Thank you so much for posting this video. Recently I had a pressurisation problem on my central heating system which required the pressure to be brought back down and so I had to bleed a rad for about 20 minutes. The rad is just like the one featured in your video. The side panels came off so easily that I didn't need to examine how to go about that bit, but when it came to replace them I was anxious not to overexert anywhere and then permanently break something. The first thing I thought of was to try RUclips and I found your gem of a vid and all is happily back to normal. I'd just like to pay enormous thanks to the good folks like you who take the time to upload videos like this because you provide a great service to the general public. What with COVID and the like this year, life is stressful enough without needing issues like mine to add their two-pennyworth. Cheers, 5 Minute Man.
Cheers for this, just bought a new house and the radiators are full of dust and previous tenants kids have pushed small toys and hair bands through the vents. Cleaning rads this weekend 👍
Mine look similar to this but don't have any catches and instead have two phillips head screws that hold the side covers in place on their bottom edge(near the pipes). Worth double checking as if you have this type you will just damage your radiator getting it off with the screws still in place.
Great video, thank you, My problem is that the plastic ring at the base of each side panel has been installed upside down, so I cant release them, Apart from cutting the rings to remove them, can you suggest any way around this problem?
I know it's an old question but if anyone else has the same issue... If you look on the inside of the plastic bracket you will see 2 little tabs, one either side. You can get a screwdriver to push the tab to rotate the bracket into position.
I have a central plastic piece inside holding the top down that I can't get to. It seems to want to push to the side, but it won't budge without breaking.
@@fiveminuteman Yeah I can't find anyone with one like mine. It's not that long but has a strong plastic arm coming up the middle holding the top down, and as it goes between the fins it prevents me pushing it sideways.

Should help in the winter with convection so heat rises nicely between radiator and wall.

Thanks!
I have worked it out! There are plastic screws on the sides (they just look like strips!). Then the job is easy.
Thank you for this. Helpful & easy to follow 🙂
No problem😉👍

Cheers for that and glad it helped.👍😀
Mine only has one round hole for the valve bit. IE there is nowhere to lift up to. Trying to retrieve my stuck earring, bloomin kids!
Mission of the day😉👍
What to do if the top is over the side?
Cry😥

Hmmm the top ones are usually lose with the side ones having metal catches to the valve body of the rad.
Just spotted your posting on James the plumber channel 👍😀
