Hi ruby Here in the first minute. I saw on your Instagram that you've just handed in your dissertation. Well done. You should be really proud of yourself.
I love how beautiful and calming all her videos are. She's always stressed out and working crazy hard on complex problems, but she almost comes across as this little book fairy in the magical realm of oxford.
In a future time you'll remeber Oxford's days with a profound nostalgic feeling, I mean, Oxford and everything around it and your daily life, the beauty of the daily life, your calmness and your courage, your youngness, every book, burning in your memory as a gentle flame 🙏🏼🍃🔥💓🙍♀️
I'm very proud of you Ruby. Not just for completing your dissertation (which is a feat in and of itself), but also for being so honest about it being a process that is not-fun in the moment. I'm also very happy to hear what your topic and such are about. I hope you had a very nice time in Oxford for your masters. I won't ask "what's next?" Because I'm sure you get that enough and will tell us when you're ready to share.
Gosh it’s mad to think I’ve followed you so long, I’ve seen you through your A Levels, Bachelors and Masters! Huge congratulations on handing in your Dissertation 🫶🏻 after completing my BSc(H) in 2021 I am this year going into Veterinary Medicine! Life goal fulfilled 😭
Hi Ruby, I learned about commonplace book from you, and ever since then, I've been writing down important quotes and thoughts while reading books or watching videos. I used to have a lot of trouble focusing, especially while reading, because I'd overthink things. But now that I'm writing down my thoughts and quotes as I read, I don't get distracted as easily anymore. Thank you so much!
Hello I am a 3rd Year Student Nurse and I am practicing and writing another assignment while watching your video, I can relate to the overwhelming emotions and overthinking its because we both care and have passion for different subjects. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!! AND WE WILL!!!! Good Luck I have my OSCE in 2 weeks :)
I passed my OSCE, but i failed my critical analysis assignment, the feedback was brutal. Im shocked i spent everyday in the Libary and used the skills sessions 🙄 resit it is.
Wishing you all the luck Ruby🫶🏻 I have been watching your videos for the last 4-5 years and you have always managed to motivate me to study. Your videos have somehow become my comfort space, I often play your videos in the background while studying because the vibes are so calm and positive. Thank you ❤ All the best once again👍
I hope you‘re at least as proud of yourself as we are of you. Congrats Ruby, you really deserve this and you have worked so hard. Thank you for bringing us along😊
Oh Ruby! Thank you! You have no idea how good it was watching this. You are such a huge inspiration alongside studying and all things university. Right now I am in my first term of my Masters degree and there is less than a month left till all exams and papers are due and I'm so stressed out, and so missing you (we did our bachelors at the same time and it became something like a routine to calm me down watching your videos) so I loved to see this. See you work but also see your calm and optimistic atmosphere. And just thank you for bringing some of the calm study vibes back. I kind of lose theme over exams. But I love to study and write papers about intresting topics and just throw myself into a topic.... I just seem to forget about it in stressful times... just thank you for beeing my study buddy and study inspiration for so long 🥰
I love your vlogs at home. You always look so at peace and joyful. And as a city girl here in the states, the country life looks so peaceful. ❤❤❤ Well done getting this far in your program!
Congratulations on finishing your dissertation. I have my own library and started collecting books beforehand. Having your own personal library brings so much joy. I have watched your channel for a few years. My official uni days are complete however I am returning to studies to study writing at Oxford, following my passion. I also take a commonplace journal. All the best for your future. I look forward to to your videos.
I’ve just finished uni too, this video upload feels like a vacation to me. Last few months have been so stressful I became detached to the things I usually enjoy, feel like I’m now getting back to routine. Good lucky Ruby ❤
Ruby!! Your videos are always such an inspiration. I can't believe you already are at the end of your adventure in Oxford! I am currently in the midst of exam season, and hopefully I will start working on my dissertation (and the hundreds of academic projects I'm involved in) next week, and your video just got me so inspired to do it! I hope your conference goes well! Lots of love, dear
Hi Ruby I'm a pre medical student, you've always inspired me in studies, since I was in 6th grade. You really made me learn to romanticize studying ❤. Wish I'll get into medical school next year. I'm starting my own study channel too which I've always wanted, thank you for inspiring me.
I still have 2 exams to take and I’m almost done writing my thesis. I will graduate in October but I have my last exam in July and I honestly can’t wait to be done with my undergrad. I plan to make to most of this summer and start my masters the best way possible. All the best of luck Ruby! 💕
Hey ruby, I've been watching you for so long! I've been accepted to Veterinary school recently and began compiling my notes. I HIGHLY suggest Obsidian! It is so freaking amazing and helpfull as well as infinitely customizable. I think you would really like it.
Hi my name is Markus. I live in Sweden and love CS Lewis. I always dreamt about study in Oxford as he. And thanks to you i can at least see it and dream away. A BIG THANK YOU RUBY😊😊😊
Hello. I interpret you see the world through exploratory way of thinking and are deeply drawn to many phenomena it possesses. This kind of devotion is absolutely inspiring and intriguing.
The Castiglione is such a classic and so influential in Renaissance literature throughout Europe! It’s worth reading and then doing a bit of a deep dive into the context and all the works that were influenced by it. The sonnet tradition, for example, owes much to it.
Congratulations Ruby! Love your video's they always make that I want to learn something 😊 One think I find super confusing ist that a master's degree in Germany takes four years and you did everything in one year.
To be honest you got something wrong. A Master in Germany takes in itself 2 years = 4 semesters if you stick to the plan. But there are also some that are only one year.
There is a bachelor degree first in the U.K. which normally takes between three and four years depending on the course, then a masters which takes between one and two, again depending on the specific course. The differences could come about because some might add in elements such as a year in industry, a year in a different country or a lot of practical work. It depends what is most relevant for the subject. There is a huge amount of variation between institutions here in quality of teaching and assessment as well since our nutty political system cannot understand the difference between having a degree and being smart. They believe if they give everyone a degree everyone will be smart and the country will be successful. They can’t understand that some jobs require training best done in other ways regardless of the intelligence of the individual doing it, that 100% of a population with degrees would be the exact same population as the population you had before, just not suitably trained for a variety of jobs. It’s doing a great disservice to the people taking some of these qualifications who then find they are actually not qualified for real world situations but who have wasted years and lots of training and earning potential (and are in debt) to get to that point.
I felt so seen when you talked about always running for your train! Same lol, I tend to put off packing and cleaning until the very last minute. Miraculously, I always make it too! 😂 Congrats on the dissertation by the way! You inspire me. ❤
Your energy is magnetic and your studying is very motivating. Thank you for the magic carpet rides on your academic journey (reference to your Aladin's maigc carpet here 😅❤)
Thank you for your insightful and brilliant vlog. I am also at the final stages of dissertation writing -- PhD in History of Idea -- and really feel lucky to stumble upon your channel thanks to RUclips suggestions that this time appeared to be very on point! You are doing a great work and wish you all the best .... 💫💙
Hi ruby - when you go home for summer could you do a Jane Austen style summer video similar to how you do the nutcracker video at Christmas !! I’ve been reading lately northanger abbey and I feel Jane Austen is perfect in the summer ! 😊
I think your dissertation sounds super interesting! I hope your submission went well, I get my undergraduate dissertation results back next week (I also did mine on the early modern period).
Books at 7:00. It's not hoarding if it's books. One can never have enough. I counted my book collection five years ago and it was just over 7400. I imagine it's well over 8000 today. Living in Oxford is a dream with all those bookstores. I found the same in Dublin and London.

