Original video: • John Pizzarelli - I Go...
Levi, thank you for broadening my musical horizons with artists I have never heard before and tabs to see the mechanics under the hood.
That is Bucky Pizzarrelli‘s son, John….Bucky and George Van EPS were 7 String pioneers and John was his dad‘s duo partner. An amazing guitar player and inspiration for every 7 String Player(as I also)
Can you imagine the thousands of hours of ear training to be able to sign along with your instrument like that?
Expressing a melodic line with your voice and guitar at the same time doesn't seem like ear training. Are there many musicians who can't sing their solos?
@@skierpage It is ear training. It shouldn't take thousands of hours, but many guitar players never try to sing along with themselves.
It’s approachable but you gotta start from where you are and work consistently to get to this this kinda level.
John Pizzarelli is one of my absolute favorite jazz musicians. Wish he got more popularity. He's got a cool voice for crooning, incredible skills, and has a charming and entertaining personality.
Mindblowing musicianship and transcribing skills 👏👏
These daily transcriptions are fantastic. Simultaneously inspiring, entertaining, and supremely humbling!
That was awesome! Great job Levi!
Very cool stuff!- thanks!
Wow, what a killer performance!
I came I saw and then I came again. It's so incredibly hard to sing and play the guitar at the same time for most people with even the most simplest of chord progressions. This guy is definitely next level.
The scat singing is insane, bravo!
That was fantastic!
Devin Townsend on your shirt. I worked with a woman who's his cousin, but I didn't realize for years. LOL
Oh darn! Didn't realize from the pic that it's JP. Does a weekly jazz show on the radio here in Toronto. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE INSANE SKILL OF THIS CAT!!! He's so humble, like pie! It's sickening! LOL
New one to me, good stuff.
A-ma-zing, john's works and your clay!
Fantastic video I sadly admit I have never heard of him I really enjoyed this
That "beard stroke" at 3:12 blew my mind, how could he have such space and presence to interrupt his playing like that without messing it up... then I realized that he was using his mouth to retrieve his pick from between his fingers. I've slowed it waaaay down and still can't tell exactly what he did, but he was finger picking until "the stroke" and playing with a plectum immediately thereafter!
BTW, this is John Pizzarelli III, son of John "Bucky" Pizzarelli Jr, who id NOT want to be called "Junior!"
Interesting how he uses a small amount of grips for his Chord Melody solo…proving, much like Wes, they it ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it!
Great, and totally for real
Awesome! Jazz certainly runs in their family
excellent mid section single note blasting
Pizz is "amazing", thanks Levi!!!!!
Looks like he's using a Savarez P1 set. All wound. Very nice.
Thank you for your great work! Now, please show Kazuhito Yamashita's Pictures at an exhibition to your viewers. I have the entire score. The last 2 minutes of the 1st movement would be great to show!
Where was the pic before he started using it?
Wow.absolutely amazing.scat on a 7 string classical guitar
i miss the guitar solo, someone was talking
See, I can do that vocalised solo just like him.. difference being, I can't actually play it too 😄
His Dad was no slouch either.....
Imagine if someone gave him a hi hat setup to play as well….🤔
I wish I had half his talent! Also half his last name 🍕 🤤
Pasquale next? 😅
I’ve done some pascal for clients in the past, but he doesn’t do anything for me
Where did he hide his pick??
It's sitting on his lap lol
...at 3:12 he goes to his mouth, at 3:55 he places it on his leg
@@alsilva3578 how does he sing with a pick in his mouth? Was it taped to his beard? 🧔♂️
Sounds like comedy the scat.. jaja excuse me guys.
Even Tommy Emmanuel would be impressed.
...the seven string originated in Russia. you'll see it a lot in Brazil.
Mind bottling
I quit
This guys skat solo are embarrassing
why?
My friend bursts out laughing whenever most people scat sing, stereotypically any white female jazz singer. It is faintly comical baby talk.
I don't mind it, but George Benson is one of the few instrumentalists whose scatting adds to his solos. This performance does too. Many musicians sing along with their solos but don't mic their voice; it can be fun to hear them murmuring in the background.
I remember Peter Frampton wowing people when he played guitar through a talkbox, and Herbie Hancock turning singing into an instrument with a vocoder on "I Thought It Was You"; two ways to transcend the "baby talk" problem.
