Hi!! One thing I wanted to say about flower pressings - as an MSc ecology student - please make sure there are plently of this flower before you pick them!! There is a general rule that if you see about 50 of these flowers you can take a couple, otherwise leave them standing. There are already so little wildflowers left, so please be careful with what you take from nature! (Coming from someone that also loves to press flowers/plants!)
Totally agree 👍🏻 She makes me feel like it doesn't matter what you love if it brings you joy let the world know. Also, kindness is the greatest gift you can give. Ruby seems like a really lovely lady 😊
You have a softness in you Ruby, something that is also surprisingly tinged with power and it shines so bright and warm all the time. I am happy to be following you for years now and like so many of your internet followers, I am very proud of your achievements. You are so inspiring! Have a peace filled days and more laughter and fun! You deserve it!
Dear Ruby, this summer I am dedicating 100% of my time to writing, reading and creating videos on RUclips. Thank you for these tips, they are very inspiring and I would really like to be able to wake up earlier to read (unfortunately I find less time during the day to do so). How beautiful it is to write letters and cards, I think it's beautiful to connect with people through handwritten words ❣ Big hugh Ruby, have a nice summer 💚
Wow your channel looks really beautiful 🥰 unfortunately I don’t know Italian all that well. And there were no English subtitles on the video i tried. But congrats on the great channel with the nice cosy energy 😊 Edit: I tried the automatic English subtitels again (they didn’t work at the first try) for some reason they were making no sense. Well 😅
I was just looking for 'bookish summer' 'travel for people who love books' etc., this video comes at the perfect time and I regret not having a friend like you to share the love for books and writing
If I had known you when I was your age, my life would have been absolutely complete ❤. But as a 56 year old bookish girl turned doctor, you nourish that side of me in the most creative way and I pass some of my ideas on to my sons, who are bookish, but have the opportunity to explore this to the max, which I never had.
This is exactly what I plan to do this summer! I passed my last undergrad exam a few days ago and my dissertation is done. For the first time in four years I don't have to study for exams in September. I will just dedicate these next months to myself and to just do the things I love.
Dear Ruby, I´ve been watching you for ages! just wanted to let you know that you were my inspiration and motivation during studying for my A-levels some time ago. I always studied with your study w me videos, it helped me concentrate and get things done. And six years later? I´m almost a doctor now! So thank you sooo much for what you are doing, it means a lot to many people!
I loved the outtakes on this! Definitely added that sense of whimsy you were talking about and made me smile. I’m always glad to see that you have fun yourself too while making these videos :)
Dear Ruby, you are wonderful. I have long wanted to write you some warm and sincere words of gratitude. Thank you for the interesting and high-quality content. I am really very grateful to you, you have greatly influenced my development as a person. Your videos helped me a lot during a very difficult period of my life, literally saved me from destruction. You are so sincere and real, I always watch your videos with great pleasure, in which I find so much wisdom, endless warmth and support. Indeed, you are like a breath of fresh air. I wish you further success and all the best) With love from Russia)
You did a great job arranging those wildflowers. Taking a flower arranging class would fit right in with this cozy cottage, bookish, light academia esthetic.
This was exactly the video I needed!!!! I feel like my summer is slipping away and I want to enjoy every minute of it. So I’ve been reading magical and magical realism novels, and trying to think of summer activities to do. This is perfect ❤ I got inspired as I wrote down what you recommended and even thought of a few more!!!! Super excited I think I can save my summer just yet 🎉
Like you, I am an avid reader. I also like various crafts and get more relaxation when creating something with my hands. This video was so well done and informative.
11:28 this shot reminded me so much of atonement! love it! and the rest of the video ❤ i’m definitely going to be making my own gallery book with artworks too! (and rewatch atonement)
Hello Ruby! I know you will most likely never see this comment, but I just wanted to say that you are my favorite, and most comforting person/channel. I found you around a year ago, and I've watched every video since. Keep up the good work!
Can I just say the spinning shots were fantastic? so dynamic and worked really well with the music in giving it a whimsical feel. Loved the video as always!
