I feel like the formats of some of these shows need to be brought back as well. People's idea of what good Internet "content" looks like is different from what "live TV" or a "TV series" should look like. Thus, amateurs make different videos when trying to go viral on RUclips as opposed to trying to get ratings on public access.

Don't follow the worldly trends follow Jesus Christ today

      John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

@@AbrahamLure I'm a bit late to this reply, but I noticed it didn't seem like anyone answered your question yet? Figured I may as well answer.
"Public Access" is basically what it says on the tin. It's not TV that anyone can access, it's TV made BY the general public.
I'm sure every state/city had it's own groups involved in setting up Public Access, and it's way more involved than a RUclips comment can summarize at 4am, but the basic idea was that someone could request/rent out a timeslot, show up for filming, film a show, and have it air on TV.
That's why some of these feel so unique, because it's just regular people (often with no prior background in television broadcasting) just showing up on air to try something out that they think people would be interested in. Obviously some of them were more successful than others.
Up there in the thread Joey compares it to early RUclips and it's not far off of a comparison. Think of it like how people could "broadcast themselves" before RUclips and you're on the right track. Nowadays, anyone can just film themselves, or record their computer screen and upload content to RUclips, but before mass adoption of the internet, this is what people did to get their ideas out to wider audiences.
I'm sure someone in the comments will be able to add way more clarity than I can, but I wanted to give at least a basic answer.

    OH MY GOD
I went to high school with Emmitt, we had shop class together and we were all shocked that they let him around the power tools. Believe it or not he came a long way from where he was in high school, he was not connected to reality in any way. He walked the halls making space sounding noises and was right on the edge of special education, he was oblivious to all social customs. But he was a good hearted kid that never, ever wished bad on anyone. Wasn't capable of it.
A freshman in our class tried to mees with him and stole his 'sconce' while holding it and taunting him. I wrestled it out of his hands and handed it back to Emmitt and he just says, 'oh thanks big guy beep beep boop bop..' and just went on his merry way with a smile on his face as though nothing even happened. I still laugh about it.

I was expecting the Merrill Howard Kalin Show to be here. It was I believe a 3 part cooking show hosted by Kalin, a disabled man who would do his best to show his audience how to cook a complete meal, all while doing celebrity impressions and making his own commentary as he worked. Even if he didn't succeed either with his food or his comedy, Kalin was always upbeat and positive. He unfortunately passed away back in 2008 at 45, but his legacy lives on thanks to the internet. While he's something of a meme for his awkwardness and cooking skills (my boy seriously put down a head of lettuce where he was just had raw chicken sitting moments before) it's hard not to appreciate the effort and energy he put forth.
Also I'm glad that the "shooting yourself" in "The Church of Shooting Yourself" means shooting with a camera. What a great way to catch people's attention right off the bat.

You missed an interesting part of the Joy Junction story. In the chatrooms, he would refer to the children he preyed on as his "little piglets".
Also, IIRC, he was a pretty well liked guy around the community, and he would regularly have pizza parties for the church kids at his house. Photos were found of infants inside roasting pans. The parents of these children were 100% okay with this, as they thought it was a joke. Can't imagine being one of those parents.

This is fucking wild - this is the third person I've seen today who's been using my research. Yes, I am Emerson Nosreme. You can find me featured in Ramtro Studio's video about Goth Public Access.
fun fact: I certainly know that Media Factory (some people who took over VCAM) actually has archived another show Rael did called Post Mortem Espresso. It's not publicly archived sadly and due to the fact that Rael used a fuck ton of copyrighted material, I don't know if it'll be published. Death's head theatre is likely lost forever though, outside of the goth public access.
Then again as far as I'm aware I'm the only one looking for it. So, maybe someone has it? doubt it though.

I wish Denver (the person behind Sister Who) nothing but the best in life and hope they are doing well as it's been quite awhile since we've gotten any updates on their whereabouts or had any Sister Who content and last I heard, they was having some housing issues. Prayers going out to you, Sister! ❤️
Update 2/15/24: I very recently had a chance to speak with the person who runs Sister Who's social media pages (Brian aka Sister Flirt) and while Sister Who has luckily found stable housing, they unfortunately are currently suffering from an undiagnosed neurological condition that is making it all but impossible for them to continue any Sister Who content for the foreseeable future, sadly. ☹️

Oh my god, starting off strong with CB. Walker.
So, I used to listen to a podcast called Distorted View when I was an edgy teen and whilst I couldn't even imagine listening to that now, I will say that I learnt a lot about pre-internet 'lolcows' through the podcast. CB Walker was one of them and I love how he just assumed every call was a prank and wouldn't even give people the chance to even try and be sincere, because he would immediately berate them or hang up. It's also where I learnt about Cleo (who I'm sure is also on this list at some point).
It's where I also first learned about Chris-Chan and also the infamous ''Shut Up Little Man!' recordings.
I'm making the podcast sound good, but it was actually super sophomoric and I can't even mention the kind of stuff he would play because I don't want to anger the youtube comment overlords.
    EDIT:
George Wood is literally my God. The first man to do a video review on Earthbound and praising it.
You can't be more ahead of the curve than that. Take that, gamers.
LAST EDIT: I bet David Liebe Hart is on here somewhere.
    EDIT: CALLED IT
Also you forgot to mention that David Liebe Hart performed Hallelujah on the SHREK Remade RUclips video. His version is better than Jeff Buckleys
