Pretty sure that was an April Fools joke from several years ago..... As far as I'm aware, H-D is its own parent company which is publicly traded (NYSE: HOG)
Yeah they’re definitely their own company. The last time they were owned by someone else was AMC in the 70’s. Since then they’ve always been their own company and we’re never owned by Kawasaki or any other brand.
Congratulations on buying your Road King! I was disappointed to see the model disappear in 2023. I guess they thought most people wanted music and navigation. For me, the sound of the bike itself is just right.
I am very happy with the Road King and although I do like the Road & Street Glides, when I get back on the Road King I truly appreciate it and rethink how much I love the Road king. Hope they bring it back as I was disappointed to hear it was canceled also.
Thanks for your kind words! Congratulations! The Road King is a good around town with no fairing to blocking the beautiful views. Plus a touring frame that just makes it so comfortable for those long rides! Stay safe out there!
Fair enough! I have been thinking to just not mount my phone on my handlebars and just listen to directions via bluetooth... just need a good headset for the helmet.
Very nice! Congrats! The milage is low and may only have the first service on it. I have just scheduled my 2nd service which are due every 5k. Have fun and stay safe!
I have owned six Harley’s and currently ride an Electra Glide and have full use of my bro-in-laws 2017 Road Glide, but my favorite Harley is the Road King. Mostly for the simplicity and long-distance riding pleasure. I wish I still had the 98 Road King with EVO. Such a fun bike to ride.
I just bought a 2021 Road King in Dec 2021 just picked it up the other day and I love it and if you're looking for good LED lights go with custom Dynamics
Congratulations on the Road King! I have a video on a headlight conversion to LEDs, however, will be looking into custom dynamics to complete the LED conversion. Thanks for the tip! Stay safe out there!
I have two of these and they're the best Harley i've ever ridden for handling/leaning/comfort, the USB thing is an easy fix, LED lighting ? Well standard bulbs don't bother me, maybe because i'm older and remember what the old lights were like ! So in comparison the lights are good enough plus i think candescent bulbs look better on a 50's styled machine.
I like all kinds of bikes. I too had a Vulcan 900 as a reentry and then moved up to a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe. It has everything Harley Road King does except the cost. Don't get me wrong, one day I'll have a Road King just because I want one. Good job on the review.
The Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe is a very nice Motorcycle! I went new because I am not much of a mechanic (then why by HD... LOL) but I am sure the Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe is very reliable. Thanks for the compliment on the review... I had no idea it would be that popular - my top video in views. Take care!
I was debating between the 22 road king or 22 electra glide standard after having a street bob previously. I ultimately went with the Electra Glide standard 107 because my father had Electra Glides for years and I was a bit biased. With that being said the road king is also a beautiful bike. Especially the 22 model 2 tone grey and black. Great video and enjoy the riding!
The Electra Glide is a beautiful and love all the storage it offers. I selected the Road King as I like the "stripped" down classic look, however, I can add/remove a tour pack and windscreen. Enjoy your Electra Glide and stay safe out there!
I love my Road King! Have it since December 2020 and together with my wife we have already ridden more than 12.000 km. A few things I have changed: Handlebar same hight and width but different angles. Now I can set the position of the handlebar mostly in line with the fork, and the grip ends have still a comfortable angle to ride hours for hours withou tany pain in my handwrists. Also the grips I have changed, the new grips are in the middle a bit thicker than at the ends, and with these new grips I feel much better connected to the bike than before. And I have a windshield from freedom windshields, a bit shorter then the original but same effect. And the stage 2 upgrade :-) . In summer we will have a trip to denmark with our Road King. Greatest motobike ever built to me.
So far, I LOVE the Road King! I may be looking for upgrades like yours, would be great if you post pictures on the Cage Free Moto Facebook page so I and others can check it out. Is the freedom windshield the same size as the stock one? Thanks for sharing!
Nice bike! Haven’t ridden one of the M8’s, but the Road King is generally very stable on the highway while still fun on twisty roads. Personal preference wise, I kinda like the blk/chrome contrast, and chrome switch housings and brake cylinder lids would look good with the black switches and control housings. To me the steering lock is kind of a distraction from the lines of the nacelle, and a chrome cover reduces that. Adding a USB spot discretely would be easy to do, along with a quickly detachable bar mount for your phone. That way you’d have it when trying to navigate in a strange town.
