    I got an idea for Beipiaosaurus.
    Most duck species are crucial for ponds to eat algae off the tops of water sources, along with surface plants to allow sunlight to reach deeper waters. This would make Beipi a gardener. Maintaining parts of rivers or ponds to make sure that underwater plants spawn/grow at a sustainable rate and boosting smaller fish spawns. This would also allow water to be cleaner, allowing a bit more vision wile looking into the water. Beipis might become best friends with Minmies to become architects of the rivers and ponds of The Isle.

      adore this idea! I'm just imagining a Deinocheirus ruling over a lake or section of river with minmis and beipis cultivating the river to boost flora and fauna spawns while keeping an eye out for Crocs, barys and suchos encroaching on their territory.

    • @viennasavage9110

      and maybe they can "clean" other dinosaurs the way birds do! It would give them boosts, prevent disease and other things! Maybe even increase their chances of mutation!

    • @Kaciu-_-
      @Kaciu-_- 4 дня назад +8

      it would make some deino players appreciate a beipi around him but some would not - especially small ones to aobut 40% would benefit from small fish spawns because they give them some food and they can't really hunt much yet, but full growns- small fish give them absolutely no food and darker, less clear water would benefit them for hunting

  • @thesolbusaur4693
    @thesolbusaur4693 4 дня назад +126

    Pollinators shouldn't increase food spawns but rather increase nutrient density of the the vegetation they are responsible for. Food intake is capped by a creature's stomach capacity, so making more food won't benefit an existing population significantly and reducing the default food respawn would make pollinators all too necessary.

  • @singingcrow439
    @singingcrow439 4 дня назад +153

    Additionally, an oviraptor playing eggsitter would likely also get protection. Even if the herbivores don't make an effort to protect Ovi, simply being in proximity of them would dissuade predators from targeting Ovi.

      That would literally only function to make oviraptor players exlusively sentinels for mega groups of discord addicts trying to farm T.rexes. Literally half the reason why they're delaying adding apexes to the recode. Also the whole "standing around this NPC/species arbitrarily gives you boost" is inherantly lazy and infintile.

    Another idea: Parasites. By adding parasites like tics that have minimal negative effects, like slightly reducing stamina or the blood pool if you have to many of them, you would give small tiers like Hypsi and Dryo and opportunity to clear these of larger creatures, like birds do irl. Helping the larger creatures while also giving the small ones a meal.

    I'mma say it right here, if The isle had AI on the same level as Wolf Quest Anniversary or better, the game could be a WHOLE lot more livelier with AI Dinosaurs, hell even just AI working on the same bases as WQ's would be pretty good and reasonable for awhile.
    For anyone who has played WQA would know what I'm talking about because their AI is pretty good for a small Dev team especially the herding/pack behaviors. The Isle Devs struggle pretty often with the current AI it seems, if they'd just reach out to a team like that and get some pointers The Isle could expand on that SO much.

    • @Dinoman9877
      @Dinoman9877 2 дня назад +4

      The problem is that AI on the level of WolfQuest is impossible for The Isle, and shockingly it wouldn't be due to how inept the developers are for once. The game literally CANNOT have complex AI on a fundamental level.
      AI like what WolfQuest has is extremely resource intensive. A lot of processing power goes to running the complex behavioral AI of the animals, the wolves and elk in particular. There's no way to effectively process complex herding behaviors and dynamic reactions to changes in the environment / the sudden appearance of threats and then communicate that to 100-200 players without horrendous lag issues and major AI breaks. The game already can't handle the AI just running away if a player is nearby without glitching out, and there's already tons of performance issues in the game without tossing complex AI onto the pile
      The Isle would literally need to reduce player count per server to single digits to make complex work, and with so few players per server the ability to play as multiple species is beyond redundant, so they might as well only have one playable animal. In short; they'd basically have to make a spiritual successor to WolfQuest, to have AI as complex as that in WolfQuest.

    • @kitkat5596
      @kitkat5596 2 дня назад +1

      @@Dinoman9877 Dondi himself wants complex AI, especially the ones that are Dinosaurs, being able to mimic player behavior and such. If they want that much complexity then I dont see how they could struggle that bad with the idea.

    There's a similar issue in BoB: scavengers, nest raiders and egg eaters don't get much hunt points for bringing down their ideal prey, and especially in the case of larger nest raiders, the amount of food dropped from hatchlings is negligible, so they may as well try for a larger adult, ruining the purpose of these species in the first place.

