    If Miele vacuum stops working, it may be that your plug wiring is broken, which is a $5 fix that takes 15 minutes. I followed the very helpful video above to take apart my Miele C-1 Compact and traced the problem to the male plug wiring. I cut the plug and about 6" of wire off and replaced it with a new receptacle, and my problem was solved. I then went back and tested my old Miele Neptune that the repair man had said probably had a broken switch and would cost almost as much to repair as a buying a new one (so we bought a new one). It had the same problem, and the same solution. I am guessing the auto rewind stresses the surprisingly thin gauge receptacle wiring every time the plug hits the chassis when it is rewound. Take home lesson is that if your Miele stops working, instead of taking it apart, you might first try just replacing the plug and a little bit of the wiring upstream of the plug. No harm if it doesn't fix the problem, and then you can take the Miele apart, which is kind of fun, but a bit time consuming the first time. Had I known the plugs tend to fail, it would have saved me hours, so thought I would share the experience for the benefit of others.

    I love my S2. Bought a Delphi from a Miele dealer in 2010 and it has been flawless ever since. A few friends have become Miele owners after being amazed at how quiet and smooth the machine is...and at $499 for the Delphi with the SEB 217, it was cheaper than a Dyson...picture that, a precision-made, German Miele for less money than a Malayasian Dumpster Dyson. :)

    Thats good that Miele has there own boxs when shipping parts. Just one more thing that shows their professionalism. I work on commercial ice machines and its the same. You buy a part from scotsman ice it has "scotsman" on the cardboard.

    Genuine question. I have a C1 Classic Cat and Dog. It's less than 4 months old. By what I've read it's not a sealed system. Is the plastic housing fitting together so tight going to justify using a HEPA filter? I only have seasonal allergies (Ragweed) and am trying to figure out of the thin filter that comes with the bags are enough or if it's sealed enough to justify using a HEPA filter.

    I have that exact same vacuum and it's about 5 years old. The plug where it goes into the wall gets pretty warm when we use it so I want to replace the cord. Do I have to buy the entire assembly or can I, after viewing your video, take it apart and just replace the cord on the reel? To me, it should be something doable. I realize that you are a factory service center but I don't want to have to buy a new reel assy. if I can help it. It would probably cost me as much as a new vacuum. I know I could just put a new cord end on the cord but I'd much rather put a cord with a molded plug on it. Thanks for taking the time to show us all how to repair our out of warranty vacuums.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  6 лет назад

      Take it to a service center to verify the problem. Some heat on the cord is normal. change it as a whole assembly is molded into the part itself.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this very informative video. Have you ever seen issues with the rotary power switch detents failing? My S2121 will not hold tension on power settings. Even the slightest bump into a wall will cause it to turn slightly to another power setting. Can the tension be increased, or do I need to replace the entire potentiometer assembly

    Looking through your videos, and other than a comment here or there, can you elaborate on the different canister models? My take is almost like Mercedes in the S class is older than the C class.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  5 лет назад +1

      There are a couple of different videos about their showing the different models but generally there's always three levels of Miele being made at any given time . I'll do a video on this next month . I think you might also reevaluate your take on Mercedes class system which is extremely over complicated.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  6 лет назад +5

      Moshe ben Asher I have I don't know if I have it on video. It uses the same filters as some of their other models and definitely blows a zero. Miele has a misprint that it's not a sealed unit. But as you see when it's taking apart the motor is definitely sealed off in its own compartment and all the air is forced through the HEPA filter.

    • @kharakim
      @kharakim 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the reply. I have read in several places that the Classic C1, at least the machine I recently bought, is not sealed as well as the C2 and C3. So I'm glad to know that the C1 also "blows a zero."
      Have enjoyed and learned a lot from your videos, not because I plan to service my own machine, but because it allows us to use it more effectively.
      Incidentally, my previous Miele (S256i I think) ran for nearly 30 years without servicing, although I was careful with bag and filter changes, and the only problems that ever came up were a failing power switch and cord reel. When I got the Classic C1, the sales man said the machine should have a $60 service annually. What's your take on that recommendation? (We live in a one-bedroom apartment, with no children or pets, and with apartment-grade low-pile carpeting, and don't smoke.)

    • @tylerbock5058
      @tylerbock5058 6 лет назад

      what do you mean by misprint? They say it is not completely sealed in all of their videos. It seems more like a marketing tactic to get you to buy the more expensive units.

  • @LlyleHunter
    @LlyleHunter 7 лет назад

    Nice job. You really know your way around a machine. I always wondered how they made the unit compact and gave it the large bag from the S5 and C3 which they couldn't with the C2. Would you consider the C2 as robust as the C1? Also if you get one of the metal Electroluxs in from the 70's and 80's (The old 1500 models) I'd like to see how one of those is disassembled. Recently Miele came out with a model called Pure Suction. Am I correct that it is being called a C1 though it appears to be a C2. I may buy one and add a turbo nozzle and an adjustable Universal dusting tool. I think that it's a C2 which I really like. The Olympus was their entry model but the Pure Suction comes with a metal sole plate on the combination tool that I much prefer. Thanx. And good show!

      @PerformanceReviews  7 лет назад

      +Bruce Solomon the C2 or s6 is really solid machine. But the machine you're referring to is rebranded s4000 and is also solid. I will definitely do a video if I get a Super J Electrolux in.

    What do think of Bosh Vacuums , do you ever service Bosh Vacuums . Are they built like Miele ? The new EU standards Miele was 2000 watts c3 , then 1200 watts and now under the EU standards under 900 watts country's like Australia they are still at the 2000 watts are they dumping all there older 2000 watts there ? Will they still clean well wend they least than 1000 watts . Nose
    why are vacuums have so much nose and with the lower wattages are becoming quieter . With a Miele that has a 2000 watt mooter
    will you still be able get the replacement or would you need to go to a newer lower wattage . Thanks for sharing the video's and your time .
