We all love a Maurice. Someone who is talented who doesn't demand the spotlight but who is incredibly talented. Humble, willing to step back for the benefit of the whole. He did it.
Maurice’s voice was the “dries clear glue” that married all 3 of their voices together. You can’t see it but once you start paying attention you realize it.
Maurice Gibb's vocals in the Bee Gees sound was very similar to George Harrison in the Beatles. The third voice that makes the other two blend together.
If you knew his history and things he's done, this song makes more sense. I like him out of the others, because I feel like I can relate to him more. I'm a middle child also. I feel like he's speaking through music
Maurice was easy to love with his humor, talent humility and beautiful smile. My heart broke when he died. What a great loss to the music world and hearts of everyone who loved him.
Maurice struggled for years with alcoholism. This song sounds like the first steps of recovery. Every time I hear it, that opinion grows stronger. And oh my, that voice.
I will listen to these men for the rest of my life! They are all so different in every way: looks, presence and voices. Their voices are all very different and absolutely necessary to make the beautiful music that we love- Robin can hit those prolonged high notes, Barry plays lead, and Maurice hits the lower notes and oh, so magically!
To be able to go back in time and warn Maurice and Robin of the birth defect (both had) so it wouldn't lead to Maurice's death. Robin had surgery to fix it years later, but it couldn't stop the cancer.
I put them up there with Dream Theater as being some of the best musicians. Only 5 groups outsold Bee Gees (two are Beetles and Paul McCartney which I can't stand)
I had no idea that Maurice had an incredible lead voice. He has always added great backup and harmony voice. I wonder if it has mostly been his choice to remain in the background?
Maurice and Lulu's version of "The First of May" is unequaled. My deepest thanks to them. I can't conceive of a more authentic, deeply felt, spontaneous expression of profound emotion.
Growing up I lives this group and thought Barry was so handsome but as he got older Maurice was really attractive and had a great smile. I heard an interview where he discussed his drinking problems and he was so humble and down to earth.
Andy, Maurice, Robin R.I.P Imagine all the songs we have missed. Their catalogue is huge, even though all died too young. Just imagine how much the world has lost. Music is really the only thing that transcends all the crap in this world.
Interestingly enough when I was a teenager I had a huge crush on Barry and Andy. However, since I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of watching everything Bee Gees recently I have switched my attention to Maurice! He’s so talented, has seemed to always be the peacemaker, and is truly funny and engaging. What an amazing man! Watching him talking about his struggles with alcohol and recovery is amazing and shows how strong and committed he is to being healthy and a good husband and father over anything else. I think he doesn’t mind being in his own space on stage while the others stand in the spotlight. I love him!
I think in some ways, that is what Maurice did on purpose. He left the other two to be the more popular ones, while in the background, he was stealing the show. Maybe he was shy and didn't like the limelight to be on him, I don't know. Maybe that is why he turned to alcohol and drugs, to hide his own insecurities. Whatever it was, he was the unseen cog that made the BeeGees wheel roll so smoothly.
I love Maurice...he is gorgeous and what a wonderful voice! He is awesome and so talented! Beautiful family and my type of guy! His son and daughter are beautiful! He and Robin and Andy are so missed!
@@janicesnyder9305 Wasn't it just alcohol regarding Maurice? Not that wasn't an issue, but I think it was Andy that was the most insecure one who turned to drugs to cope if memory serves.
Maurice had a lovely voice mostly Barry and robin did lead on most their songs it makes a change for Maurice to do lead all three brothers had brilliant voices couldn't imagine bee gees without any of the brothers they were very clever songwriters
All the brothers had beautiful voices in there own right, BUT when they sang together Wow Nobody could beat there Harmony. Needless to say I've loved the BeeGees from the start ❤
Maurice Gibb voice is just amazing, he was so talented with his singing and instrument playing. I can't believe he died just two years after this consort. R.I.P. Maurice