  • @Kaegrowler
    @Kaegrowler 4 дня назад +4

    I like the idea of Oviraptor as an egg guardian - given that it was misjudged as a thief when the original fossil was protecting it's own eggs, the idea that it's ideal prey would be other, smaller egg thieves is appealing. Of course, eggs are also objectively tasty and nutritious, but my "everybody eats free chicken nuggets" take is a separate thing entirely.

    Regardless of what changes to existing dinos they make, or what new dinos they add they need to have much larger server capacity because lets be honest theres just not enough people per server to allow any sort of real noticeable diversity to encounter. As it stand lets pretend there are ONLY 10 Deino players in a server (and we all know there are a ton more than that), that means minimum 10% of a server pop right now will never been seen by the majority of the server. Bump that number up a little bit, and add in a few Ptera players and youre probably at at least 25% of the servers population just essentially not existing for most everyone else as far as they are concerned aside from occasionally hearing a Ptera, or the occasional poor soul who gets grabbed by a full grown Deino.
    Then theres probably a good chunk of players who are playing as Juvies who are in a loop of spawning and dieing to starvation/being seen by an AI boar/or murdered by something passing by or chain killing themselves to get a spawn closer to where they want to go. Thats probably at least 5-10 players, but on the lower end lets say 5 to bump things up to 30% of players who are probably not being seen let alone interacting with any one. And again that 30% is probably on the lower end of things.
    That leaves 70 slots at best to have everyone available to interact with people on a map with tons of wasted space that is way to big for even 100 players (and with to many cliffs and sheer random steep drops that kill or cripple to many people but thats another issue). There wont be enough room in the existing player count to also have any new playables with cool niches or abilities. Anything semi aquatic is probably just going to be murdered by Deinos anyways, so Sucho/Barry players will probably be minimal along with the tiny playable that can get more fish spawning Especially because anything that hang out in the water is limited to such a small concentrated area of the map with no real way to easily leave or traverse it from one side to the other. If the other things that spend a lot of time in the water at least dont immediatelty dehydrate like Deinos do then maybe itll be fine for them, but theyd still be stuck either int he main river, being eaten, South Plains being eaten, or one of the lakes being eaten or having no one around outside of a rare visit.
    The lack of room in servers really screw over any diversity in species, and niche gameplay options, and once true Apexes like Rex/Trike come out I feel like itll get worse too.

    I don't blame people at all for not playing these creatures, there is no reason, they are not fun. But they ARE on a lot of diets so if people want to see their prey actually in game, make them fun. That's all they need. Just give them their own experience. Bigger dinos are fun cause higher on the food chain, smalls can be fun because they are helpful to the ecosystem or because there is something so captivating about being them. We already see this for small carnivores. It's absolutely valid and FUN to be a Herra. Whether it's digging or having stuff to do by letting us interact with the environment, let smalls have something to focus on, that's what they need.
    Obviously taking into account we don't want servers to be barren and horrible if people AREN'T playing them. Like. Don't make the state of the ecosystem RELIANT on the smalls, just make things nicer and better if they ARE around. Like how diets work. Maybe abandoned burrows fill in and the mixed up dirt and bedding and old droppings make for great places for new plants to sprout up or etc etc. Obviously I'm not a programmer I can't say what would be easy or feasible to program in. But it's just an example of what can be done creativity wise.
    Make people happy to see them around. Like someone else said, deinos could have nicer water that's easier to see in if beipi are around. Maybe when herras scramble up certain trees, coconuts can be jostled out for herbivores. And OTHER herbivores can be handlers of decay that thrive on making sure all this fruit dropping doesn't pile up. Herbis that get lots of nice nutrients from fermenting greens ETC.

    I think another issue is incentive. Even if these smaller animals have impact in the environment, there is not inventive to get a foot in the door with them currently. I propose to fix this, a greater convenience for friends to play together timely that also takes initiative to support solo players. This being the spawning of AI of the same species upon reaching adulthood as a small animal. The AI will approuch the adult player that spawned it and invite the player to the AI pack. The AI supports and helps the solo player to enable them to engage in the same content as a player pack. The player can accept or reject as they can with player to player ground invites. For people playing w/ friends, they can invite their friends to the pack similar to nest invites. A player that accepts the invite can then take over one of the AI and play as normal, skipping growing their own animal and the hassle of finding their buddies on the map. That incentive alone should promote more packs of smaller animals to be found/played on the map. Solo AI packs would also make the smaller animals feel more dense in population compared to bigger ones, as it would in a real environment.

