoke to me. My favorite foundation is Tarte foundcealer. You might like that one. Otherwise I use Purlisse perfect glow skin tint.
I just tried the Butter Bronzer, and I do love it! I also love the Makeup Revolution Cream Bronzer. I am in the same boat where my favorite lip balm is no longer available, so I am having to try something else. My makeup style is pretty different than it was even a few years ago, when I bother to do my makeup at all. But I feel like I have found my favorite products and I just keep using those until they run out, which is a fun place to be in.
Gurl … definitely bought the FAB one because of you (loved it, then moved on). I’ve been with you since you ditched the Too Faced Hangover primer for it❤
I don’t use highlighter, often. I use the soft highlight from my Hourglass face palette (leopard). If I want more impact, I will use the strobe highlight and buff it into my skin.
I dont miss bullet lipsticks. I used to buy them but they're so unpractical. Korean liptints snatched my heart for good tbh. I might explore liquid lipsticks for some funky colours tho 👀
Mix your foundation with glow booster if some kind. I use the danessa myricks beauty prism fx hydrating lotion. I use a very similar foundation (purlisse bb cream) and do the same.
Hormone changes could be contributing to the change in your skin. I spent most of my early adulthood with dry dry crispy skin. After I turned 30 I suddenly became oily, more acne prone, and my skin became sensitive. Foundations that used to look absolutely beautiful suddenly looked terrible on my skin. I had to completely change around my makeup routine for it.
I also have oily skin, and I’ve been LOVING the new Softlight Rose Inc foundation. It gives me light-medium coverage with a natural finish and doesn’t overly settle into my lines and lasts well. The shade match is also perfect for me (2N-I have a fair, neutral, desaturated complexion).
Just purchased a new Fresh balm and was feeling the exact same way! It’s not the same and I bought 3 thinking they have always been a holy grail winter lip balm for me. Even sick you look absolutely beautiful ❤
I wore the fresh sugar lip balm all the time in highschool. Absolute staple. But I heard they changed the formula a little while back and haven’t repurchased it. Such a bummer!
Lauren, you talking about not understanding why people aren't using highlighter anymore made me laugh. I remember when highlighter was becoming popular and you were not into it AT ALL lol
What I love about Lauren is that she marches to the beat of her own drum. She’s either ahead of trends or behind on them because she does everything on her own timing lol You remember her intense blush draping phase? No one else was doing that then!
@v.besson6808 yes! That is always what I loved about her too. And no matter what she is into at the time, she is able to make it seem approachable and doable for us non-professionals lol. The blush draping was beautiful on her!
Girl I’m not a huge fan of that Tower 28 mascera. I feel like it drops clumpy sand onto my under eyes throughout the day. Maybe I got an old one, idk. Thanks for the video!
I like cheek pops! Also their small size is nice. I have been wearing less and less foundation or bb creams, just primer and concealer. Also less colorful eyeshadows, sad but true 😅
I really love the wet and wild tinted moisturizer and also which is new to me I LOVE is the missha perfect BB cream on the shame 23. I’m alil darker than you but this stuff is so great and 23 is my perfect winter shade! ❤️
It cosmetics CC illuminate in medium was my go to. I don’t know what happened to that undertone but it does not match me anymore nor do I enjoy the formula like I use too. I won’t ever repurchase after tubes and tubes of it. I need to read reviews to see if I’m not the only one. Inquiring minds want to know.
The best lip product for healing chapped lips, not necessarily a daily driver or cute... Is the blistex lip ointment in the white squeezy tube. Not the green medicated twist up!! I have tried literally eeeeevery healing balm on the planet, and the blistex lip ointment is just incredible. It's different from the vast majority of balms/masks/treatments and it WORKS. Truly the perfect before bed lip balm of all time. I don't recommend wearing it like normal balms, as depending on how much you put on it can have a white cast. But man, that stuff will heal chapped lips, no matter how crusty and bleeding they are. Just my 2 cents cause I never see people mention that specific blistex product! Oh, and it's suuuper inexpensive too! I've gone thru at least 8 tubes in the last 5 years without a dent in my wallet.

if it was a few years old, it was technically expired (though I don't get rid of things until they change smell/performance/consistency either)
Because I love this channel I'm not going to be bitter about the mention of the Clinique Pop Blushes and Physician's Formula bronzer (aka my babies) 😤

Sun bum makes a balm with spf - I own it but haven’t tried it, maybe others have?

