I saw him in Louisville, Ky in the mid 2000. Not only was he an outstanding talent, accordion player, singer, band leader, but an exquisite and unique showman. Rest in peace, Buckwheat, miss you.

Buckwheat was the guy that influenced me to play the accordion. I saw him in Oregon at a filbert festival and that was it. What contagious music. It’s so much fun to play - never as good as him of course!!!

Saw Buck for the first time when he opened for Fats in Portland, OR. Went out the next day and bought every Buckwheat Zydeco album I could find. Met him a few years later. What a talented and gracious person.

One of the greatest musicians that came from Louisiana real talk ..This man was beyond just zydeco music he actually could play R&B , blues pop , I saw him make an origin jump ... and I’m not playing ....He kept the real zydeco culture alive because he always kept the culture alive by speaking in creole French he was always making sure people knew their language

Dang, I love Stanley, but this was above and beyond. I first stumbled into Buckwheat Zydeco in the Flats of Cleveland, Ohio at least 35 years ago. A hard core rock-n-roll crowd and they tore the place up with a rendition of "Hey Good Lookin". Then brought the house down with "Hey Joe". Had to be 15 years later, I took my mother to see them and a rendition of "Walking to New Orleans" about brought a tear to my mom's eye. Ya gotta love it.