I have not ridden anything but an M8 as this is my first Harley Davidson and very happy with the Road King. Totally agree that it is stable and the contrast of black and chrome. Sometimes I get blinded by the chrome when looking down at the speedometer to verify what gear I am in. Definitely will be looking into installing a USB port :) Take care and stay safe!
I owned a Road King for 10 years. It was the most reliable bike I have ever owned. Initially I found the weight and size intimidating, but quickly I became addicted to it's easy handling especially at low speed. It is a great all around bike. I have moved into the adventure bike sector because I want to explore the world off pavement, although I wish I had never sold my Road King.
I thought it was heavy and had it delivered to my house when I bought it. I also want to get into adventure riding but need to find a way to do it while holding onto the Road King :) Stay safe!
@@CageFreeMoto After the Road King I bought an Africa Twin. It’s a brilliant bike but to top heavy for me off road. After 14,000 km, I sold it and bought an Royal Enfield Himalayan. The Himalayan is a great bike for gravel and bad roads but I’m 68 years old and it can be a little much on serious off road. I am recovering now with two broken ribs after a tumble.
I have ridden a Road King for several years and love my bike. You can purchase a small USB Charger that connects to the battery tender cable. I bought mine at Cycle Gear and it works fine.
I have heard this many times and I think I should try it out... I wonder how it feels on the rougher bumps, meaning does the backrest hit the center of your back? Now with highway pegs I should try it :). Thanks! Stay safe!
Great review. I’ve owned many Harleys I’ve the past 42 years including my current 2016 FLSTC and 2010 FLHTK and I’ve loved them all but my 2001 RK Classic was my absolute favorite. The styling and ride comfort were fantastic and I plan on purchasing another Road King in the future.
Thanks! This is my first HD and have had similar comments from you all with more experience with many motorcycles which makes me feel that I chose wisely with the Road King. Take care and stay safe!
I was sorry to see the Road King standard disappear. Here in 2024 the only model available is the Road King Special, blacked out, no windshield, extended bags and a price tag of $25,000. Or more. I chose to find and buy a 2023 Road King Police with 11 miles. I added a chopped removable tour pack, touring seat and Rockford Fosgate speakers with amp already installed on bike before I bought it. I just had my 1000 mi inspection and I’m lovin’ this bike ,it is my third Road King I like the overall feel and the open view you get on this bike. Not a fan of bikes with fairings and lowers, if I want to be enclosed behind parts I might as well drive a convertible and then I can put the top up and not get wet. The true riders Classic the Road King.
Love it! I wish I had picked up a police model when I was shopping, but I’m still really happy with my 2021 Road King. I don’t ever want to part with it. If I get a Harley with a fairing one day, my goal is to keep my Road King standard.
Yes they do! How do I know? I have an LED video for the head-lights and passing lamps and just purchased for the front and rear signals including the rear red break light. I will create a video with all the LED lights and links. They just have not all arrived yet... stay tuned :) Stay safe and keep your eyes down the road ;)
Georguse looking bike, ya I'd say it's tough to keep a black bike clean all the time, I agree with you on the lights and USB issue. Does it come with cornering abs? I'm between the road king and the fatboy for my next bike. I noticed that the RK only comes in a 107 (unless you get the special) is that an issue for you? I'd say it's a really comfortable ride
Thanks for the kind words. I have been searching your c-abs and nothing says it does or does not. So, I will continue to research this. The RDRS is optional on this model. Have no complaints on the 107 and like you prior to purchasing the RK I also had the same concern. I have learned the the 114 has about 10% more power which then reduced my concern. The Fatboy is an awesome looking bike! One I was also looking at, but, for needs it would not work as I wanted bags. You can put them on the Fatboy, however, my opinion, it looks so good the way it is I did not want to take away from the look. The RK has a good look with the bags. So up to the individual on what they want to use the bike for and if they are good with modifying it with bags. Take care & Stay Safe!