Girl, those fresh lip balms are crap. Get the jack black lip balms. They’re my true “desert island” item! ESP the mint one, so good.

We must start a support group for this line!😆
Ahhh! Thank you for posting, these always help me relax and wind down
❤️❤️❤️
I still love the Cheek Pops!❤
I never use bronzer😳
I rarely use highlighter anymore…..and I have a drawer full of all those items!😂

Weird. I can’t stand it. It looks like orange dirt to me, even on other ppl…different strokes for different folks I guess.
The Drunk Elephant lip balm is awesome, but out of stock everywhere! The clear lip balm by Honest is basic, but does the job. 👍🏼
Not the coconut primer!!! 😢 I’ve been wanting to add this back into my routine. Great video!
I KNOW!! I was so sad when I figured out it just wasn’t working for me anymore!!
I still use my Clinique Cheek Pop blushes ❤ and I still use my Escape Pod from time to time, but I’ve always used it as a companion palette.

Lol, I keep coming back to Clinique blush, chubby highlighter, & bronzers. Love this video!
I never tried the fresh ones, but for a simple, easy to apply lip balm, I really love the essence fruit kiss lip balms, ESPECIALLY the one in pineapple. I wore them so much i used up two in half a year! They just melt on your lips, and smell so good 🥰
Bioderma Atoderm Lèvres is HANDS DOWN, THE best lip balm in the world. Nothing else can hold a candle to it... 😎✌🏼💜💜💜🇬🇧
I still use highlighter! I watch Angie and Theresa and they still glow it up too!!
I'm still holding strong onto highlighter, its what got me into makeup. It was a colorful abh palette. But I love all kinds.
You might like the innisfree matcha green tea lip balm stick. I feel like the texture is comparable to the old fresh lip treatments.
Would never have had the Yensa on my 2023 bingo card. Nothing surprised me like that one!
I'm still down with the highlighter, too! I just purchased a mini of Champagne Pop for the first time, and I'm loving it!
I’ve fallen in love with some of my old go to foundations when I started putting them in the palm of my hand. Taking the brush, warming it up and really buffing it into the brush before applying to my skin gives such a beautiful and lightweight finish.
I love that technique, I also mix liquid blush into foundation the same way
After last year, I’m so happy to see so many ornaments on your tree!!! ❤🎄❤
I need Lauren Mae Beauty merch!
Girl I haven’t even watched yet but seeing the roen liquid lip balms breaks my heart lol
I briefly worked for Fresh and they did reformulate the Fresh lip balm in the past couple years, they took out a couple not so great for you ingredients but I sadly think in removing those the formula has suffered 🤧
The ingredients that they removed were perfectly fine, just not “clean”
@@imagineitqll oh girl I don’t work for them anymore I know clean beauty is a crock of BS I’m just relaying what I was told lol
I love Epically Epic lip balms!! They are so soft and have amazing flavors (scents?). Also, I love supporting small independent businesses.
I thought they discontinued foundcealer? I changed to the lys one and it's nice but different
@@sharroon7574 I just saw it at Ulta a couple days ago, so if they did, it’s still in stock. Now I’m worried. I think I’ll grab one. lol
@ChristineMaz I can't get it in Canada, if you google it lot's of comments say it is discontinued but maybe they brought it back in the US, not sure.
Feel better, Lauren! And don’t overwork yourself this holiday season ❤
For drugstore if you’re cool toned I love the L’Oréal lumi bronzer
THE CLINIQUE BLUSHES ARE MY FAVORITE POWDER BLUSHES. I still want to collect them all bahah
Gurl … definitely bought the FAB one because of you (loved it, then moved on). I’ve been with you since you ditched the Too Faced Hangover primer for it❤
Tarababyz still loves highligher like its 2016 and so does Emily ❤
I don’t use highlighter, often. I use the soft highlight from my Hourglass face palette (leopard). If I want more impact, I will use the strobe highlight and buff it into my skin.
I dont miss bullet lipsticks. I used to buy them but they're so unpractical. Korean liptints snatched my heart for good tbh. I might explore liquid lipsticks for some funky colours tho 👀
