    That is Bucky Pizzarrelli‘s son, John….Bucky and George Van EPS were 7 String pioneers and John was his dad‘s duo partner. An amazing guitar player and inspiration for every 7 String Player(as I also)

    Can you imagine the thousands of hours of ear training to be able to sign along with your instrument like that?

    • @skierpage
      @skierpage Год назад

      Expressing a melodic line with your voice and guitar at the same time doesn't seem like ear training. Are there many musicians who can't sing their solos?

    • @JazzGuitarNoob
      @JazzGuitarNoob Год назад +3

      @@skierpage It is ear training. It shouldn't take thousands of hours, but many guitar players never try to sing along with themselves.

    John Pizzarelli is one of my absolute favorite jazz musicians. Wish he got more popularity. He's got a cool voice for crooning, incredible skills, and has a charming and entertaining personality.

    I came I saw and then I came again. It's so incredibly hard to sing and play the guitar at the same time for most people with even the most simplest of chord progressions. This guy is definitely next level.

    That "beard stroke" at 3:12 blew my mind, how could he have such space and presence to interrupt his playing like that without messing it up... then I realized that he was using his mouth to retrieve his pick from between his fingers. I've slowed it waaaay down and still can't tell exactly what he did, but he was finger picking until "the stroke" and playing with a plectum immediately thereafter!
    BTW, this is John Pizzarelli III, son of John "Bucky" Pizzarelli Jr, who id NOT want to be called "Junior!"

      My friend bursts out laughing whenever most people scat sing, stereotypically any white female jazz singer. It is faintly comical baby talk.
      I don't mind it, but George Benson is one of the few instrumentalists whose scatting adds to his solos. This performance does too. Many musicians sing along with their solos but don't mic their voice; it can be fun to hear them murmuring in the background.
      I remember Peter Frampton wowing people when he played guitar through a talkbox, and Herbie Hancock turning singing into an instrument with a vocoder on "I Thought It Was You"; two ways to transcend the "baby talk" problem.