Thanks for the compliment and hope you watch more and comment and feedback. I normally work from home, however, occasionally ride into the office which is 60 miles one way. We needed to come into the office for 2 weeks to focus on a project and I rode the Road King every day. Here is California we are allowed to split lanes and that makes the commute "easier" (just need to be hyper aware). But the Road King is great as a daily commute. Also, I ride to the office once a week and have been taking the Road King. Is it all year round? Depends on what conditions you are willing to ride in. Here in California I would say, yes for the most part. But if there is a rainy forecast I just may pass. Hope this helps, take care and stay safe!
Good review, Cage. I just upgraded from a Heritage to the 2021 RK about a month ago- i only have about 700 miles on her, but I think this is “true love” ❤️. I’m enjoying your videos a lot and I really identify with your humble and “always learning” mentality. Now that the weather has turned to crap here in Seattle, I will be living vicariously through you for most of the next several months, haha. Keep up the great content my friend, and stay safe out there!
Congrats on the RK! Really appreciate your kind words and support, comments like this makes it worth creating the content. Thank you so much! Enjoy your new RK and stay safe my friend!
I am happy with the windshield. I can look over it also and can understand how looking through it could get annoying especially with glares or rain. That said, my videos may show a view through the windshield, however, my camera is mounted at my chin level.
You would not believe it mate, but my last bike was a the Vulcan Custom VN900 and I upgraded to the Road King Special 2020. We on the same parallel path my friend
Great review buddy. I am taking delivery on my Brand New 2021 Road King tomorrow morning. Umm, Identical to yours. Even the Vivid Black. I rode a 1984 Kawasaki ZN 1300 Voyager years ago. And unlike the Harley, it "LITERALLY" is a Cadillac on two wheels. One of the sweetest bikes every made. I also had a Kawasaki GPZ750 with Turbo. Umm, un-godly fast. Now days I am older and just enjoy riding. I bought my first Harley a year ago July. I have loved my Road King. Maybe that is why I decided to buy another brand new one. I am so excited....6 whole miles when I bought it Sunday. Thank you for your input and your video. Keep the rubber side down and the wind in your face brother.
Congrats on the NEW Road King! Would love to see a pic on it, post it on the Cage Free Moto FB. We are very similar in our thoughts and like you just enjoy riding. Stay safe out there!
USB connection is very easy to add. I have a 2010 Road King. Also LED headlight/passing lamp kits are available and easy to convert. About $105 on Amazon.
I have swapped out for LED headlights already, video on it. It was simple and inexpensive. USB is next, I may also just do this myself as it seems simple enough. Take care!
Does the speedometer fog up my 2011 does most rides, except in heavy winds, also I will change the chrome hradlight cover from chrome to black , maybe blinkers as well , even the chrome strip down the tank in the sun can cause glare, I also own a vulcan 900, and the RK is heavy
I have not had the speedometer fog up as of yet but will post if it does. I have had some glare from the chrome strip... maybe a good idea to change it... hmmm. Yep, the RK is much heavier and the 900 feels lighter and easier to maneuver in the twisty roads.
Nice review. I'm of the same opinion - I love the look of the front headlights. I also agree with the comments about not having a stereo system. It would ruin the look of the bike, and in my opinion, it is cheap and easy to install headphones to listen to music from a smartphone (if that's what you want to do).
Engine and exhaust is all stock and loving it... I added a few things like the 4 point docking station, back-rest and luggage rack and things like that. But that 107 is great!
Enjoy your videos Im a re-entry rider myself and bought my 2022 RK this year. My previous bike being a light sport bike just for cruising around (12 years ago) I was not sure jumping to a RK was wise. After a lot of discussion with other riders I decided I wasnt going to go through the progression of multiple bikes to get to the RK. I bought my RK and spent a lot of time becoming familiar with it in parking lots and back roads. Other content creators on RUclips who offer tons of free advise and drills also provided a wealth of knowledge. Im very happy with the bike and my decision the RK is an incredible bike and just what I was looking for as an older rider just interested in cruising. I love the classic look and rarely use the windshield. I added a few tasteful upgrades from HD but Im not going too crazy its just a beautiful bike to me. I did switch to Harleys solo seat with the toast stitching and it looks great and is more comfortable. The stock seat was funny looking to me and I hated the buttons on it. Even on days I dont ride I love seeing my bike sitting there knowing I have the perfect motorcycle for me and not being envious of all the riders trapped in my truck. The RK get plenty of attention from everyone its just a classic and I dont see myself ever buying a full fairing bike like I thought I would years ago. My bars do need some adjustment or possible a change I feel like Im just to hunched over on longer rides and would like to be sitting up straight or leaned back a little. Im 6ft so thats the only minor problem to solve sometime.
