    Part of the problem is that we don't like to tell ourselves the truth. Building in canal paths, blocking free flow of water is wrong, a danger to entire community. Those buildings should be removed, owners fined cost of removing the buildings, and possibly serve time in jail

    Looking at where these buildings are located, it is not a surprise that they are being demolished. Title or no title, nobody in their right mind would be building anything right where it is clear that it is a canal zone. I mean somebody actually built a house right next to the canal. Really? Come on people be sensible. That is a waste of money and resources. They have nobody to blame butthemselves on this one.

      I agree with you only to the extent that a developer should be circumspect with land situated on natural drainages. However, the Town Planning Authorities should guide those who approach them for building approvals. It will surprise you to know that Title documents were even given by the state. Are we saying that there is no master plan to guide the officials? I don't think so.

      @@andrewokobah8094 Most times they apply for approval with the correct coordinates but once approval is granted the developers would alter the documentation given to the final owners. Some of these houses are neighbors to the canal. Everyone involved has to accept responsibility. The homeowners shouldn't be in a hurry to be neighbors to a canal. You breathe in the diseases from the canal. You can get sick. Common sense should prevail. The builders, the project manager, or the company should have known better, at least advise them. The government should have stopped them from the beginning. In fact, they should have put up a sign saying canal zone, land not for sale, government land, anyone building their houses will be demolished. Then, the people will understand, but they purposely allow them to build and plan a date to make them cry . That's hateful and vindictive, not to mention weak. They should be refunded.

    Igbo people should stop buying lands and properties in Lagos State go to the East. I am looking for how to start a campaign to stop Igbos from investing in Lagos. • @mrnaija101

      What you should say or advice is that any Igbo who is looking to buy property or land in Lagos should do their due diligence and also ask questions or go to the State agency in charge of such and be sure before making payments to any real estate company, anybody or family. It doesn't matter the tribe they are all affected, it just happens that Igbos may be more in number due to the area but Indigenes of Lagos as well are affected in different parts of Lagos state. For instance I'm Lagos indigene but a victim, cos where my house is at Ajah Lekki is under Govt acquisition and we are aware, the estate association is in dialogue with Govt but that doesn't mean by the time Govt comes and mark the place for demolition i will stay there and say they won't come and demolish.

    • @easyware
      @easyware 6 месяцев назад

      1) Firstly, stop all this tribalist nonsense that Igbo people were targeted. This affected people from all ethnic groups. Some people just choose to turn everything into a tribal issue.
      2) Nothing wrong with asking people to invest in their hometowns. But - before you start your campaign - ask yourself why these people prefer to build or invest in Lagos in the first place. So many of them find it much easier to buy land or conduct businesses in places like Lagos than in their neighbouring villages. Anyway, I think it's a good idea to go back because only then will you appreciate Lagos a lot more than you currently.
      3) If you think that governors in the East are also not demolishing houses for even more spurious reasons, you will be in for a shock, o!

    • @chimaezeenwerem5035
      @chimaezeenwerem5035 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@easyware Hahahahaa...so in one hand you agree that they is nothing wrong in asking one to invest in their hometown then in the other hand you deem it tribalistic and then say it's a good idea as Igbos will now know the value of Lagos.
      I shall vehemently campaign for Igbos to go and invest in the East and I am a proud Tribalist, the useless nation called Nigeria/Zoo succinctly brainwashed Igbos to deem tribalism as a bad thing when they practise it but Nigeria openly practises tribalism openly, in the case of asking one for State of Origin during employment, entrance examination, admissions, quota system, the present APC Federal govt hierarchy is riddled with Yorubas and Northerners and hardly any Easterners.
      I am a realist and see the world as a Wild safari where predator kills its prey. Igbos should invest solely in the East, they must stop investing in Lagos because the fall of Lagos is to the benefit of the Eastern region and surely Lagos must fall and the reverse shall be the case where it shall be people from the South West coming to the East to live for their survival.
