Yeah I was confused by that. I mean I'm not an pro athelete, but if I was I think I'd make my last meals before the event something "safe" to avoid any digestive upset. One time i went along with my good friend to his jiujitsu tournament. The night before I ate at a restaurant, that was in the hotel we stayed in. Next day I ended getting food poisoning, leading me to puking and shitting myself the whole time he was a his tournament. So I could totally see the restaurant food thing being a real excuse.
The fact that GSP was so much better than everyone in terms of pure skill that his opponents could not come to terms with the fact they were not even in his league, not even the best of them and therefore had to come up some of the most ridiculous excuses ever to help them cope with reality.

To be fair to Jackson the Yakuza, who are more than capable of poisoning a fighter, were virtually in charge of pride. They definitely could have done it to boost Sakuraba's popularity and notoriety, a "hometown" superstar. Maybe Rampage refused to fix the fight and ... other methods... were employed... or he had food poisoning...

How in the hell is having a torn acl a bad excuse? I mean it's one thing if she wasn't actually injured like Tito, but Macy legit tore her acl and couldn't even stand or put weight on it. That's honestly the only excuse on here that's acceptable except for the food poisoning ones but i don't know for sure if those are true
in fairness, when you are fighting you dont even feel acl,mcl,pcl,lcl injuries. I fully tore of my mcl in sparring and sparred 7 more rounds after the injury. It wasnt until I got up from the computer at the front of the gym than my hand touched my knee and a yelp came out of my mouth. I looked around to see who got hurt until I realized the noise came from me. When I woke up the next day my leg was frozen. But honestly when it tore it just felt like someone put fibre glass in my knee and it was just really really itchy. I kept wanted to scratch at it while I sparred. You can 100% still stand on it and even run and fight. You just wont generate much power and have no balance. And each subsequent trauma to the area makes the injury much worse.

3:52 Shouldn't on this list. Way to early stoppage...even for a regular fight....but especially for a championship fight. Valid circumstances shouldn't be on this list IMO. "Cruz is usually humble in defeat....but this time he wasn't".....Um yeah maybe because it was a bs stoppage. The Cody fight was a clear loss but to have a fight end so early in a championship match is horrible. That has never happened to me, but I've been in an mma match were my opponent was screwed by the ref by an early stoppage and I felt bad for him. He was totally fine but the ref stopped it like I was murdering him or something.

While I don't think the Cruz fight was a bad stoppage, I also don't think Dom is being too out of line by being angry there. Cruz does have sort of a history of getting his ass beat on the ground until he just explodes up. So it isn't too absurd to believe he was just eating a couple shots, taking some deep breathes, and preparing to get up as explosively as he could. That being said, he was eating a lot of shots and Cejudo is a world class wrestler so whatever Cruz was about to try probably wasn't going to work out too well any way
