After what happened to us in Louisiana several times between 2005 and 2020 I`ve developed a lot more fear of these storms. A storm after Katrina in 2005 knocked out the power for over a week when I was living in NW La and the door blew open during the night and I was devoured by mosquitoes and nearly died from West Nile. My dad caught it too at his place and the doc said he was hours away from death when he came in.
Then Gustav hit the area where I am now in 2008 I think. I stood on my friend`s porch watching tree after tree get blown down and there was nowhere to go to escape. The only good thing about it was I had lost my job right before and the Red Cross gave me cases of MREs and others who didn`t like them gave me theirs. There was enough for two meals in each one.
Then two storms hit my area in 2020. No power for three weeks and there was 17,000 in damage to the roof in the home I was in at the time. It came very near to completely destroying the home. I think a small tornado hit because several trees were blown down or broken in half nearby and in the yard and the porch was destroyed. We could see light through the ceiling in the livingroom. It was so hot and humid with no breeze afterwards and I had to sit outside with the mosquitoes for weeks. I think I had a heatstroke. I have a mosquito hut thing now.

@@mamaremy628 I lived in Kaplan in South Louisiana back in 2014 and they said crabs washed in on their rice fields because of Rita. I think that`s the one that hit Logansport, La when I lived there. The power was out for over a week. Several crews of us there who commercial fished and had large flatbottom aluminum boats were planning to go help rescue people in New Orleans but the state police set up road blocks and weren`t allowing rescuers to enter supposedly because of violence.

Houston here. Nobody expected Beryl to go where it went. I suggest everyone prepare. Act like you’ll be out of power for 3 weeks. Prepare your home. Even if it’s just thunderstorms it’s better to be safe.

You're jumping the gun. I mean, it's possible that it could affect Florida. But we don't know yet. It's too early to know where this thing could go and how strong it'll get. Things can change.

I do believe we’re gonna have a very busy August even if this wave does not develop we still have a lot more in store in the coming weeks. But I have a joke for you, Pat. I will call it the “path predictor promise” because I know you’ll provide updates as conditions warrant. I’ll see how the next few days plays out that’s all.