    People really do forget how important small animals really are in real life and how they would be just as helpful in game. 1: small prey means easy game for young or smaller predators. 2: they could provide shelter for baby animals or other small creatures by simply making borrows or dens and just abandon them if needed. 3: they can save the troubble of killing a big animal out of desperation by acting as a snack that can hold you over till you get a better meal. I bet someome to prove me wrong on this when it comes to a hardcore or any survival game. I mean their survival games for a reason unless their trying to go for a more realistic approach and the isle is one of them, even it's bad at showing it.

    Honestly i loved all of those ideas, but there is a fundamental mistake in which i would like to address, most players would not care about being a "important and fundamental figure within the eco-system just for the sake of it" So making the smaller tiers cooler like that would probably still not increase their presence in the isle by too much, however, adding THOSE ideas together with a progressions based system would have a significant boost in their presence, because if you want to play as a Maiasaura, you would have to play as smaller tier dinosaurs (for a specific amount of time) before progressing to a slightly bigger one, making it so that, playing as a small tier would be a necessary mechanic to the game, surviving and adapting with it would be a necessary sacrifice in order to reach a desired dinosaur, instead of the "growing in bush" simulator for 3 hours you could be playing a dinosaur that already starts at 50% growth every time you progress, so you would not waste so much time to actually reach something you'd like. Smaller tiers in this way would not only be a fundamental part of the gameplay, but they would also be actually very fun to play as, and if people eventually get tired as playing with them, they could simply progress to a bigger tier dinosaur.

    I love watching this game so much. Sadly I do not have a computer that would run it. I think.... I have a 2 year old laptop.
    But if I could play it, I would actually prefer to play the smaller dinos. Not everyone wants to be constantly battling.
    I think having little hiding holes or areas where larger dinos cannot reach them would be fantastic! Not just borrows that they have to dig for themselves. But something like nooks in trees or rock piles.
    Or Dryos could have things similar to Prairie Dog villages. Hypsis could make use of them as well. Small predators could invade them. Baby Dinos could spend their babyhood in them as well. It would be up to the resident critter to decide if they will tolerate the babies. Who knows maybe the babies will grow up and defend the colony?
    I would think that the hardest part of playing a small dino is that you don't have anything other than speed to help you not be everyone's snack.
    IF any devs are reading these comments. I think this game is beyond amazing looking. The work put into is shows. The movements of the dinosaurs are so smooth and natural looking. There are times it is like watching a nature documentary, not a game. Hypsis are the cutest thing I have every seen!!!!
    I really wish the game was available on PS5. One day my computer will break, I will get a new one and then I will be playing The Isle with everyone else. ;)

    Thoughts on improving Troodon.
    They are thought to have been much more intelligent than other dinosaurs, and they also had huge eyes relative to their head size, giving them very strong vision. I have a few ideas to make troodon better based on these things.
    1st. Intelligence. Possibly, troodon could offer other certain species increased stats depending on species and stat. Stay with me. Imagine multiple troodons together (within a certain radius of each other) could have increased stamina regen, or attack speed, turning speed, etc. Also, maybe troodons within range of other similar species (other small dinos) could provide the others limited buffs as well, like the increased stam recovery or increases to other meaningful stats. This could help encourage small and similar species to herd with one another for buffs. For the eyes, I think giving troodon increased night vision or better vision based abilities it could only have. Say better and more accurate tracking ability, making it harder to evade troodon. Or even give it a unique ability to zoom in slightly to identify dinos or other objects at long distances. These are a couple ideas I think could really improve an otherwise obsolete dino.

    I don’t think I’ve seen any dryos or hypsis in over a year since we were still playing Spiro, and even then they were still pretty rare. They feel so neglected by the isle, I badly hope they’d go back to them and make them interesting to play

    I love some of the ideas, and applaud your out of the box thinking, but the Oviraptor doesnt really have any gameplay mechanics attached to your suggestion. It has social mechanics attached to it, and I think everyone here knows that without gameplay incentives, people will rarely ever use the features implemented into the game. Nesting is a good example, before the devs added the mutation system which gave people a reward for nesting (more mutations) barely anyone ever nested. I worry that with your suggestion for the Ovi, people wont do the: "protect the nest for a possible reward from another player" thing. Because there is no guaranteed gameplay reward attached to it, that is granted to the player by the game, not another player. So like the nesting mechanic before the mutation system, I doubt it would ever work this way, and instead Ovis would just stick to raiding nests, since its faster, and probably more fun to do then hope the herbis you are protecting are kind today.