Congrats on the new Road king! You had motorcycle experience plus you wisdom to leverage on the decision and taking it slow. I am with you on cycling through motorcycles, I restarted on a 900 and some said it would be to big, however, 9 months later on a Road king. Enjoy your beautiful classic looking Road king and stay safe my friend!
I bought a '04 RK about a month ago. It is the heaviest bike I've owned as well. I love it though I haven't had the chance to ride it much. I took it to the shop a couple of weeks ago to have it checked over, it is a low mileage bike (23,000 miles) but just about due for the 25k mile check. I'm dying to get it back and hitting the road. I'm disabled and have had 8-10 back and neck operations now so mine has the drivers backrest and sissy bar, I've taken the luggage rack off but I love the windshield, I like the looks and function. The previous owner has done some work to it, it has after market exhaust and under glow as well as the LED conversion. I've not ridden at night yet; but, I'm sure that those headlights will work just fine, a must if you ask me. I've been watching the riding tip videos as well, but it is really pretty easy to ride if you ask me. I wish I could afford something a bit newer with more power and a six speed tranny, but I still love it. I'm still waiting on the plate so I can ride it on the toll roads around here in Dallas. I don't have any cameras to create a historical record, it might be nice to do that if I could figure it out and afford the cameras. LOL
@@Wildturkey10121 Enjoy it I agree heavy but easier to ride. The more I go out the more I like it wish I had done it years ago. I left my lights stock for now but see doing this in the future. I have been thinking about a camera as well it would be fun to take some video. Enjoy the bike
@@CageFreeMoto I am, bad news today though. I got it back from the shop got it home parked it for about five minutes to see if the wife wanted to go, left made it a block and it died and wouldn't start again. Finally I got it started but it wouldn't idle. I did get her home and am waiting on a tow truck now. I think the ignition mod is bad. It sucks that it worked fine on the test drive at the shop ran great on the way home then took a dump. I know things like this happen and am not that upset about it, I got a fix at least hahahaha. I've still got money in the budget for this time so better now than later. I only paid $8500 for it, it is old but low miles I expected things like this to happen.
I’m also a reentry rider and just purchased a 2022 RK. MSF class coming and a lot of parking lot rides planned until I’m refamiliarized with the techniques.
AWESOME! Being an educated rider inspires confidence for you the rider and for the people who care about you riding a motorcycle. Take care and ride safe my friend!
Yep, I was on a 7 hour road trip and noticed air coming from underneath up my body and into my helmet. I noticed it goes away if I keep knees closer to the gas tank. I still need to run a phone charger or get a windshield bag too hold a battery pack... the running the charger would be best for the days I decide to remove the windshield.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I couldn't agree more - the RoadKing is a fantastic motorcycle with a lot to offer. It's always a pleasure to hear from fellow enthusiasts who appreciate its qualities. Safe riding, and I hope you have many great adventures on your RoadKing!
I have not. Have you encountered a problem with the speedometer in the past? When I past by speed scanners where they display your speed it seemed accurate. I may take a closer look into this, let me know if you have had an issue. Thanks!
@@CageFreeMoto I have a classic and added hard bags and since I don’t have a front fender light I used that connection inside my fork wiring harness for my usb since they stick the same wire harness in for all the Road kings - hope that helps - cheers
Your thoughts and knowledge on this bike were a gust of fresh air, since you go on stuff like cleaning. I have a question though. I live in Hamburg, Germany, and it rains here on average 1/3 of the year. Now, I am a fan of chrome and the classic look of the Road King, but I want the bike to use it in daily commutes and that means it‘ll get dirty easily with the rain. If I only have time to clean the bike once a week, would you say I should go for a blacked out finish, as in the Road King Special or the Heritage 114 blacked? Thank you in advance!