I still love the butter bronzer BUT i have it in the scented ones they came out with a year or two ago because the OG coconut is TOO MUCH.
I loooove highlighter! My favorite right now is the rare beauty powder highlighter and the iconic london liquid one.
Love this video! Made me think about my make up history. Love you Lauren, you are such a great person to sit and have a coffee with 🎉❤😊
Mix your foundation with glow booster if some kind.
I love highlighter still. I think it will always be who I am. I like the way it looks!
Lip recommendation for your preference: Glossier Generation G sheer matte. The shades Leo and Cake are game changers.
Anastasia Beverly Hills glow palette. I used to love it but haven’t used it in a really long time
Just purchased a new Fresh balm and was feeling the exact same way! It’s not the same and I bought 3 thinking they have always been a holy grail winter lip balm for me.
Even sick you look absolutely beautiful ❤
My fave drugstore bronzer is Loreal Lumi
We missed you this past week, hope you are feeling better! Glad that you posted 2 new videos so quickly after each other :)
Hope you get well soon, Lauren. Take time off if you need to ! ❤
I wore the fresh sugar lip balm all the time in highschool. Absolute staple. But I heard they changed the formula a little while back and haven’t repurchased it. Such a bummer!
The Clinique Blushes look fabulous as a lip stick, with gloss on top.. The Tower 28 is also great for your lower lash.
Lauren, you talking about not understanding why people aren't using highlighter anymore made me laugh. I remember when highlighter was becoming popular and you were not into it AT ALL lol
What I love about Lauren is that she marches to the beat of her own drum. She’s either ahead of trends or behind on them because she does everything on her own timing lol
You remember her intense blush draping phase? No one else was doing that then!
@v.besson6808 yes! That is always what I loved about her too. And no matter what she is into at the time, she is able to make it seem approachable and doable for us non-professionals lol. The blush draping was beautiful on her!
Man I used to love my Clinique cheek pops I do love them when I need for long wearing days
Girl I’m not a huge fan of that Tower 28 mascera. I feel like it drops clumpy sand onto my under eyes throughout the day. Maybe I got an old one, idk. Thanks for the video!
It smudges like crazy on me. Do not understand the hype at all.
I loved this Lauren❤ Beautiful beauty wisdom right here! Thank you much love from Australia xo
I'm still using highlighter too! I have some beautiful highlighters, I'm going to keep using them!
I like cheek pops! Also their small size is nice. I have been wearing less and less foundation or bb creams, just primer and concealer. Also less colorful eyeshadows, sad but true 😅
Best lip balm is TonyMoly snail mucin lip balm in a gold stick. It's less than $15, has spf, and has the best sheen and plush texture.
Korres and Apivita make great lip balms, clear and tinted.
I really love the wet and wild tinted moisturizer and also which is new to me I LOVE is the missha perfect BB cream on the shame 23. I’m alil darker than you but this stuff is so great and 23 is my perfect winter shade! ❤️
Please do more skincare videos! Also I have stoped using OUAI wave spray. I used to like it a lot but I feel like it’s not that great for my hair.
OMGosh I love your Christmas tree!😍
It cosmetics CC illuminate in medium was my go to. I don’t know what happened to that undertone but it does not match me anymore nor do I enjoy the formula like I use too. I won’t ever repurchase after tubes and tubes of it. I need to read reviews to see if I’m not the only one. Inquiring minds want to know.
I was just searching the perfume channel !! Psychic ❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️ glad there can be a video for you!! I’m hoping to have something over there tomorrow!!
the tower mascara has a super similar wand to the maybelline lash sensational wand! Always makes my lashes look good
The best lip product for healing chapped lips, not necessarily a daily driver or cute...
