I didn't appreciate Rush till I was 40 years old. Now I wish I saw them live.

Better late than never. I didn't get into Judas Priest until I was in my 50s.

This was filmed at Le Studio, a recording studio in the Laurentian Mountains near the town of Morin-Heights, Quebec, Canada built in 1972. It became known as Rush's Abbey Road due to the fact that they recorded multiple albums there. Other notable acts to record there were The Police (and later Sting solo), The Bee Gees, Chicago, David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Nazareth, Bryan Adams, and Asia. At the time its recording equipment was cutting edge, the SSL4000 B. I believe there were only 4 studios world wide that used the same equipment, Abbey Road Studios in London, Le Studio, Virgin Records' Townhouse Studios in London, and Tocano Studio in Copenhagen.

You are correct on both counts, Rush's music is so complex and layered it takes a level of maturity to appreciate it. Also there lyrics are so deep and filled with meaning that the more mature you are the more you appreciate what they are saying. Secondly, you are correct they are nerds self professed nerds. Gene Simmons of KISS, in an interview has talked about when RUSH was there opening act on a tour back in the 70's, after the show instead of partying they would go back to their rooms and read. Another song of theirs you should check out is Subdivisions. It speaks to their nerdom. 🙂 I am not putting them down i love RUSH, I have loved them since the first time i saw them in concert on the SIgnals tour in 1982 when i was 16 years old. My love an appreciation for them as a band has only grown over the years. Three great musicians, three great friends, and most importanly, three of the best people to ever life. As a Shy Kid growing up who played the drums (badly), Neil was my hero, hard to believe he has been gone for over 4 years now. LIke all RUSH fans I felt a shadow across my heart when i heard he had passed.

This song is about Neil's uncomfortably with becoming famous. He was a shy and private person and all the fandom was embarrassing for him.
This like Tom Sawyer is filmed at Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec, Canada
If you react to April Wine I like to rock you will see what it looks like in the summer.
There were many famous bands that recorded there.
Unfortunately, it is no longer there.

I was about 13 when RUSH was new, the music from then was pretty hard simple rock, They progressed as they grew older and also said that they couldn't believe some of the 'crap' as Geddy Lee called it from some of the early albums. But we still loved them and stayed with them through the decades

The word "limelight" has nothing to do with the fruit; it actually refers to the mineral lime, which would be ignited to provide stage lighting in Victorian times before the widespread use of electric lights, from which it came to mean "the centre of attention." In addition to Neil's aforementioned introverted nature, his difficulties in coping with life in the spotlight were also partly related to anxiety issues stemming from a near-drowning incident at the age of 10, causing a constant, overwhelming urge to escape; he would often ride his motorcycle from one tour stop to the next, where he could travel in relative anonymity, and he would often high-tail it off the stage at the end of a show, headed for the quiet solitude of his dressing room. Another song that IMO perfectly captures what Neil went through is "Subdivisions," which was based on his experiences in high school, which I think were beautifully captured in the official music video. Rest in peace Professor.

Recorded at LeStudio in Morin-Heights, QC. Getty Lee -Lead Vocals, Bass Guitar, Electric Piano; Alex Lifeson -Lead Guitar (voted by many of his peers as one of the greatest guitar players of all time); and lastly the Great Neil Peart on Drums, considered to be one of the greatest drummers of all time R.I.P.

Yes,as other people have pointed out, that was Le Studio, a very famous world class studio back in the day. It is about an hours drive north of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada ( I put Canada even though the French government of Quebec considers it a country, and are constantly making laws to wipe out the English language, and preserve the French language and culture. ) and, NO, Rush are not nerds, why do you say that? because they have talent, discipline, and integrity, and are more interested in writing good music than playing the rock star image, they're FKN cool !!!

Dont wanna tell yaall how to do you but with a song like this, you miss out not focusing on the message; Neil Peart (drummer) was a fantastic lyricist. With some bands youre not missing much but Rush usually has something to say worth listening to, imo and with all due respect 🙂

great reaction but u guys drifted during the solo and suddenly nerds are r the subject lol. you didn't replay it, u miss whats really the highlight of the song, play it again for yourself, its really fantastic. with rush they try to put emotion in the solos, not just write a technical composition only, so that is great quality in writing to pay attention to well wishes good comments