If it is between the Road King Special or the Heritage 114, I personally would go with the Road King Special. The bigger frame, which is a touring frame is very comfortable. I am a huge fan of the Heritage, but for me the RK is great to ride to work, around town and long trips. Sure, you can do this on the Heritage but I the RK in my humble opinion will be there for you then just to work. For me RK is scalable as a longer Motorcycle to keep for many years. I think with chrome or blacked out you will need to put the same amount of work keeping it clean but the maybe the blacked out would be more forgiving. But I have found that black is something that shows up when dirty. But hey, ride it and enjoy it even if you just wash it once or twice a week. Take care and stay safe!
FWIW, black is just as susceptible to water stains as chrome, if not more. Rainy weather will mostly affect the panniers, the manifolds and the mufflers, but not the fog lamps or the main light. They can be quickly cleaned with a steam cleaner in a minute or two. The really important bit is what you like. What kind of bike do you gravitate to in a showroom? Anything else is irrelevant. Remember, once you have parked the bike and you do not turn around again to look at it with gleaming eyes, you got the wrong bike.
Adria, I own a '21 Heritage Classic. I got caught in a heavy downpour some months back. I rode through it at 60 mph. When I got home, the bike was surprisingly clean. The wide fenders kept most of the muck off the bike. The rain even cleaned the windshield. Ride your RK with confidence!
ENJOYING YOUR VIDEOS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! I USED TO LIVE IN DISCO OFF OF POINT OF TIMBER! (DICKINSON CT. TO BE EXACT) ALSO HAVE DONE A LOT OF CABINETRY,FIRE PLACE MANTELS AND CROWN MOLDING FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS IN THE LAKES OVER THE YEARS ! ANYWAY GONNA BE BUYING A ROAD KING SOON THANKS FOR THE CONTENT ! 0
Nice review .... been following your experience with your RK and it should be helpful- my ordered 2021 RK standard (billiard red, RDRS) just arrived .... just in time for winter lol. Really impressed with the paint and overall fit and finish. Spring can't come soon enough.
Congratulations ! Good choice! Love that billiard red. I have a FB page, would love to see a pic there of you new RK. FB page link in the description. Stay safe my friend :)
Thank you for your comment. I am very happy with the Road King. Regarding the bags' width, I would ask, compared to what standard? I have just completed lane splitting on the freeways of Los Angeles, California, and any wider would pose challenges for lane splitting. Take care and ride safe!
Yes, I would have considered myself a beginner / Intermediate with a long break on a 300 cc bike and went with the RK. Depends of your confidence level I kew it was a leap for me so I progressed slowly in parking lots becoming confident with my skills and progressing. I read a lot watched many slow speed drill videos and then just kept progressing I didnt just hop on and blast down the road. Riding for me is also the fun of mastering new skills and challenging myself to become proficient with boring stuff so Ive had a good experience. The bike is heavy but with balance and mastering the friction zone and braking the worst part is raising it off the stand or god forbid pushing it backwards to turn around. On the road the RK is just pure escape for me no radio no windshield just a pure escape from all of the noise.
Tough to answer without really knowing you. As you may know, the Road King is around the 828 pounds. I re-entered riding on a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic which is around 650 pounds and it helped in building my confidence by getting used to riding, practicing slow speed and on the twisties. When I was getting back into riding I was honestly intimidated by the size and weight of a Harley Davidson touring frame and would not even sit on them when at the dealer. Can you handle the Road King without any problems? I think you may know the answer if you as I did because of where you (and I) was when getting back into riding. I hate to say yes and then you have a motorcycle sitting in the garage because you were not ready. You can sit on them and maybe test ride one, then it may help your decision. Nothing wrong with getting something like the Vulcan that has decent power with a 900 and some weight to learn on. I hope this helps and hopefully you have friends that ride that can let you sit on their bike or at the least go with you and help you make the best decision that considers your safety and the others you may ride with. Good luck and keep me posted on where you land. Part of safe riding is good road strategy, be strategic on your decision. And be honest with yourself.
Other than the trickle charger, which I use to plug in my Garmin GPS, there isn’t a built-in power source. You can buy USB power plugs from the Harley-Davidson site or Amazon, though I haven’t installed any since my GPS uses the trickle charger. I feel Harley-Davidson should have included a USB port, like on the Softails. It seems like a missed opportunity to save a few bucks, which is disappointing.
