I just loved your channel!!! is there a way that you could explain about mounting several transparencies like the one you show with the foam?? I loved that concept!
Thats a very cool idea, recently I´ve got a Lomo Instant Camera and I just love the experience of shooting instant film, so I have a question, can you do a lift or transparency with fujifilm intax film?
Paco, this is a really Cool addition to add to what else I can do with my two Polaroid One Step 600. I am also interested in the larger 8X10, because I didn't know about Polaroid 8X10, I hope you have a video on that.
Thanks for the great video! I just bought a Polaroid 636 Close Up camera and want tot learn how to do magic!! About the transparency technique.. I tried it but it was almost completely white. Do I have to use a fresh shot to pull off the back of the frame? I would really appreciate an answere! Greatings from Germany.
Great video! You may know this already, but if you wash away the white stuff, on the back side, you will get a negative. Not a clear negative like film, but a negative of the image.
Hi :) I tried to do that with a color picture and it worked ! The trick : heat the image beforehand (not too close thought) with a hair dryer for about 30sec, after that the peeling went great without leaving any developper stains.
I've tried this twice and the image keeps getting partially stuck to the bottom and stretches the whole image. Argh! Maybe it doesn't work with Impossible film?
Just found this vid. Thank you for the idea. Quick question: could you please be more specific the time frame? You mentioned an ideal window between developing and cutting the image away from the print. How much time do I have from when the picture is taken?
+Elie Harriett Hey, so the best timing is about 10-20min after you took the image, there are a few thing that change this time the most important temperature. But as rule of thumb, when the image is finally developed and you dont see any blue fog anymore.
keep sharing your creative ideas with us! I just wanted to ask if the pictures your friend took were in color or if they were black and white. Thank you!
+Athina Katsoula I will and hope you will enjoy the new videos. The pictures where on black and white image film, with color you can't get a clear transparency as far as i know.
So cool, nice video and instruction. Would this work with color? I am getting the new Polaroid originals one step 2 with color and black/white film in a few weeks!
+mARTa gonzales Art and Photography Yes it will work with color but the emulsion is really sticky so you need to slowly push it of the pvc layer with your fingers. The rest of the process is the same.
Analog Things Thank you for your videos, they are full of much appreciated details. I do wonder on the transparencies if you have found a way to gently remove the small bits of white left behind or even larger bits. To what degree should you be satisfied to leave them? Your Grandfather is in our prayers... as well as you and your family. My name is Jody... this is my husbands subscription...
+Rick Huntling Hey Rick, thanks alot. I havn't found a way to get them of the images, if i happen to have to much of it on the images i do a lift. The problem for me is as soon as i try getting them of with water the images changes.
Awesome video, you think it is possible to do it with Fujifilm Instax ? Same for your video about Polaroid lift, suitable for Instax as well ? Thank you 👌
Yeah i did but the result is nothing special for transparencies i prefer photographing them if you go with multilayer on different distances, but not scanning them with backlight.
just watched your polaroid 600 how to after finding my momz old polaroid. definitely fitna catch up on your videos so I can get even more creative in web3
I know you mention that you shouldn't get the polaroid developer paste on your hands, but why not wear a pair of gloves (like, nitrile or latex gloves or something) while doing this? Seems the safest way to do this.
You're a legend! Thank you for sharing your talents with us. How long do you recommend waiting after the exposure before pealing the transparency? I have found that the color emulsion is unforgiving but from what I can tell black and white is easier to separate.
+Link LOLZ Haha Thanks Link. I would suggest to wait till the images is finally developed and then you got a timeframe of 10-15min in which i have the best results. Transparencies for me only work with black and white.
Hi! Some say you MUST use an hair dryer and you can't do otherwise. I tryed many times, but the white layer keep still on the image. What do you say about hair dryer?
Hey, yeah the hair dryer is also an option, but i never used it i know it can work pretty good. Since i got the timing out pretty good and how to peel the image i dont need a hair dryer. What time after you shot the image do you peel it? Are you bending the image really strong?
Analog Things Since some said me I need an hair dryer I had to wait about 3 hours. I didn't bend the image strong. I didn't bending it almost at all actually. A workshopper told me I could do it throughtout the day.
Well, give it a try with my timing just shortly after the developing is finished and bend it like i do in the video. It could be possible for a day but best results are straight after you shot it.
*This is a really awesome technique!!* It's a great starting point for getting really creative with Polaroids and I already have some forest photos I want to try this with. Thanks for sharing!
Can you use this technique and the emulsion lift technique on Spectra film as well? I'm just getting into instant film photography and just required a OneStep+ and looking into getting a Spectra SE for the wide format.
yes works the same with spectra only the edges of the spectra film are a little different. watch out with spectra cause PO has some problems with producing spectra film
Nice LUT on your video. It looks great. This has given me a real ideas boost for future projects with my photography. Any idea what the longest amount of time is before the chemicals stick to the image? I tried this on a really old failed image just to practice my cutting technique (which was awful. i think ill use a mat and a ruler hehe). The chemicals were fixed to the image on this old print.
edit: i just read a reply where you said about 20 mins. So something to keep in mind before anyone tries this is this technique is not really to be used on photos you take when you are away from home/workspace.
I have not found a way to use the back of the polaroid. If you wash of the chemistry you will get the negative, but the chemistry attacks the negative and it has really strong grain. Have to try it with the current batch from Polaroid Originals if it's still the same. cheers marco
Thanks Marco ! if you have the time check out my polaroid shots on instagram instagram.com/filipe.raimundo79/ i will keep in touch! I will try to wash the back to see the results normal bleach .

Lets take your friend's foamboard layers as an example - If I were to mount a small LED light in the back and add another white board (so the light illuminates the white board and we can see the images through the front), or even just mounting the back of the art to a window - would the black fade away over time due to the light / sun interaction? I know Polaroids don't fade (despite what they say), but not sure about direct sunlight. What would be interesting is mounting the transparencies on glass, hanging them and letting light shine through, giving the impression of the old Glass Positives.
Hey, it depends but all sources of light will fade the image with time also i would not go to close with LED to the transparency, i know they don't generate alot of heat but still that little bit could effect the image. Since the Chemistry is PO and we have no long time information for that film i would not expose it for long time to UV light, they will fade i'm pretty sure. But i will take one transparency and glue it to my window to see what happens after a month of winter "sun"

I just put some acid free paper behind the image and store it in some glassine sleeves. If i frame it the frame should generate enough pressure to hold the paper behind the image. Last option would be to use acid free tape and glue it to the remaining frame.

Is there a possible to enlarging this in darkroom on photo paper?
you would need to make a neg of it and than contact print or something like this
So this doesn't work with color film? Can you still do this days or weeks later or does it need to be soon after development?
I have not managed todo it with color film. Needs to be in a short timeframe after development, about 30min

yes, but the image could fade with time if it's a strong light source, but that happens to every image
