    the last part was baguazhang, one of the three main internal martial arts along with Xingyiquan and Taichichuan (also known as Tai Chi). It was one of the martial arts used by Jet Li in The One along with Xingyiquan. Also, just so u can tell, if the routine starts out with raising the hands in the air and then lowering them next to the waist, it's an internal chinese martial art.

    Do blades that flexible negatively effect the integrity of your cuts and thrusts? It seems that you'd need to worry about snapping when hitting an actual target, or are you using a more whip-like motion to target arteries and such?

    yes there is. for example, long fist is based on: Chaquan 查拳, Huaquan華拳, Hong quan洪拳, and Shaolin quan 少林拳.
    And back in the day people depended on fighting to live. Just because no one practices application as often anymore(and SOME do-ex: zhao qing jian)doesn't mean there's no connection.

  • @Terrorwind
    @Terrorwind 17 лет назад

    yes in wushu martial art the sword for performance is quite thin... n they are called Dao n Jian.... However jian and dao can be flexible or not depend on the owner and his set of art... some style require flexibility while others dont. Yet with those set of skills they are bothe formidable opponents tht could startle the katana. But lastly its the user n his skills not the tool that counts

  • @heheAlan76
    @heheAlan76 17 лет назад

    I attended kung fu tryout classes. I conclude that most popular styles are for people of only certain body types and atletic abilities. some people lose flexibility, lose and gain weight many times due to work /family demands. A good martial art has moves executable regardless of changes in your body over time; in other words: low maintenance but effective.

    who knows, wushu has been around a long time, probably around the time of the samurai, if the sword is swifter than the katana, then these would do good against them. Then again, the katana is a very strong sword so i wouldnt be blocking it with the saber, so idk, it all depends

    err the reason why these weapons seem to be like "aluminium foil" like someone said is because due to the forms of their arts, the flexibilities of the weapons will allow them to attack from more unpredictable angles, as they are not for war use against armoured enemies, it needs not to be hard because all it takes is a small hole in ur body or neck to end someone's life :)

  • @libriano91
    @libriano91 16 лет назад

    You know that besides making you feel better and training your body and mind to perfection,it can actually save your life some day.Martial arts is a way of life,it is the art of expressing the human body,I want to grow old fit and healthy,not weak and sick,what about you?Besides you can think more clear after you exhaust yourself,that's scientifically proven.I hope that's reason enough to train martial arts,have a good day adn may you one day find internal peace.

  • @NYCFighter1992
    @NYCFighter1992 16 лет назад

    for everyone who says this is useless. walk up to jet li and challange him. good luck with the injuries. every martial art takes years to perfect but in the end u get something more than physical ability, and that is the real goal of each fighter

  • @ryo3945
    @ryo3945 17 лет назад

    well it depends on whos faster too. ur one inch punch isnt gunna work if i drop u on da floor and ur on ur back fighting and if someones kick or punch is strong enough grabs dont work to well. But i like tiger claw and iron fist the forms are really good and deadly. I basically love all Martial arts. No art is the best compared to da rest. all depends on da person using da art

    I think wushu is now an offical olympic event now. if it's true, i finally got something to watch besides judo, tae kwon do, karate, and amatur boxing. i'm getting a little tire of mainstream martial arts. don't get me wrong i've done karate and tae kwon do for about 4yrs now, but i want something different. I'm actually looking for wushu schools in San Diego since I'll be living there soon.
    People who diss martial arts should challenge a real practicioner and not somebody who's just learning.

    All of U are correct in some ways. I live and in china for many years. The problem is that wushu (kongfu) here has nothing to do with fighting. The only place is military. For last several years they got something that they cal SANDA. This is fight. But the level is very poor. I know some people outside of china and their wushu is better then the ch guys. The real chinese fighting skills are practiced only in taiwan and a bit in hong kong.

    Yeah...MMA shows it's the fighter, not the art that decides win in a fight. To judge properly, we should ask: for anyone in any type of condition, whether pot-bellied or lithe, could the learner learn the art in a short period of time w/o lots of conditioning. Suppose there is war and and you have to pick a large group of people, fat and fit, to train very quickly and effectively? I wouldn't choose wushu -- I'd pick jiu-jitsu and / or muay thai.

  • @philipwhiuk
    @philipwhiuk 17 лет назад

    wushu looks visually awesome, but given the amount of practice needed to avoid injury it doesnt seem that useful as a mechanism for self-defense. Then again, I suppose most learnt it throught self-defence (kung-fu etc) anyway...