    Your symbiotic relationships is an excellent idea and quite frankly can be overlayed onto many of the other dinosaurs.
    I think to make more tangible and not just “Well you could behave like this but it’s no guarantee that it will pan out.” We could implement a “grouping” mechanic where the leader of the herbivore group or one of the mated pair can accept the oviraptor into the group with a friendly call or whatever and they will be given a title in the tab menu or a prompt will pop up indicating that this is friend and not foe.
    I think this is important to keep the foundation of the isle the same, i.e. we don’t want to have to implement that species can talk to each other in game chat, so this is the fix to that and an insurance that this relationship is real and workable into the game.
    Furthermore, maybe each creature can get a buff by being grouped to further their advantage, maybe the babies can get a growth buff or “survival” buff that makes them more hardy and able to take slightly more damage than babies who do not have an oviraptor companion.

    Can we get beaver dam Beipiaosaurus nests? A consequence of them building nests in rivers and streams it makes temporary water holes for Deinos or other semi aquatics. In exchange for building the nest beipi and their chicks safely feed in the mouth of deino and spinosaurids as they rest with their mouth open

    Not bad ideas but even if they does not add side purposes to the creatures with the increased number of dinos the options also increasing and more player willing to try them. More small tier creature as playable makes the small tier creature fighting potential larger as well because they now have something what they could beat. It's the fight side but if you just like a certain creature then you will play it if you find something fun in it. Small tiers are usually more mobile and better in evading larger animals but for that the speed and stamina needs to be readjusted.
    Some creatures may not be in the game or overtime they add them as an addition beyond the planned roster but I would be happy to play as Coelophysis because it was an early small tier predator. Adding insects and small critters to the game also increase the food potentials and small creatures benefit more from these critters because their food requirements / aka stomach is smaller so it lasts long more for them while a larger creature needs more food.
    The only thing what potentially can be messy if they add the huge sized herbivores like Apatosaurus, Camarasaurus, Brachiosaurus etc. These creatures are huge, potentially slow, tanky and requires an all day food supplement so I can see the devs in the end make tress edible also so these creatures could eat from top or smaller trees.
    One day if modding added to the game we will see more variation and additions to the oiriginal roster but hopefully they will fix the balance part so you could have frameworks what can be used when you create a new creature and not making it op.
    For Hypsi I do not think it is realistic to have the ability of climbing also his looks not realistic so does some other creatures but I would not be unhappy if they add the option to climb but then probably they will remove the vomit spit or they need to reconfigure the keybindings.
    Small tier herbivores and omnivores are net positives even if they do not get special abilities. It gives more reason to make more small tier predators whom avoid the fight anyway and only fight with their tiers.
    Rex, Giga, Spino is large creatures so the current roster probably would not go for them anyway and I believe not everyone will pick these creatures so 100 rex would not run around. There are also options to limit certain picks but that could kill the mood for those players whom would pick Rex. I personally not interested in Rex as a Hypsi main I am more curious about small tier creatures.

    I only recently got a "proper look" at the isle after seeing/remembering it for its initial release issues (like being in the dirty devs thing) and really look forward to seeing it expand and trying to play whenever I get a new pc able to play it. 100% as an outsider looking in something I noticed right away was how the small dinos seemed to have very limited scope/capacity to change server dynamics beyond being food/trolls, those suggestions would deffo make it more interesting to play and help me nudge my friend group into it (as many of them dont want to fall for a new DayZ style inch deep lake).
    If smaller dinos could actively effect the world around them, it would encourage people to not just troll them/kill them for no reason (something I have seen be suggested as an issue, I dont know much, but I have seen the hate small guys often seem to get especially from stego gangs who just murder everything, though I am watching things going back a year or 2 so maybe those issues are gone?)
    edit: also, I would love to see a smol croc form added some day, I like the idea of something like, 1-1.5m long just dodging and hiding from the big guys like the juvies do currently but as their max size, relying on eating fish, crabs and the odd small dino they come across. Would make the water side of thing a bit more diverse at least.

    the balance is extremely broken right now. Cant imagine how the nesting grounds are gonna be combined with migration. It is also much easier to play as a herbivore than a carnivore, just because there is no food at all. Btw why would they remove the abuility of choosing the spamn zone?

    It all comes down to one thing: no one wants to be the little guys; even if they had the best mechanics.
    Most people want to be the big guys on the island.
