My husband is like Zeb - he knows how to do just about anything and if not, he figures it out. He has less time so we hire people to help but I'm so grateful for these examples of wonderful, strong men :)
I've said it before, I'll say it again... I LOVE THESE VIDEOS! Been watching you for so long Jami, and then Zeb came home & I loved the videos even more. This channel is my all time favorite, and I just can't get enough of it. I also have a big garden & have been canning like a mad woman not to waste my hard work & Gods bountiful gifts he has given us. Keep up the good work, and God Bless all of you! Love you guy's! ❤❤
I love your videos, you two are so much fun to watch and both of you are so inspiring! I love all of your videos and I can’t get enough, you two are perfect together and I love getting inspiration from both of you! Thank you so much all of your videos make me smile and bring me happiness!! 😊
It is always a pleasure to watch these weekly routine videos. You two are so inspiring! It was so endearing to hear Zeb talk about the garden and how important it is to make sure it is honored. It is sort of a reminder to appreciate what we have. Thank you for that.
We planted apple and pear trees 25 years ago, when we purchased our farm property. We've never gotten a harvest from them, until this year. One pear tree and one apple tree was LOADED with fruit, and to my surprise, most had no but damage, like we saw in the past, on the little fruit that survived the Spring storms in Ohio, that blow off the flowers, or the strong wind storms cause the fruit to fall, and groundhogs and deer ate it. (They didn't mind the heavy bug damage! With the cost of organic fruit so high, I experienced extreme joy and happiness, that God provided us with beautiful Bartlett pears and apples to .and into products our 4 grown children's families would enjoy! That usually means adding hot peppers to pear chutney or apple or pear jam. For our grandkids, it means regular pear or apple jam/jelly, for their PB&J sandwiches!
Love this video, looking forward to all of them, I'm excited about the cottage, I love fixing up places like that because it doesnt take forever ,,,,,,,,,, I'll have to look back and see if any more videos , warm wishes LILLE MARIE,,,,,, up here in British Columbia, Canada 😊
You forgot to vent for 10 minutes before putting the jiggler on! I canned veggie soup today. I got an electric pressure canner for my birthday, but found out they take a looooong time to cool down because of the insulation, which means the food keeps cooking. So I’m not sure about it yet. I used my regular pressure canner today. When the apples are 1”, thin them down to 1 apple per bunch. Leave the biggest one, it’s called the king blossom or apple. I don’t have a freeze dryer, but I have heard it is the best thing to use for drying herbs, they taste like fresh. I made a batch of pesto earlier this summer, I used a small cookie scoop and froze them on a cookie sheet. I need to get out there and pick more and make it again. That bread looks yummy! I’ve never used mammut, I should get some and try it out. I’ve heard it’s really hard and not every grain mill can grind it. I have a new grain mill coming soon! I made bread today, too. We’re doing all the things together! Jami, you look so cute in that shirt!
@@BecomingAGreenStalkerIts not the time that’s the problem with the canner cooling down, it’s that it’s continuing to cook the food, so if you’re canning green beans, they may be mush by the time you get them out. We’ll see. It is slightly more convenient.
@@JamiRayVintage Yeah, it has to vent a strong stream of steam for 10 minutes before you put the jiggler on. It’s because there could be pockets of air in there that wouldn’t be as hot as the steam, so the food might not get as hot as the gauge says it is.
Great garden guys u need to take the lower leaves off the tomatoes to let the sun get to the fruit it won’t hurt the plant and it allows the air around the plants x happy gardening guys x
What a great team you are! The amazing gifts in your garden to keep your family fed and healthy, beautiful gifts from God ❤ I am a carb girl, lived on a baguette and hunk of cheese in France because I was broke last part of our tour in high school LOL
I enjoy these videos so much. We truly want to move and when we do it will be someplace we have more land, out of the city, we are in the city now. The goal is a Ray garden and some chickens!
Gotta say I love EVERYTHING about this channel!!! ❤ You guys do so many things I am always amazed by all the different areas you conquer with humor & love! Jami, you looked so cute when Zeb was doing the cracks at the end of the video.. and Zeb..how did you learn all those cooking skills? Did your mom teach you before you left home( or did Jami?) I swear I could smell that bread Jami made..yummy 😋 Thanks for all you guys do.. that cottage is going to be darling! Good luck with all the rest of your preserving before the cold sets in! PS.. isn't basil just the best scent?!🌿 I haven't had pesto in awhile but keep basil growing as long as I can each year.