Idk why they didn’t let Maurice sing more .. I never even realized how little he did sing until watching RUclips videos some songs he literally doesn’t sing the whole time … like ,”what the heck ?” his voice was good just different..
Dear Maurice, you were like the good wine : you became better and charmer by the years ! You also showed more character , self-confidence and personal type perhaps due to the external changes of your looks and your smile became brighter, your voice deeper , which added much to your image ! I was raised with your music and I’ll never stop listening to you and your brothers as long as I live ! Be well wherever you are all of you, on earth or in heaven !!!❤
I wish he had sang more lead. This is the first time I actually got to hear his voice. Such a shame to have had it hidden as a backup. Yes, Barry has an amazing voice, can't get enough, but Maurice had a wonderful deeper, sexy voice.
It's great pleasure to hear Maurice Gibb's voice for a change from the the bee gees. His voice is less squeaky than Barry's. Overall all the brothers are good singers (like it or not Barry's voice is unique compared to all other musicians' voices)
All three are perfect in their own ways totally different voices barry is one of a kind maurices song is one of my favorite and whats most interesting is that my no 1 in bee gees was Robins voice 😎
Maurice spoke in a conversation with Lynn Redgrave about his alcohol addiction and his going to rehab and living the sober life since (vid on YT). Once you know about it, and that he was drunk on stage most nights until he sobered up, you can see the difference in him in performances after 1993. He's more animated and into his music. Listen to the words to this. He wrote it shortly after he got sober.
Maurice was all ways my favorite one. I just loved his humor and his boyish smile. To me he was the best looking one of the three. As soon as I saw a picture of him way back in my youth I fell in love with. I cried when he die. I couldn’t believe he was gone way too soon. What a shock that was. Rest In Peace Maurice 🙏❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️🙏🙏
By the time they returned to to England as late teens, young adults, they had over 10 years experience performing, sometimes nightly, as little kids and teens. Confident. Gifted. Driven. Relentless. Talent from a place nobody can explain. Easy to pick up and run with, as Stigwood the Impresario did. They are history.
We all love a Maurice. Someone who is talented who doesn't demand the spotlight but who is incredibly talented. Humble, willing to step back for the benefit of the whole. He did it.
Still listening 2024.💕
Maurice’s voice was the “dries clear glue” that married all 3 of their voices together. You can’t see it but once you start paying attention you realize it.
LOl. He made a fortune with an average voice. Born lucky into the right family.
It's a beautiful comment You just made, and so true.
@@Gary21259 Not at all, most compositions were made by Maurice, he was the ´´brain´´ of the Bee Gees.
I love his voice.
I love his voice.
Mo's voice is deeper than Robin's and Barry's and is the perfect bridge between his brothers voices. His voice ties them together. 🎀
Maurice Gibb's vocals in the Bee Gees sound was very similar to George Harrison in the Beatles. The third voice that makes the other two blend together.
Plus he did all of the arrangements! Mo was the best!
Wonderful...the guitar sound was superb... how sad we have lost him..... love them all god bless 😢😂😢
You hit the nail on the head. Great analogy!
Agree 100%
I love Maurice's style. Love his humor and he had the widest, most friendly smile I've ever seen. This is a great song.
If you knew his history and things he's done, this song makes more sense. I like him out of the others, because I feel like I can relate to him more. I'm a middle child also. I feel like he's speaking through music
me too his style got me
Yes he did ❤️
His smile was infectious and he played the most instruments of any of the brothers as well as vocals...what a talent!!
Sound good 👍👍👍
Maurice was easy to love with his humor, talent humility and beautiful smile. My heart broke when he died. What a great loss to the music world and hearts of everyone who loved him.
Still listening to him... cannot believe he is no longer.... bless❤🎉
Maurice was the one that kept it all aligned up between his brothers for when they sung their parts.
This should have been a huge hit.
Absolutely!!!!
Agreed. They're the best.
Billy..I AGREE
It actually did go number one but I agree.
Great song
Maurice struggled for years with alcoholism. This song sounds like the first steps of recovery. Every time I hear it, that opinion grows stronger. And oh my, that voice.

