      @@rabbitathomestead I know what you mean. One of our does, Midnight, is a bit fussy about breeding... but she's such a wonderful mom, and we adore her. 🐇🥰✌️

      Yep, coyotes took over after the wolves were wiped out. Coyotes are everywhere now, including urban areas like Chicago.

    I’d get some caging around the bottom asap .. animals can easily pull them through the grill also rip the cage apart.. once they come … hey will always come

      Thank you! We have three hutches. One holds three stalls and the other two hold 2 large stalls. So all together I have 7 stalls for rabbits.

      I think you have really nice houses for your rabbits. I am not able to afford such luxuries like that. And I don’t really know how to build things or to use electrical tools. So I’m hoping to use pallets and wrap the side closer to the rabbits with rabbit wire and the outer side too to make it harder for predators to get to the rabbits. I would like to have metal roofs for them. But I don’t know how to manage that. I had rabbits when I lived in a different house. At the time some Boy Scouts had build me a hutch. And later on a friend and build me one out of pallets. It was sturdy and huge!!!!!!!!! I was able to divide that section into 2. So I’m hoping to do something like that again. I love it when you talk about your rabbits and when I watched all of your videos I will start them over to watch them again.

    Animals will eat the toes off of rabbits from under their cages. My Dad had that happen to some so we added a second wire strip all the way across. We used chicken wire so manure would fall through.

      Wow that's terrible!
      That's a good idea. I was surprised they came up so close to the house. But it is winter and they are probably hungry enough to come closer.

    Wondering what kind of sticks you give them to chew?Do you buy them? And…. could you use a screen bottom nest box with a square of cardboard to collect urine.

    Hey, I know this is an old video. But I just love to hear you talk about your rabbits. I don’t have any yet. I hope I will have some soon. I live in the city limits and the city told me I won’t be able to process my rabbits outdoors . I don’t have a clean place like that to do this inside the house. What do you suggest I do about this?

    I have been devouring your videos and am in the process of building my hutches. I see you get a bit of snow but wondering how cold it gets there. I can get down to -50 so trying to plan accordingly. Thanks

    • @rabbitathomestead
      @rabbitathomestead  Год назад +1

      That's great! We get down to -20s. I make sure the wind stays off of them and they are dry. I also give does and bucks nest boxes to cuddle up in with hay and Aspen shavings

    I see you have the hutches really close to the house. Are they always that close?

    • @rabbitathomestead
      @rabbitathomestead  Год назад +1

      Yes, it's just easier for us to get too in the winter and in the summer it's better to have them close to the house because wildlife is less likely to bother them.

    • @rabbitathomestead
      @rabbitathomestead  Год назад +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed! We get down in sub zero temps. As long as they have the wind off of them and they stay dry, they will be fine. Once temps hit below freezing I like to give my breeders nest boxes with hay and Aspen shavings to sleep in.