Ruby, writing dissertations are very stressful because I had to do it for my MA in Classical Studies. I worried about not having enough words, chapters and paragraphs being disjointed, and not submitting on time. I had to make changes all the time in my chapters, introduction, and conclusion. I read your Instagram and you submitted your dissertation. Congratulations, Ruby! When will you know your final result?
Watching you work on what you think is important and so excited about it, reminds me of the time when I was in high school and for our biology project I made 'life on outer space' which really interested me and it was a bout life which is biology :study of life, but my teacher failed me in that project because he didn't understand... And I was very surprised but I didn't let it kill me curiosity and love for the type of knowledge that I wanna have but it certainly affects my confidence

Hi Ruby! I wonder if you've heard of the book Surprised by Oxford by Caroline Weber? It was very interesting to read especially after watching your videos at Oxford.
It’s so interesting how much less work is involved in English courses. I’m currently doing my second Masters at a Russell Group uni and we work from September to September, five days a week, 9 to 5, with no time off. We fit assignments and independent research projects around uni work, placements and classes. I guess that’s the difference between training for a specific profession and a subject taken for the joy of it. Would be lovely to do a more leisurely course one day x

Milannote very much looks like the proposal of Ted Nelson for Hypertext. You can get it; it is called Xanadu.
Good luck for your dissertation!
Good luck on your dissertation! 💖
Love your glasses, Ruby!
Never apologize for working hard or loving / being obsessed with what you do!! You're in the midst of postgraduate work- of course you're obsessed with it and want to do well! Give it your best, no apologies! Then, enjoy the rewards, most heartily, not least of which is the well-deserved rest at the end. Good luck with the final stretch. Hi Ruby, what’s the timer you’re using? It looks great and I think it could be helpful with time management for my course

And a quick fiddle, to relax.
Hi Ruby!
I am going to the Oxford Uni open day this week for undergraduates and I was wondering if you have any advice for looking around/must-see places. Your videos are particularly special to me as I am planning to study English Lit next year and your videos are so inspiring for that!
Also, do you have any advice in applying to Oxford? Any interview/admissions test/personal statement tips would be incredible.
Thank you!
Can you name the name of the music at the beginning of the video? It's really beautiful! 😊
He/she who can tell the future consistently and infallibly rules the world. This is the great space race of our times.
Are you going to be making an academic planner for 2024/2025?
What is my only ideal of pure bliss? What did Ernest Hemingway come to enjoy the most in his final years? Sitting in his Idaho mountain garden with a good book/manuscript?
Do you think you can record a real time video of you typing on that keyboard? I love the sound soo much🤩
Isn’t the carpet in Aladdin a reference to a prayer mat
What is the word count you had to do. Mine was 8- 10 thousand. I always hated having to do footnotes and end notes. I'm sure we saved it on a floppy disc that's how long ago it was and you were always bothered it wasn't going to save your work or crash. You would make a mad dash to the uni copy shop to get it bound.
Are you considering doing a DPhil degree?
You should have done your dissertation on the evolution of the character Salvatore Tessio in Mario Puzo’s The Godfather.
Ruby…well done! On another note coukd u please tell me what the lovely fabric is in your bedroom at home..ie the curtains?thankyoi, joy Thompson
OMG .. her sister looks soo diffrent from her!!
