This made me want to get one of his knives - but I do not know which one.
He is an inspiration and for me to be able to connect with his work every breakfast and dinner is uplifting.
They're all pretty amazing, it's a tough choice!
Thx KW and MY! I'm so happy to have one of his Honesuki's!!
That's such a great blade!
He is such a nice and humble person. Thank you for the interview. :) I hope the idea of starting the school succeds.
Glad you enjoyed it, I hope so too!
Anyone who has used a Masashi knife can understand the passion and dedication he puts into blacksmithing AND grinding/sharpening. His Kuroshu santoku is one of my favorite out of 14 knives I own (right up there with likes of Fujiwara denka). Wish he visits Ottawa, so I can meet him in person.
Hopefully we'll get him back to Ottawa in the next year or two!
Oh this one will be great :)
You know you're dealing with somebody with a pro attitude when they talk with a continuous focus on humility and improvement.
Great video, live is knife and the way he think, so much things to learn from him !
Agreed, I learned so much from him!
I have 2 of his knives in Aogami 1 and I highly recommend them.
That's awesome!
Saskatoon berry mentioned!
Just curious, as a fellow cook in his 40s... how do you retire?
We've all retired to Knifewear 😅 I don't think Masashi-san plans to retire anytime soon.
You get put to pasture (work at knifewear) or do so much physical damage to your body that you can’t work on line anymore.
Obviously knives are somewhat living beings with soul…especially from this knife maker’s approach to his art.
Absolutely!
