Had a smile on my face for the entire duration of the 'van on the beach' situation. Somethings happen for a reason and that right there is the perfect example! What a wholesome interaction from start to finish. Keep trucking Dut 💪
Dustin, I can't put into words how proud I am of you. You went from being my "little shadow" to the wonderful man you have become. This adventure is one for the books and something you will remember forever. Please be safe during the rest of your travels. I can't wait to see you in a few weeks. I love you and miss you buddy. Dad
Reading this had me in tears, Patrick you did an amazing job raising Dustin, he’s such an awesome and caring guy and for that all of us fans thank you.
How cool was this. Random strangers becoming friends despite language and cultural barriers. If the media highlighted these interactions more the world would be a better place.
So true it’s kinda sad to think about when seeing this all the negative stuff pushed in the US and how divided the country is to the point of this happening is pretty slim
The tow guy looked like "Masa's long lost brother" 🤣🤣🤣. In England, 3 guys see you stuck, they'll make fun and leave you there 9/10. This is much better than other foreign youtube channels, you are knowing the people, not tourist spots. This good Dustin.
I am so moved by the nicest, helpful Japanese locals you encountered through your adversity. I always dreamed of traveling to Japan, buying a GTR and exploring the entire country. So awesome to watch this series Dut. So glad your are experiencing one of your bucket list dreams. Thanks bro.
Don't beat yourself up over the beach situation. Challenges and tribulations are what shape a person's character. You will come out of it an even better person than before. I actually teared up over the kindness of those 3 guys. Such an amazing encounter under such a stressful situation. It's people like them that make me super proud to be Japanese. 🖤🖤🙏🙏 Keep up the great work, Dut. You're doing great. I'm loving the videos and pics you're sharing here and on Instagram.
The universe can put 1000 obstacles in your way it’s the way you react to them and how you overcome them. With your life full of all the luxuries back home, now in Japan in place where your faced with the upmost trials through your travels the universe will test you but look what it brought to you, friends, food, laughter, and a tow truck with a legend as a driver. Blessings upon blessings Dut keep your trip going no matter what and your head held higher. 🙏🏼
That was absolutely wholesome for those guys to help. Reminded me when we were and looked lost trying to find our Airbnb in Kyoto. An older lady stopped by and we showed her the address and walked us over to our place. She left for a moment and came back with Onigiri and other snacks as well. I love Japan!
Bro this is exactly what happened to the “Dark Souls” series creator! He was stuck on a mountain pass I believe, but had 3 random strangers help him get back on the road! After they helped him, the strangees left without wanting anything in return. Miyazaki was so moved by how kind these strangers were, he incorporated the “summon help system” into Dark Souls haha. This was exactly what happened to you man. What a moving experience this was, cause it made me hella emotional. Situations like this can be tough as heck to deal with by yourself. Keep your head up as always Dut, and have a safe journey onwards. GODSPEED!
WoW meeting those 3 lads was a miracle bro. They were so nice and respectful. The Japanese culture is something else i cant wait to go there later this year. Loving japan in a van blogs bro. Just makes me want to do the same
Probably one of your best videos. I was smiling the whole time you got stuck on the beach. Having all those interactions with the locals is something everyone needs to experience for themselves traveling internationally. Get off the beaten path and meet real locals. It always ends up being such a worthwhile experience and even with language barriers, you'll meet some incredible people. I've always found that people are so warm and inviting even if you can't communicate fully in your native language.
I had a similar experience in Japan last October. I was at an outlet mall in Karuizawa when I dropped the keys for a rented GR 86 down a storm drain. I was freaking out on the inside when I went to the information desk for help. But the staff were super kind and helpful despite the language barrier. Long story short, mall security was able to lift up the storm drain grate and the guy from the info desk climbed down to grab my keys. I did a full 90 degree bow with repeated arigatos when I got the keys back, as I was so thankful they were able to help me out. On a side note, I drove the GR 86 on the touges of Mt. Haruna, Mt. Myogi, and Usui Pass the day before. That adventure was inspired by your and Albo's videos of you guys driving the Initial D touges. Needless to say that was an amazing experience. Loving the content from this Japan in a Van series! Can't wait to see the next episode!
watching this entire video has put the biggest smile on my face ,and also the two trucker was a racer that's coolest thing iv ever seen bro mans legendary 😂😂
Hi Dustin, My wife and I are really loving "Japan In A Van." We are going to Japan for the first time in 2 weeks and this is the perfect way to get us excited for it. This is such a great series you are doing, and dare I say it is your finest work! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with the rest of us. Good luck and stay safe. We'll be watching!