I’ve never thought about canning beans….My husband eats a ton of Cranberry Beans, and this is such a good simple idea. I don’t like buying beans in metal cans…so this is a great option….Thanks for the tip🌺👍
Such a shame to have not used garlic cloves in the pesto it makes such a difference. What a fantastic harvest of basil. I make my pesto without the cheese in small batches and keep in the fridge to use every day. I keep it in a jar covered in olive oil and add the cheese if necessary when I use it, it’s great on pizza with goat cheese! I always heard never to salt beans as it turns the into bullets, that’s just the French way, let me know how they turn out please. Thank you both you live and learn ! You are both so talented and nothing is above or beyond you. Lovely home and family.
You can prune a lot of branches off your tomatoes when they are flowering so the plant can focus on the fruit. It will also keep them less crazy and allows more light to get to the fruit as well. Amazing garden though❤
If you can dry the basil still on the stem. Then you could just hold the stems and crunch the leaves up with your hands over a tray and it's ready to put into jars. I don't have a dehydrator, but when I hang dry my basil that's how I process it. I need some Italian food now! 🍝🍕😀
Yes, it’s been a store house for the church tithes, (mostly grains and dry goods) and a primary room for the children and it’s been a home for a young couple during the Great Depression, a sewing room and eventually the previous owners used it as a home for GG.
Is it possible that Zeb give a Demonstration of your Blender I have a Ninja and want to get a different blender but not sure on what 1 to get between a Vitamix or Blendtec...Thanks
What if you put the brick randomly and stucco around it like an old world tuscan home. Like havung the brick peak out. anything you both do will look wonderful. Cant wait to see what you do!.
Hey I meant to tell you on your other video that like two years ago I accidentally grew ginormous zucchini’s and my friend said Oh those won’t be good but I used them in zucchini bread and it was amazing!
I love canning bean soup, i just have a presto pressure canner cause i have a glass top stove, all American is to ecspensive for me..but nice canner..garden looks good
Just wondering -- haven't heard about y'all using Stevia or Monk Fruit as natural sweeteners in lieu of honey, coconut sugar, etc. Just wondering why? No worries, just curious. Love this new channel!!!!!
Jami don't just paint the cottage. I know brick siding it's expensive but you should bite the bullet now otherwise you will regret later. Painting it it will make it look just so and so not amazing. Your inspiration picture that you surveyed a couple days ago had brick on the exterior walls all the way up to the roof. Do that at least to the front of the house. If not, it won't look dreamy like you want.
Love seeing all the progress in your garden and on the cottage. Pesto is one of my absolute favorites and I just recently made some from the abundance of my neighbor’s garden. I just froze it in little jars. Lots of work, but so worth it. I also have some little pumpkins coming up in my pumpkin patch. Hopefully the deer and the groundhog won’t finish them off!
You guys are amazing all that you do
You two have so much energy!
I love how you demonstrate the ability to create a healthy life, Thank You

I had my gas meter moved from the front to the side of a relatively large house. It didn't cost too much. Possibly your gas company would allow it

If you have a salad spinner, you should use it to spin your washed herbs, before dehydrating them.
Was the cottage the original storehouse? Beautiful garden!

Hello! I recommend sun seeds in the pesto, they are way cheaper and still very good!

Do you need 2 fire exits? Or will a window big enough to get out count as one? Just wondering.
Just one because it’s essentially all one room but the window will be big enough for egress.
Put a little cinnamon in your peach jam and it’s amazing. I love canning peaches with honey too.
Jeb black and tan is classy
Where the gas meter is you could build tall planter and put fake topiaries in them
I like that. Probably not this year before winter but definitely goals to get that moved next spring
😊👍👋
Add a window box to the front
I saw something on TV today where they did stucco and scored it to look like brick! Maybe that would work for your wall🙂
Is that another sweet dog at the end of the video? I thought there were 2 doodle type dogs, but that one looks more like a chihuahua…?
They’re shaved down right now. Rex is a doodle and Cody is a mini Schnoodle that looks like a mini Doberman when he isn’t all fluffy.

Nope. It all burned off. I’m gonna rotate her on half of it next year and see if we can irrigate it.
