Nice video, well done. Its exciting being new to the hobby - lots to explore. To be fair, no matter how long you've been in the hobby there will always be lots to explore.
Can't believe I haven't commented on this yet! Such a great list of games! I haven't played Planet Unknown, Undaunted, or Rawr and Write (but I own/love the original). PU and Undaunted are both ones I've been wanting to try. All the others (besides Terra Mystic) are all also in my top 10. Some others that have been on my list in the past are Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Arkham Horror LCG, Root, Viticulture, Dead Reckoning, Marvel Champions, Modern Art, and Project ELITE.
Meant to reply to you sooner! I highly recommend Planet Unknown if you’re interested. Such a chill game that plays pretty quickly and has a ton of variability. How do you like Root? That’s one of my most anticipated games I have in my collection but still haven’t played
Just discovered your video, and I enjoyed it! Your voice is relaxing to listen to lol. A lot of the games you've listed I have yet to try, but i have heard great things about them! I have a bunch of older ish games that I like, including 7 wonders, castles of burgundy, everdell, wingspan, spirit island. I actually have ark nova. Have yet to try it but I'm excited to dig into its complexity. :)
Thanks Crusader! I appreciate that. Oh man, I’ve only played Castles one time but it’s already in my top 20! I think with more plays it will go up. What’s your #1 And I’ve been playing Ark Nova on BGA more. It’s so good!
@@TotallyBoard I haven't taken the time to put my favorite games on a tier list but my favorite would either have to be everdell or Wingspan. There are so many more great games to try, and I'm sure a new number one would take their place!
Great list. Thanks for sharing. I have a few of the same games in my Top Ten and I don't own a few in your list. I like Dune: Imperium a lot, but like Arnak a tad bit more. Planet Unknown is one of my favs, as well as one of the most unique games I own. I have A Feast of Odin on order, based on the huge number of high ranking it has. Have Great Western Trail, but haven't got to it... yet. Lost Ruins of Arnak, Marvel Champions: LCG, Castles of Burgundy, and Mosaic are a few in my Top Ten.
That’s awesome! We definitely have a lot of overlap. I really need to try Arnak again - my first playthrough fell a little flat but I think it’s because I was on BGA. Marvel Champions barely missed my top 10! I think I had it at 13. I love it though. I think you’ll love A Feast for Odin
I haven’t played any of these, though I have played base Pandemic. I do enjoy older games that are more player driven as opposed to complicated. My favourites are Knizia designs like Medici, Ra, and Modern Art. Thanks for the video!
Pandemic is so good! If you’re able to get a group of 4 together, Pandemic Legacy is amazing. I haven’t played any of those Knizia games, but I really love his stuff that I have played. Ra is one of game I’ve been itching to try!
So happy to see that someone brings TM among the best games of all time. I have the feeling that its immense replayability is kind of a drawback in a sense that most of the people prefer to play a variety of games, while TM makes you get deep on that.
I get what you mean. The strategic depth is wild; you almost have to study it like you would chess. But I really really enjoy it. Very excited to receive my copy of Age of Innovation!
Hey there, Jordan! Great top ten list! 🏆 Loved seeing Great Western Trail and A Feast for Odin on there! Have you played Maracaibo by any chance? It's Pfister's follow-up to GWT and it is "absolutely incredible", as you might say! 😉
Hey Dave! Thanks for checking it out, I was laughing after editing seeing how much I said that. I haven’t played Maracaibo but I saw how highly you talked about it, plus I love Alexander Pfister so this is a MUST BUY. I also checked out Shifting Stones and it looks super fun. Have you ever heard of Framework by Uwe Rosenberg?
Fun video! What's your game count? I'm curious as to how many different games your top 10 came from after a year of board gaming? Is that best 10 out of 100 or best 10 out of 25? I think it'll be fun to see other games sneak in and vie for your favor over the next year!

I didn’t touch on this in the video, but I love Gaia Project! I actually think it’s the better overall game especially with the tech tracks. But I’m much more into the fantasy theme than space so I prefer TM a bit. But they’re essentially BOTH my number 4 😂
Absolutely incredible job with the video. 😂 And fun to see Planet Unknown make it in there! Also, Rawr & Write almost sounds like a mini roll/write version of Ark Nova. I've played Ark Nova twice and that game is absolutely incredible (😉) but I think it shouldn't be compared to Terraforming Mars. They are too different. They are kind of opposites if you think about it. In TM you are competing to complete the exact same puzzle and the same exact goals, rather than only competing for common resources for your own individual puzzle-building adventure (like Wingspan, Azul, Isle of Cats, Planet Unknown, and even Feast of Odin to some extent). Alternatively, your puzzle-building in TM is the opposite: your resources. I also like how you can switch from a passive to aggressive strategy to disrupt your opponents puzzles, trying to keep that in balance. I like games that facilitate interactivity and make competition a bit more intense. Both solid games for sure, but I don't think they're interchangeable.
@@dhanigar I agree about the comparison of Ark Nova vs. TM - I'm just playing into the meme ;) I genuinely love both of them, but TM didn't quite make my Top 10.