Yep, it can get annoying. Just the other day I was riding and could not verify if signals were on or off as my jacket blew up in the wind and blocked my view... LOL. But at least I was warm.
I recently attended demo day rides at a Harley dealership. I realized I like the comfort of the touring bikes . Unfortunately the standard Road King was not available. I rode the RK Special. Wind blasted me and I did not like the bars on the Special (Too straight). I want to know how the standard would compare to the special. Can anyone please give me feedback? I was cramped on the softballs. I am 602/250 lbs. I think I would like the Road king standard. I want to believe I would like it because I like the look. Thank you!
I also loved the RK special, however, I think people that do not know HD bikes, they would look at both motorcycles and think they are both very different motorcycles. One has a more sportier look and the other more of a laid back look. With the RK Standard we get more, like a windshield which I think after a while, if your riding on the special you may want/need one. The RK Standard has 3 front lights (wish they came with LEDs) which provides more visibility for the rider and drivers -I just rode at night with all 3 LEDs on and great visibility. The RK special, from what I understand, does come with one LED headlight, which is good and one light because of the sportier look. I selected the RK standard because of what I just mentioned along with a bigger seat and foot boards for a rider. So from the dealer, other than making it my own, it was ready for highway touring. If someone is only going on short trips or weekend rides then the RK special may be a better choice with the aggressive sportier look. By the way, my dealer did not have the RK standard either, however, they ordered it and got it for me. If your decision is based on what is on-hand at the dealer, then you know you can order it and request the color you want. For my order, it tool like 2 months, not sure how much it would take today. But I have heard not too long. Either way you go, you have a good problem, picking form these 2 motorcycles. It depends on your riding needs now and what you want to do in 1 or 2 years down the road. Hope this helps!
I have to agree with you on the LED lights. It would be nice to have brighter lights. But to Need a usb port? The only reason to need that is emergency If you need your phone and you have to charge it. I have a 2012 road king and I bought a usb that hooks up to my batterie and I ran it so it goes in my bag. I have had it for a year and have not needed it yet. But it is a piece of mind in case I need it. I love the Road King because of the classic look and feel. For me I could not ride having all the bells and whistles I love the sounds around me and getting lost having the radio going or GPS is to much of a distraction for me. I have always been about getting lost and the Road King is great for just taking off for a day or 2 I can't wait to go buy another one.
I may do the same for where I would get a bag on the windshield with a power bank to charge phone when and if needed. The only reason I wanted one installed is because I go on long rides and would like to use my phone GPS. And also for long trips like my ride this summer from California to the East coast and back... needed to keep phone charged up. But I may just get a motorcycle GPS for really long trips. But getting lost on the Road King is also great and just to ride and forget about all our worries is very therapeutic... aka wind therapy. Stay tay safe!
Struggling. As a young lad (21) it is really tough deciding if I prefer a liberating lifestyle where I can buy shit like this without someone nagging or do I prefer settling down
You have your whole life ahead of you. Enjoy life while you can because life goes so fast and along the way you will find the people that have similar interests you. Take care my friend and enjoy life ;)
Agreed. My guess is that people love to make their Harley (or other motorcycles) their own, so, leave it as a platform to do your spin on it. However, they charge enough for this platform and agree, to bad Harley does not include LEDs for the safety of the riders who selected their brand. Take care and keep your eyes down the road. ;)
Yep, not for everyone and should not be done by anyone who is not comfortable or disagrees with it.... and of course if not legal in your area. Here in California it is legal and common to see motorcycles doing it. I have a video on lane splitting here in California and you can also see cars making room for motorcycles to pass. We as riders need to be hyper aware as traffic changes quickly and not all drivers are courteous or just do not pay attention. Some times I do not feel like lane splitting and sit in traffic but sometimes I feel like getting away from all the cars and be ahead in the clear from the traffic. To each their own. Take care and stay safe!
I got a vulcan 900 now. Had a road glide for a few weeks. Difference is night & day. After riding the rg & gettin bk on the vulcan i felt like i was on a toy. You cant compare acceleration. N now with the bogging problem on my vulcan im goin to hd dealership. I cant wait to have some decent acceleration some decent top end.
