great video, thank you! Our problem was no power, and the cause was a disconnect in the power cord just beyond the cord cap. My husband noted that the cable would be kinked at 90 degrees when the cord was taut. Using a electrical tester/voltage tester, he was able to determine power was not making it to the point of contact of cord to vacuum. So he cut off a 6 inch section of the power cord, including the cord cap, and replaced it with makeshift wires and plug, and voila - when he plugged it in, the vacuum worked! He thought the problem might be a break in the wires of the power cord near the cord cap, after he noticed there was no power at the cord reel transfer point, and that's how he determined the power failure was at the cable, and not anything else. Prior to that, he tested for continuity in the power switch and the cord reel (both of which tested fine), per your instructions on your website. Thank you!
I'm just in the middle of it breaking switch won't come on didn't no how to open it till I saw this, yes thank you. I wonder are they known for the power switch going, I'm a bit surprised with Miele.
Thank you for making this video! I found a white C3 today that did not work. Like you said the cord reel is broken, the blue wire is broken exactly where it leaves the reel. I am not going to bother with it today but at least I know what is wrong with it. Thanks again!
Well that is a cliffhanger!! I have the situation where the machine (Miele C3 Complete) sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. I replaced the powerswitch, but it didn't change. Right at the end of your video you say: " If you find that the switch is functioning, you have something else going on here. There's a couple of differen possibilities" END of VIDEO! lol Can you please tell me what those are? I hope I can fix it myself, but I need some pointers I guess... Hoping to hear! Thanks for your great video, it helped me in the first steps in repairing!
If there’s a blockage somewhere it will heat up then when you switch it off and it cools down it will start again. I suggest checking the whole machine for blockages and if you have an air compressor to blow it out. Good luck
Thanks for a great tutorial. What's the diagnosis for a faulty switch? I have a dead unit but when you try to switch it on, the display light blinks once then goes off...recently replaced the motor brushes too. Would it be the board or the motor or the switch? Thanks for your help.
In order of likelihood that is most likely a motor failure. It could be the PCB. In the case of the C3 that have suction in the handle it could be the hoe assembly. It is not the power switch or cord reel.
I translated with google: I have a Miele S8340. Only the minimum lamp flashes constantly, no other function. First I replaced the electrolytic capacitor on the control board. Without success. Then I Opened the engine and checked the circuit board with the triac. Visually there is no error to be seen. Now Re-soldered the soldering points and reassembled everything. Also without success. The min. lamp just flashes. However, if I turn the power switch on and off several times in a row, the motor twitches sometimes. When I switch on the vacuum cleaner after a few days of rest, the min. lamp flashes and after about 10 seconds the engine suddenly starts. If I then switch it off and on again, only the lamp flashes again and the motor does not start. What could that be? Is this due to the triac in the motor or rather to the control board? I would be very grateful for an answer.
@@loukasdimitriou4583 Unfortunately not. But I think the control board is defective. I bought used control boards on eBay. After installation, the buttons and lights responded again. But the engine now always ran at full power. I think the boards from Ebay are also defective.
Quick question if you don’t mind. I have a Miele canister vacuum and the other day I pressed on the power switch the vacuum turned on for 1 second then just died and now won’t turn back on. I don’t think it’s clogged do you think it’s this power button? Ok peace out bye
Normally if a unit is clogged it takes several minutes of run time before the thermal sensor kicks in and turns the unit off. In your case since it is nearly instant there is a decent chance it could be the switch.
I use to have an old electrolux. It was an unkillable machine. The switch died after maybe 30 years of use. I opened it easily with SCREWs and bypassed the switch. Now I am stuck with this Miele C3 model, all plastic, cannot repair yourself, the switch died after 4 years with weekly use.
I appreciate how descriptive you are, better than most. But I would have liked to see the complete repair.

Ours comes on as soon as you plug it in( c3), any ideas on the issue?
Thank you - this was incredibly useful.

I would guess the board but definitely not the power switch.
@@joshyouwa it was the transistor inside the motor housing. I managed to get it soldered and it's working again 👍
@@ayazali5251 i have the same symptoms, could you elaborate on what component eas defective and what you did to fix it?
@@darkstarrone8764 there is a video on YT on how to replace a blown transistor on a C3 model... hopefully that should solve it👍🏼
Hello sir what's the remedy if it's over heating led light? But I check the motors seems ok... I have an 6ohms and 60ohms reading😊
Hi there, we recommend bringing it to your closest service center for Miele, www.mieleusa.com/c/dealer-search-15.htm

Hi, i bought a used miele c3 but when i turned on its not working and i see a ⚠️ light what's that mean and thank you

@@vacuumsrus Incorrect. That light is a warning not to buy a used C3 because as Mom said "If it's too good to be true, it is."