The best bloopers I have ever seen 😂😂 Was really hoping for u to upload today so u can imagine my happiness P.S: I took to 2 hours to watch ur vid today only because when u said '' Trip to see the flowers'', it really inspired me to write a paragraph about taking a trip to see the flowers and I am honestly so pleased with how it turned out Thank you for being here Ruby Much love, Anne
This video came at the perfect time for me - I've just finished school for the summer and I'm looking forward to getting back into reading 😊📚 Thank you Ruby
Absolutely love this, this is exactly the kind of summer I strive for! (Also, as a fellow person who tends to prefer to read authors' diaries and poems, I have to say that I found Plath's letters vastly superior to her journal! She was such an extraverted person that her letters show so much emotion, whereas her journal she often just used for writing exercises. Still making my way through the vast volumes of her letters but they're insanely readable!)
Brideshead Revisited is amazing. the BBC adaptation is amazing even though it is from the 1980s Any Madeline Miller is worth a recommendation. One more summer tip is to visit your local museum. They are full of treasures and stories. Thank you for a great video
hi ruby, i have been your subscriber since your high school days maybe like many others, and its just been such a lovely journey so far, we are also the same age :D and it is like i have seen you growing along side myself, in these years its been such a pleasure to share your ups and downs, how you got your place at oxford and everything, and maybe i am not able to put it correctly in words, but your overall channel and the parts of life you shared have felt really wholesome to me, today while i was watching this vd, it just clicked me that over all these years all the content has been fairly consistent around your love for literature and it felt so nice, LOL i ended up writing such a long comment XD thanks for sharing parts of your experiences it sometimes felt like i have a companion.
Been watching you for years now, been with you with a bunch of adventures and i still love your content ❤ your videos always have an air of inspiration and serenity, thank you❤ i was going through a tough time as my father just passed away monday and now i felt some solace ❤❤
Really cool how you've integrated art, nature, journals, and books. Check out infinity mirror book nooks, you might be interested in looking for one or even making one.
Thank you so much for your creative inspirations Ruby. I've saved your vlog so I can revisit later, as I will be adding some of your ideas to my planner. A lot you mentioned I never knew. So thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. Love your channel 🦋 ✨ 🌻
Since you mentioned films here, I think you should watch Dogtooth! It is a unique coming-of-age story that beautifully explores family dynamics, parenthood, and the power of language. I've seen you are interested in studying conceptions of childhood in literature so I think you would love it :) It is also set in summer
Hi Ruby!!!👋 i love all things bookish! ,..really enjoyed this ultimate bookish video.I am working on more classics this summer into autumn 🍂. Love pressing flowers and making journals and bookmarks. Keep up the great work!!!thanks
This looks like the perfect way to relax after a busy year studying. I was delighted to see you reading from a book illustrated by Arthur Rackham. Perhaps another bookish activity could be to seek out the Arthur Rackham museum? That book and several others illustrated by him, are in my personal library thanks to my godmother. She was a teacher and gave me some wonderful books when I was young. I was given A midsummer nights dream at least 40 years ago and have his Grimms fairytales among others. It was nice to be reminded ❤️
great video, Ruby, and finally you are sharing some recipes with us. I'm interested in English recipes from real English families without any modifications because I'm not English. Thank you dear.
Omg! So nice to see the korean writer's book😊 Han kang is one of my favorite writer! I have been really enjoying your videos and started subscribing❤ i hope you have a wonderful summer❤
Great guide - the world would look different (in a good way) if more people followed it… Being creative, so essential for a human being, understand the world, our minds, keeps the mind in the flow
I can suggest that you can learn/read a new/foreign language with a friend/family or just alone for summer as I have seen your academic hustle and walkthrough with your channel and it will be a effective mind reset. Also there will be interesting experience when you read any form of literature especially books in a new/foreign language even if its casual and cannot relate to the author/audience. I'm saying this from personal experience.
A fascinating collection of letters are those of Arthur Rimbaud. I have an edition of Rimbaud's complete works translated by Paul Schmidt. Schmidt wrote in the preface to the letters that they offer a chilling contrast to Rimbaud's poetry.
This is a wonderful video ruby! You did a great job with perspectives and cuts and music and everything. I liked the "drink me" scene a lot :) you're such an inspiration for creativity!
I've missed your lookbooks! It's a shame you never got time to do an Oxford lookbook (though obviously academics come first). Maybe you could go and visit and do one, haha.
great tips! :) who is the talented camera (wo)man taking all these great shots of you? the spinning ones early in the video looked especially well done! 😊 This video also inspired me to start re-reading "We Were Liars" now as this reminds me of summer before then reading "Family of Liars" for the first time 😄

I thought it was illegal to pick all wildflowers? In the UK anyway
@@littlecally no you can pick wildflowers in the uk. Uprooting a whole plant though, like bluebells, is illegal