Loved my Vulcan and it was great and feel fortunate that it was my re-entry motorcycle. Agree that there is no comparison against the HD touring and the Vulcan as they are night and day. And serve two entirely purposes depending on where you are in your riding journey and or what your needs are. That said, I have been very happy with the Road King. Congrats on moving over to an HD and you will enjoy that acceleration and especially that low end torque. Take care and stay safe!

@cvh mplsmn lol didn’t even noticed it autocorrect to AMC. Guess my IPad thought I was talking about a movie company instead of a bowling company.

I bought this motorcycle yesterday. I'm over the moon with how it rides, just a fantastic experience! Thanks for your content.
Thanks for your kind words! Congratulations! The Road King is a good around town with no fairing to blocking the beautiful views. Plus a touring frame that just makes it so comfortable for those long rides! Stay safe out there!
I absolutely love my 21 road king. Best comfortable and powerful combo bike I’ve ever rode. Frickin sweet
Totally agree with you :)
Good review, however I chose the king because it didn't have led lights and no usb. Keeps it classic looking. Just my humble opinion.
Fair enough! I have been thinking to just not mount my phone on my handlebars and just listen to directions via bluetooth... just need a good headset for the helmet.
Just bought a 21 street glide, love the halogen headlight, has a warmth to it that leds just can’t match, and I think it’s bright enough at night
Nice bike, I just hot a '19 King with less than 2,000 mile , so it's new to me and my 3nd King. I love the King!
Very nice!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the vid. I also bought a 2021 Road King and I am loving this bike! The best motorcycle I have ever owned. Ride safe my friend and enjoy!
Right on! Stay safe out there :)
A beautiful bike. Nice honest review. No fuel gauge? Cruise control? is it a Milwaukee 8 or 107?
It is a 2021 Road King with a 107 M8, cruise control? Yes. Thanks for watching!
A year with the Road King I and I am very happy with it. Good to hear from you and others that the RK is the best they have had. Thanks for sharing!
Nice bike I recently started to ride I’m 57 I’ve been riding for a year I recently got me a 2012 heritage and I love it God bless you stay safe
Right on!
Definitely will be looking into installing a USB port :)
Take care and stay safe!
I also want to get into adventure riding but need to find a way to do it while holding onto the Road King :)
Stay safe!
@@gcprost I will check out the Royal Enfield Himalayan, thanks!
I have ridden a Road King for several years and love my bike. You can purchase a small USB Charger that connects to the battery tender cable. I bought mine at Cycle Gear and it works fine.
Thanks I will look for it!
I have a 21 road king and have a ride back rest and its a game changer - if are going to do more longer trips consider one
I love the classic headlights
Totally agree! That is one of the things I love about the Road King.
Do they make LED lights for the front and the back of this bike? btw thanks for the video!
Yes they do! How do I know? I have an LED video for the head-lights and passing lamps and just purchased for the front and rear signals including the rear red break light. I will create a video with all the LED lights and links. They just have not all arrived yet... stay tuned :)
Stay safe and keep your eyes down the road ;)
@@CageFreeMoto awesome, let me
Know and i like to check it out. Thanks
Great video man. Hey I’m a daily rider . How would the road king be as a daily commute all year round? Cheers
@@CageFreeMoto Cheers for the reply , I’m a rain hail or shine rider .. everyday. Sounds like it would be fine.
I like the old classic style of the Road King
Totally agree! How could HD cancel it… hmmm. Maybe a mid year 120 version, we shall see.
Great review video. Looks awesome and very eager to get one myself.👍
You will not regret it! Stay safe out there!
I'm 5"10 and change the stock windshield to LRS 18" windshield to my 2021 Road King. I prefer to look over the windshield.
I am happy with the windshield. I can look over it also and can understand how looking through it could get annoying especially with glares or rain. That said, my videos may show a view through the windshield, however, my camera is mounted at my chin level.
I cut mine down with jigsaw and painters tape
You would not believe it mate, but my last bike was a the Vulcan Custom VN900 and I upgraded to the Road King Special 2020. We on the same parallel path my friend
How are you liking the Road King? Interesting to find others that are on a similar path. Stay safe my friend!
Take care!
@@CageFreeMoto Hi I like to switch to LED lights, do you have a video on it? parts numbers? ect? thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching! Too far no music, just ear plugs and the road... very therapeutic.
