    I've been vegetarian for 7 months and vegan for 1.5 months. I have autoimmune issues (Hashimoto's/ Addison's Disease) and I have never felt so amazing. I had assumed these conditions would make me forever feel low in energy, but I am now as active as ever. I am so happy, and never experienced these benefits with vegetarianism alone. The weight loss is also pretty cool.

    My cousin’s daughter (age 10) was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. T1D is an autoimmune disorder where risk increases with consumption of dairy casein.

    • @mahakavi12
      @mahakavi12 2 года назад +1

      It is not casein but alpha lactalbumin in milk that is targeted by the immune system. The same immune system attacks the pancreatic islets because of a resemblance of the surface to alpha lactalbumin structure. Hence insulin secretion is absent leading to T1D. Once the immune system gears into work you could not prevent the autoimmune havoc.

    I consumed a TON of milk as a kid and adult, but a couple of years ago my body started a revolt and I stopped consuming dairy when I vomited every time I did. I also had to stop consuming gluten because I had a reaction as well. One phone call with a health coach led to me adopting a whole foods plant based diet. My health drastically improved. I fell off the wagon once and got really sick again, but I'm back on tract now and haven't had dairy in at 2 years. Processed food makes me sick so I stick with wfpb. I don't even look at dairy.

    I was an athlete at one time - doing 5k's and triathlons. The reason why people eat dairy chocolate milk after exercising is for the magnesium in chocolate (plus caffeine - which helps with muscle recovery), which relaxes muscles. Milk has potassium and sodium - which replace lost electrolytes. It also has whey - which is a recovery protein for building muscle mass after tearing muscle to build it. So you don't need milk for magnesium - it has nothing in it. if you want to relax muscles - you can use bananas for potassium and baking soda for the salt. It also neutralizes acids formed from exercise. Milk is inflammatory with its acids and just adds onto the acid load - which means you're breaking down muscle just to build up more - which makes no sense. It likely would lead to extra pains - which is what happened to me when I drank chocolate milk after exercise.
    Instead - I recommend (if you eat chocolate, which I don't) - chocolate, bananas, baking soda, and a high protein oat milk (as it has the same electrolytes as milk and the proteins too). I personally like pea milk - so that works too. Both together is perfect!
    However, I developed something called an athletic lunch - which is way better - rice protein, orange juice, and berries (for antioxidants in recovery).
    The truth is - you shouldn't feel pain after you exercise - as muscles don't really have pain-sensing nerves - those're under your skin. Instead that's a sign there's an issue with acid overload or an injury - which should be tended to - rather than think 'no gain, no gain' - which isn't true! By going back to the gym - you can cause injuries and acids to get worse.

    I’m new to the vegan plant base diet and one of the things I was worried about when I did my research was how to get my vitamin B12 and omega 3 fats and I found out that Ka’chava which is a plant based protein powder give you your daily intake of vitamin B12 and a 12 ounce of butternut squash gives you your daily requirement of omega 3. Since I eat just one meal a day when I break my fast, I start with a smoothie mixture of Ka’chava protein powder and my roasted butternut squash and that’s complete meal for me.

    I can see how historically when humans moved from hunting/gathering to farming, life became more sustainable & safer. Dairy & meat were solid forms of food to stave off starvation. Coming from a farming background, like Dr Barnard, I grew up thinking dairy & meat were fundamental building blocks of our diet. From a compassionate standpoint my family were organic & not intensive farmers but things have changed & of course now they are due to economic pressures, modern methods etc etc. We have to hammer home the science (such as given here) to convince people to adopt a WFPB lifestyle. Keep up the good work 👍

      Assuming your assertions are correct it's just your personal experience, i.e. anecdotal. We can't really draw general conclusions from one person that apply to everyone. When we put many people together and study them, we can draw conclusions and apply those to everyone more accurately. So, it's possible you have exceptional dairy-tolerant genes that also manage high-fat consumption well, and that you really don't have any issues because of dairy. That doesn't mean that dairy is healthful, nor that it doesn't affect most people adversely. There is real evidence that saturated fat is the cause of many illnesses, and so advocating anything with saturated fat is dangerous.

      I have been a milk drinker all my life. I enjoy 2 to 3 glasses of non-homogenized creamline milk daily. It is produced by a small, local, family-owned dairy. I'm 67-years-old and I've been in excellent health all my life. I'm much more concerned about the effects of sugars added to alternative "milks" than the alleged evils of dairy.

    Milk can be very healthy for you if you have the genes for it. Many people in the world don't handle dairy well and shouldn't use it. Those that have the genes for it actually do better with it. Our genes have a lot to do with what we can digest and use as food. You do have to avoid hormones and antibiotic fed cows. Go low fat if you don't want fats. But if you want to avoid diabetes ,avoid breads and pasta as they are the worst for diabetics. Seafood ,nuts, wheat, and beans can be a major poison for many people also if their genes are against them. These are very nutritious foods for those with the genes to handle them. What I'd like to see is studies that take into account genetic variations of groups. One size doesn't fit all when it comes to food.

My blood sugar shot up to 300 , I stopped eating breads/pastas/cereal completely and watched my carb intake and it went down to 75. I never stopped whole milk and had to consume 2000 calories a day. I still lost a lot of weight. I can't consume beans unfortunately, and omega 3 fats are the best for me. I reintroduced breads and pasta in moderation(small amounts) and my blood sugar went up. Pure sugars aren't good for you and sodas/excessive fruit juices are some of the worst things for people with diabetes.

      @@jussilahteenmaki3475 I never said I didn't drink water. I feel like you're being unnecessarily hostile? And I'm talking about store bought oat milk. They sweeten it in a similar process as what is used to turn corn into corn syrup, although instead they use oats. That's why if you read the label (at least using American labeling standards), it states it has added sugars despite sugar not being an ingredient. This is why oat milk is typically sweeter than other plant milks that don't have sugar as an ingredient. The issue with my Crohn's disease is that I can't have simple sugars like that.
