No really man. They got beaten 8-2 when they faced Canada. They also got smashed 6-1 against the Czech Republic, iirc and 7-2 against Sweden. That's 21-5 in 3 games.
Anyone who defends this coaches comments is completely out of touch. This is a travesty for the team. Focus on where to defend and ways to use strengths for advantage. I'm Canadian and I know they are the best but dude ur team can play them hard if not pull of an upset if done correctly. U blew it and ull never coach anywhere again . All that work for nothing

He never said that his players could *never* be better, just that they were not better at that particular point in time. Apparently this type of brutal honesty is common among the Swiss, but if anything it seems to just encourage them to try even harder.
You’ve never played competitive sports it seems.. I’ve faced teams in exhibition games where we were completely outclassed. Why would your coach put any pressure? You’ll just demoralize your troops when they get stomp. This isn’t do or die like a war.

He's coaching the Swiss again this year and probably will for years to come. He's actually a good coach if you research him a bit.