I have this bike stock as a rock! Perfect...... I lust for nothing else
Engine and exhaust is all stock and loving it... I added a few things like the 4 point docking station, back-rest and luggage rack and things like that. But that 107 is great!
A great review, the RK is definitely my favourite bike, I’m looking forward to road trips that you’re going to do.
You and me both! Looking forward to sharing them :)
@@Wildturkey10121 Sounds like you are really excited to ride the new to you RK. Congrats and enjoy!
The Road King is a great bike
Agree with you... 100%!!!
I've had three of them.Best bike HD makes imo.
Nice! This is my first and would love to hear any advice from you in this and other videos.
Appreciate you!

AWESOME! Being an educated rider inspires confidence for you the rider and for the people who care about you riding a motorcycle. Take care and ride safe my friend!
any buffering from underneath on highway ? did you run phone charger to head light or to battery under seat ?
Yep, I was on a 7 hour road trip and noticed air coming from underneath up my body and into my helmet. I noticed it goes away if I keep knees closer to the gas tank.
I still need to run a phone charger or get a windshield bag too hold a battery pack... the running the charger would be best for the days I decide to remove the windshield.
@@CageFreeMoto awesome info! thanks! maybe canvas lowers for the crash bars for longer trips to stop the buffering ?
Good idea! I will try that on a longer trip (:

@@CageFreeMoto Thanks brother. I just picked up a 2019 RK Standard two days ago. Ride safe!
Have you ever checked the accuracy of the speedometer at a true 60MPH?
I have not. Have you encountered a problem with the speedometer in the past? When I past by speed scanners where they display your speed it seemed accurate. I may take a closer look into this, let me know if you have had an issue. Thanks!
Hell yea good review !!! I agree with all u said cause I love my roadking and I did install leds and a usb up front lol
For the price of a RK it should come with LEDs and USB. I look forward to adding both these in the near future.
@@CageFreeMoto I appreciate the time to answer. I am upgrading from a Virago 535 so it will be a major change either way!
Keep me posted (:
Man! That bike is really cool!
Thank you sir!

Gorgeous bike, but the bags are too narrow.
Thank you for your comment. I am very happy with the Road King. Regarding the bags' width, I would ask, compared to what standard? I have just completed lane splitting on the freeways of Los Angeles, California, and any wider would pose challenges for lane splitting. Take care and ride safe!
Really enjoyed your video, great narration and filming. Mahalo
Glad you enjoyed it
Would like to see a video about your gear, seats, jackets, boots, pants, etc.
ok, that's a great idea!
I consider myself an intermediate rider, can such a person handle the king without problems?
@@K31011 thank you
Tough to answer without really knowing you.
Thanks for the great review, this bike is great due to not having a bunch of electronic gadgets to go bad 🥇
Very true! Thanks for watching! Stay safe!
Long live the King!
The throne shall never be empty!!
Love your videos brother
Happy you like them!
Is there a power outlet anywhere on this bike?
Other than the trickle charger, which I use to plug in my Garmin GPS, there isn’t a built-in power source. You can buy USB power plugs from the Harley-Davidson site or Amazon, though I haven’t installed any since my GPS uses the trickle charger. I feel Harley-Davidson should have included a USB port, like on the Softails. It seems like a missed opportunity to save a few bucks, which is disappointing.
Love the video! Like you I am riding a Vulcan 900 and hope to upgrade to the RK soon (if we can keep our jobs with the mandate going on now).
Right on! Know you will get the RK and let me know when you do. The Vulcan 900 is a very good bike but you will love the RK.
I had a RoadKing one of the things I hated about it was having to look down to view the Speedo
@@CageFreeMoto Thank you very much for your detailed response. I appreciate it
I have to agree with you on the LED lights.

Too bad Harley doesn't include LED lighting.
Agreed. My guess is that people love to make their Harley (or other motorcycles) their own, so, leave it as a platform to do your spin on it. However, they charge enough for this platform and agree, to bad Harley does not include LEDs for the safety of the riders who selected their brand.
Take care and keep your eyes down the road. ;)

Lane splitting is the DUMB.
Get the rider back rest
That is on my to do list :)
