This song was out when my 24yr old son got run over full force by a moterbike as he lay in a coma on the rd a car ran over him he was like a bit of raw meat when the ambulance came no hope teeth smashed nearly every bone smashed splean removed tyre marks on his chest i was taken blue lighted to hosp they had all ready taken him to a basment next to the morgue i could see them pounding on his chest to cut a long story he had a 4 hr op on his brain i was told no hope hes now 5o and still here with a lot of probs ive lost my daughter and other son since x

Bee gees in the latter part of their career, that after the boom of Saturday night fever, have almost always used the falsetto in their songs (which is wonderful for the fastest,rhytmic and insistent songs), but for the slower and cadenced ones they have neglected the extraordinary voice of Robin, one of the most intense and vibrant of the pop music. An unmistakable vibrated which created a magical,poignant and touching atmosphere (for example listen, first of all, "My world").
There are just too many songs where these guys harmonized so well together. We have truly lost one of if not the greatest song writing groups of all time, and You Tube is where i rekindle all those memories.
To whom the bells tolls is a great song. And Robin sings it so well I just love his voice in this song and in a lot more. I agree, Barry's vocals were not needed here. Actually, Robin's vocals make this song. Barry was showing signs of strain, even in 93. Only Robin could handle that big chorus. He had such a vocal range, and that vibrato. Check out 'Close Another Door', it's on Bee Gees 1st, Robin's soar into his operatic range at the end. 'Somewhere' when he was 16, sounds like a 35 yr old man. His voice had no peer!

But you're absolutely right that only such an incredible tenor like Robin was (the best ever!) can sing this chorus in that tune. No baritone (like Barry or anyone else for that matter) could ever do so.
