- The Lake District is busy on a cold winters morning and we struggle to get parked. We make are way up Sticks Pass where we get water by dropping down slightly the other side of the Pass. Are plans keep changing as we struggle through the deep snow and have to admit defeat trying to reach Hart Side summit, so make a decision to head for Stybarrow Dodd home for the night. After pitching and struggling once more to get the pegs in the frozen ground the wind picks up and there’s a slight dusting of snow to cover the tents. The night is still for a time and myself and Darren enjoy a night out of the tents chatting and taking in the night sky. The following morning the wind picks up but we are rewarded with a stunning sunrise and mountain view’s. Once packed up we make are way down the way we came up in the deep snow. Fantastic winter snowy camp with stunning Lake District views. 😎⛄️

Take only memories, Leave only footprints, Thanks for watching ATB Karl.
Think this is just after I got out....hoping for another dose soon...... awesome. Nothing like a walk around the tent in the night, in the snow, on a summit....👍
This was filmed 11th - 12th of January I think the snow was all gone 4 days later, 😢 Your right it was nice to be out the tents at night in the snow on a summit having a good chat. Hopefully we’ll get another dumping of snow before winters over. Thanks for watching John atb Karl 👍🙏
Great video, fantastic to watch. Your nailing it mate😉👍
Thank you Phil I really appreciate your kind comment makes it all worth while. 👍 glad you enjoyed the video it was a great snowy camp. Atb Karl 🙏👍

@TheSummitexplorer69 👍🙂
Nice video Karl mate. I missed the lakes this year with its Winter coat on it looked stunning. Fingers crossed we get another arctic blast before spring. 🥶😁
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback, love the Lake District in winter time, hopefully we’ll get more snow before spring 🙏 atb Karl 👍
It’s like a palace is that mate 👍
Thanks for watching and commenting Bernard appreciated as always 👍 yeh the Nammatj has definitely got more space for these long winter camps absolutely love it. Atb Karl 👍🙏
Great video again Karl it was a cracking weekend. I have no idea what you mean by earplugs and something about an asthmatic walrus 😮 too many Brewdogs maybe 🤔 😂
@@bluehighfly Certainly was mate, you wouldn't know because your usually snoring your head off 😴🤣 ATB Karl 👍
Great conditions! Fancy a nammatj, but impossible to find just now. ATB
@@Fellmandave1 Thanks for watching Dave and commenting it’s always appreciated. I enjoy your channel by the way. 👍 The conditions were almost perfect for a snowy winter camp sadly it’s all gone now, hopefully we might get another dumping of snow before winters out. I’m on my second winter with the Nammatj and it’s a great tent for these long winter camps but I had to wait 8 months before I got my hands on this one. Nordic Outdoors in Scotland are the people to speak to I’ve had a few Hillebergs of them now, if anyone can get one there a good starting point. Atb Karl 👍🙏
Ey up Karl. Superb mate, what an epic camp that was. Shame about the wind, but, hey you can't have everything. haha
I've felt rough as a dog all week, but need to some fresh air, so I'm off for a shortish walk in the Forest of Bowland tomorrow. I will use it to suss out some potential camp spots too!
All the best mate.
@@DAoutdoors Thanks Dave, yes it was almost a perfect winter camp ⛺️ shame all the snows gone now hopefully it will be back. Enjoy the forest of bowland never camped around there would be interesting to know if you find anything? ATB Karl 👍
@@TheSummitexplorer69 I will let you know mate. I'm going up Whins Brow, so we will see what the ground is like up there.
Great video mate 👍🏼... It's a hard slog with the added difficulty of snow! Just stumbled upon your channel and will definitely watch more! New sub from me 🫡
It was certainly tuff going in the deep snow and with heavy packs made it very slow going. Fantastic camp though really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for watching and the sub its really appreciated. Atb Karl 👍🙏
Had a nammatj 2 in the past, now have a Soulo BL, Akto and Anjan 2..
Preffered the nammatj to my nallo 2 due to the big vent at each end with the guylines at each end making it more stable and giving great vetilation. Also the fact that you dont lose living space due to the wind flattening half the roof of the nallo 2
@@DemiGod.. Thank you for watching and commenting, I do love the Hilleberg tents I think I’ve now got the perfect three to suit my needs for all year round camping. I did consider the Nallo 2 but waited for the Nammatj 2 and I’m really pleased with it. Enjoy your Hillys there great tents, and thanks again for watching my video it’s really appreciated. Atb Karl 👍🙏
How organised are you mate. I must give it a try!
Ha Ha it’s my OCD Dave everything in its place. 🤣 Thanks for watching mate really appreciated. Atb Karl 👍🙏
When was this mate?
@@Jk_outdoors_ January 11/12th was you on another fell? ATB Karl 👍
Why do winter campers never take a small hammer fr the pegs, and to grt pegs out drop hot water atb
Thanks for watching and commenting, winter time is my favourite time in the Lake District very different to summer time and a great experience although not for everyone. We used a small rock for getting the pegs in, but a hammer would have come in handy, we nearly resorted to using hot water but the pegs came out with little persuasion. Thanks again atb Karl 🙏👍