It's been 19 years since Maurice is gone, I still love his voice.
I miss him too so sad died far too young in 2003
His voice was marvelous
too young indeed.
MO is immortal ❤ just like the others
To be able to go back in time and warn Maurice and Robin of the birth defect (both had) so it wouldn't lead to Maurice's death. Robin had surgery to fix it years later, but it couldn't stop the cancer.
I love Maurice 's voice. He had a beautiful smile. Greatly missed.
Awful too white teeth though
Maurice gave the group the fullness with his voice.
Maurice had a great voice and should have sung lead more often.
What a great song. They just couldn't write a bad song.
AGREED
I completely agree with you !
I put them up there with Dream Theater as being some of the best musicians. Only 5 groups outsold Bee Gees (two are Beetles and Paul McCartney which I can't stand)
@@GabrielGarcia-300 😂😂😂 I can't stand them either.
Maurice should have had.the chance to sing more times. He had a wonderful.voice.
The most underrated BG
100% his sound came a bit later because I think they started writing great music again. Bless. So sad they're gone. But always got the music x

Tinha uma vóz linda, ele sempre tão sereno!!❤ Que ele esteja em um lugar melhor que esse...
He had broad shoulders, bright eyes and a smile to die for
I've always crushed on Barry, but Mo's sexy smile and mischievous eyes are definitely swoon material!! ❤
@@bonnieplasha4684 aged well too, didn't he? Shame he left too soon
Yess❤️🔥🫠🥰
Maurice found the perfect harmony to blend over & through the other voices providing the sweet sounds of the Bee Gees.
I love Maurices style, shame he didn't do more. So sad to lose him. Love his sense of humour.
Maurice had the best voice, and he did all of the arrangements!! He was my favorite Bee Gee!
Most under appreciated Gibb. I mean, just listen to his unique style and sound.
I knew he could sing, BUT DAMN!!!!! Great song Mo
20 years since Mo left us. Still makes me sad. Wondering what could have been 💔 grateful for what was. 🎹🎶
The brother that blended the 3 into the best harmonies ever
Maurice was my favorite but then each was an awesome man...
Maurice and Lulu's version of "The First of May" is unequaled. My deepest thanks to them. I can't conceive of a more authentic, deeply felt, spontaneous expression of profound emotion.
Hadn’t heard that! Thank you! It’s beautiful
Finally Maurice got to have lead vocals

I loved Maurice and Robin. Brilliant song and Maurice never given enough credit at what he brought to the group. Sadly missed always remembered

I think you can hear Maurice’s voice the best in ‘Closer than Close’. Those 3 voices together, beyond amazing!
His voice was very deep and rich in its tone and very enjoyable to listen to indeed.
Love his voice and this song. The Bee Gee’s harmony just wasn’t the same without his voice.❤️
This is nice now I can spot his voice in the trio better. Robins vibrato stood out, Maurice blends . Great song
Yeah I believe Maurice is more of the baritone voice in the trio Robin's voice is the high and Barry is the falsetto
@@chrisburrelljr9270 Barry used full voice and falsetto on many songs. Not just falsetto...
Underrated by far

I think Barry said it best, “I wish my brothers were here with me.” I can’t imagine going to three funerals for my brothers.

WHAT A LEGACY THEY HAVE GAVE US..
RIP beautiful Maurice. Great guy love you inside and out.
That was a clever Bee Gees pun. Whether intentional or not, totally got me haha. But of course RIP to Maurice and Robin definitely legends no doubt
You don't get to hear Maurice sing lead very often, but you can see that the Bee Fees wouldn't be the group they are without him.
Maurice Gibb voice is just amazing, he was so talented with his singing and instrument playing. I can't believe he died just two years after this consort. R.I.P. Maurice
