Love Buckwheat Zydeco. Saw him live once, and it was great. Horn section, washboard dude and all. Excellent fun. The place was jumping from first note to last.
Buckwheat Zydeco is in a squeezebox dream of his own. Great performer to watch AUTHENTIC BLUES that won't let you go! Grabs you like no other music played in history of mankind! RIP
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it on Are You Experienced. Dozens have covered it, but Stanley's is better than anybody. My all time favorite.
If you have never seen this guy....break barriers and knock down walls and see him....it will be something you talk to your grandchildren about.....see this guy
I had the privilege to open shows for about 50 different artists over the past 25 years. Delbert McClinton 3 times, Tommy Castro 3 times, Anson Funderburg & Sam Myers 3 times, Sonny Landreth twice. The list goes on. Buckwheat was the very best show of them all. It just stood out above all the others and I can't get over it.
Well fuck me! I have been around a LOOONG time and thought I had heard everything. Never was a huge Zydeco fan, though it's fine in small doses. On the other hand, I love Jimi Hendrix. This is great! Never would have expected to hear this.
RIP S.B.Z.Durel true legend in true sense of the word . Showin' up @ this years NOHJF was his last goodbye to beloved Big Easy .Say hello to Tutts ,Snooky,Cliff,an' of 'em other fellas Bon voyage
This is THE BEST version EVER of Hey Joe, including Hendrix's classic original! The next best standout version, a very close second with a completely different flavor is Wilson Pickett's truly incredible R&B Soul version. Just RUclips it, you won't be sorry. Other honorable mentions include Black Cat Bone with Paul Deslauriers, Paul Gilbert, Lee Moses, Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan and ZZ Top.
@@donaldsmall9412 Obviously "Best" is subjective. But to each his own. But I still think Stanley Dural's Jr, aka Buckwheat's accordion version put's it over the top and is waaay better than Hendrix's version, hands down. That accordion just kills it and takes the song to whole another level. Just listen to it with headphones on, close your eyes, eliminate all distractions and listen to it again. You'll see I'm right.
@@realkoolbikes Opinions vary. I grew up with these songs and when someone covers them I don't hold back or pretend it's good. Maybe Buckwheat Zydeco can play but not this song. Again this sucks.
Oh, you thought I was talking about you??? ... You should never assume. But given your comment, I also grew up with these songs. And Buckwheat Zydeco has set a new standard and takes this song to a whole another level. Your uninformed, tasteless, baseless opinion also seems to be in the minority here, because 99% of the commenters here agree with me by stating what an amazing version of it, it is. Ever thought that perhaps, maybe it's not this song but it's YOU who sucks.
@rob1248996 Thanks for you reply but no, I don't. you have your opinion and I have mine. If you don't like it piss off and when you get there, piss off again.
I was fortunate, to have opportunity to sing this song on stage, with Buckwheat Zydeco at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in 2006

What a great updated version of a fabulous old classic.

I have loved this song since the first time I heard it on Are You Experienced. Dozens have covered it, but Stanley's is better than anybody. My all time favorite.
I'm not saying it is better than Jimmy's version. But I enjoy it more. My taste...

Guitar Shorty?
@@jimhoover4060 Yes, Guitar Shorty does have a really good version also.
Easy now. It's a great cover, but Jimi's, c'mon man.
Jimi did his cover of Hey Joe just like Bucks but when I listen to a cover of Hey Joe this is tops from start to finish.