I didn't expect the Japanese people to be that nice to foreigners. They are what other people should be in world kind and helpful to anybody possible if your from another country. That was such a kind hearted experience
DUDE this is so beautiful!! This what great culture looks like! Great people look like!! The world needs more people like this! TOW TRUCK DRIVER IS A JDM TOUGE DRIVER. this is just beautiful. Captured on camera. Just beautiful👌will definitely make sure I pass on the kindness
Had a feeling this was going to happen. Hiace buses are extremely light at the rear so anything that has soft or muddy ground. YOU DO NOT ENTER. Love the vid. Enjoy your journey
The dynamic of going from locals who aren’t fond of foreigners alone to 3 young locals finding an American on the beach and doing everything they can to help is insane. It’s a lesson every person in every country should see. If we were all as good as those three people, the world would be better off
I absolutely adore these videos and the background musics, everything is so beautiful. I didn't know I loved Japan this much. I need to go there! More Japan videos please ❤
That situation, never have been so happy of the kindness of those strangers. That's the joy of Tohoku and Hokkaido. Everytime I'm back home in Aomori, it's super nice like as if I'm in Maine, Texas or Virginia. The absolute feeling of being homely I never get when I'm in Tokyo area. Also shoutout to that TOW truck driver too, that touge in Hakodate is amazing to drive through and super underrated. Next time you're back in Hokkaido, definitely hit up Kushiro, Nakashibetsu, and Shiretoko areas. Super beautiful :) Keep it up with the sick content, love it!
Travel vlogs are Epic Dustin. My favorite thing was the Sakura Cherry Blossom Trees. Glad to see you having fun man! Good thing those nice Japanese guys were able to help you on the beach and 3 new subs FTW.
Wow! what a wild ride and you are definitely getting a hell of an adventure and we are getting an amazing story. really loving the series so far and so excited to see more and hopefully you keep making friends along the way!
It’s crazy, but there are still nice people out there in this world. Despite a language barrier, and through the negatives, you turned it into a positive experience! We need move series like this! Safe travels!
I came across your channel at the end of last year and it was really a great enrichment for me. I love your videos especially the Japan videos because I love Japan and it is my goal in life to travel there at least once. Your new series is just awesome, I have the greatest respect for you, being alone in a foreign country is a challenge. That's why I wish you the best and look forward to new videos. Greetings from Germany
Oh man. I can totally feel dustin's pain. Can you imagine how difficult this would have been 10-20 years ago? Technology, and a healthy does of good luck, coming in clutch!
When I thought I can’t love Japan any more, you end up meeting some amazing helpful people while stranded AND the tow truck guy ends up being a touge racer! What are the odds! I’ve been loving the series so far too! I got let go from my job I did for years and I just started a new job today. My life has taken unexpected turn and it’s scary not really knowing what’s ahead. But watching you embark on this crazy trip makes me feel much more at peace and actually excited about the unknown in my life and to see what’s ahead of you during this trip! Keep up the amazing content! #madeittotheend
I guess it's no coincidence that your brand is called Legends and you literally have legendary experiences. That was amazing, God was looking out for you. I really hope you guys get to see each other again.
As horrible as you probably felt at first, this totally makes it worth it. Often it's the things that we never plan for that make the best memories! So glad to see that you are safe!
You’re an inspiration bro ! Every time I watch your videos and see the positive attitude you have no matter the situation , you don’t let it bring you down❤
I would have full send on the snow, lol, Then the adventure of getting stuck was wonderful proof of good karma and what adventure can create. You overcame adversity and made new friends in the process, I call that a win, bud. Enjoy the vlog so much.
Thats super comforting to see how united Japanese people are, even towards foreigners. America has a lot to learn from experiences like this. Everything happens for a reason, and you made great new friends in a different country, out of it. Amazing!
You should send them a shirt or something! They’d love that. Just the excitement from the stickers put a smile on my face! Hopefully you got their socials!
Hey Dustin getting stuck is all part of the fun of the journey and look at the wonderful people you got to meet. My son lives in Osaka and we are visiting him in a couple of weeks it’s my 3rd time visiting Japan and I love it as the people are amazing so friendly and welcoming 🔥🔥🇬🇧
Always wanted to go to Japan and explore it like how you doing it. Getting to experience it through your eyes where those 3 guys just being awesome and kind human beings, getting you snacks, their interactions with you even though the language barrier and just being there with you till the end.. so beautiful. Also out of all the recovery people, a fellow touge boss being the one to get your van you out... Man with all what you were going through in that situation and things just rolling out how it did, that was just unbelievable. Really enjoying this series and looking forward for the next episode. Much love Dustin, take care and enjoy 😄
I was in Japan last year in April for work and was my first time seeing the cherry blossoms. Last week I was in Seoul South Korea and they were in bloom there as well but more of a light pink or white it's nice to see.
Hey Dut, I’ve said this on another Japan video but I want to say it again. Been a subscriber for a while but I mostly tune in to most of your Japan vids/vlogs now with everything going on in my life. You have continuously inspired me to travel on my own and embrace the uncomfortable. You are a rare breed to really immerse yourself and try to learn more about the Japanese culture/language. Man Dustin! This video gives me chills! What a hard experience that turned into something so beautiful!! Your new friends are such kind and genuine people!! The kindness of strangers is so magical. Great episode 2 dude!
apart from the extreme racism now and then haha
How cool was this. Random strangers becoming friends despite language and cultural barriers. If the media highlighted these interactions more the world would be a better place.
So true
So true it’s kinda sad to think about when seeing this all the negative stuff pushed in the US and how divided the country is to the point of this happening is pretty slim
The hospitality in Japan is so wholesome.
3 guys helping, is love. Beautiful thing!
Japan on a whole different level of kindness. Loving the daily uploads!
They are great yes. But also racist towards gaijins. It's even worse on the work place
Those three guys were absolutely awesome for helping you and staying there with you.
