To me, Manboy is a wasted villain and feels like he should have been introduced in episode one. He's ont exactly like the Rwody Rough Boys in how they are complete opposites of the girls, but he is a contrast to them; a kid who is supposed to be ROUGH and TOUGH. It would have been better if they had played up the fact that he was a child rather than making him sound like an adult. I mea, keep the super beard but make him a kid 100% for the complete outlandishness of it. And if they wanted to play off him being a kid, you know what would have been an awesome turn? Show Manboy's father out to be like this 50 foot lumberjack who comes in to stop the battle. He asks Manboy what he's doing and Manboy replies that he's only trying to be as much of a man as HE is. Manboy's father then tells him there is more to being a man than being rough and pushing people around and from those words, both Manboy AND Buttercup see that they're been too violent to people outside of the fight. As a final quip, Manboy's father comments that having an awesome beard is of course a plus and Manboy and father go off.....while father tramples people in his wake due to being so freaking huge.
Yes, he would have been much better having a childish personality rather than an adult one! Plus it would have more of an effect because it shows how foolish he is as a kid, and allows the opportunity to grow from his ignorance if given the right amount of treatment. That would have made for a much better episode.
Shadow Streak Seriously, all the episodes that I have seen thus far seem built on good ideas or good ideas from older episodes but they don't do anything with them. =\
Yes and in the world where the girls fight monsters and all sorts of other silly bad guys, another bad guy their age (like Princess and the RRBs) would actually be fun, especially if the kid in question is trying so hard to be a man but like the girls would go back to being a kid, which in the end he ultimately is. I seriously don't know anymore. The crew on here feels like they were more concerned with pushing some sort of agenda rather than enjoying themselves. In the end, it irks me because they have a job that many people can only dream of having and yet they squander it by being as lazy and as creatively bankrupt as possible, on top of being rather rude to new and old fans.
+negavenom so far the only villain I think they got close with is Him. Sure he only shows up for like 30 seconds in Tiara Trouble, but he still causes havoc in that time
@@potterpusheenandcompany9811 Good episodes for each classic villain Him: Blistersweet symphony Mojo Jojo: Halloween ppg EP with morbucks as ogre Gang green gang: Nuthin too Princess morbucks: Oct father felt bad when she had to give up all her power tho also she was funny in aliver that one Halloween episode she was in where she was an ogre was good Ok half the villians don't even get
Man that Zen Buttercup episode was my favorite in the original. I love it so much. It astounds me how they just keep reusing concepts from the original. Like they claimed they were going to show the girls in NEW situations and NEW ideas for a new generation and they just make parodies of old episodes and ruin original concepts. It's so embarassing
2:35 So you're telling me that the creators of the show just went on Google for images of the Desert rather than draw the desert themselves, Wow that is the definition of lazy
This is like the smallest nitpick but I miss the little cameos of Dexter from dexter's laboratory when animators or whoever thought it would be funny to put him in a crowd or just randomly be there. Considering this was a hippie zen-fest, i honestly hoped someone would be smart enough to make the joke of adding in mandark's parents since they're basically hippies. weird ones.
+Shadow Streak it would have also been fitting that dexter is mentioned in the episode blossom is excited to see a famous scientist. ugh the lack of cameos just makes it lack the charm the original has in general.
Here are two more problems with the episode is: 1: Is what she learned. It wasn't anything useful to her situation. She didn't need to learn "float like a butterfly sting like a bee" or how to be super clam. She needed to learn to channel her anger on her opponent and keeping it under control and to not needlessly damage people and things around her. 2: She used what she learned to beat Manboy, which wasn't the problem, she beat him fine the first time. The problem was that Buttercups anger got the better of her, and because of that, she disregarded everything else but what she was mad at. But again she wasn't taught how to fix that, so they had to end it somehow. I felt like even more nothing happened in this episode because of that.
wow im loving your reviews marthoning them all now. forgot how good original series is, having knee reconstruction surgery tomorrow, going to rewatch the entire series while healing cant wait. thank you for giving me something to look forward to beside agonizing pain. Think youll get popular fast you have great flo, timing, editing looking forward to see you grow.
Wait, the original did something like this before...but I can't seem to remember...*cough* *cough* Rowdyruff Boys *cough* Which reminds me....WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY!!! THEY WERE MY FAVORITE VILLAINS!! I'm sad now... ;-;
What happened at the end of the episode. 2016 Buttercup has anger management problems. What is wrong with you reboot writers? I bet 2016 Butch (if there will ever be a 2016 Rowdyruff Boys) will act like HIM, but executed in the worst way possible and hate everybody in Townsville. That's only my guess.
Can you review the show, "Clearance?" I believe it's one of the most unappreciated cartoons currently airing and I would really enjoy hearing your insight on the show. Thanks!
weird thing, Man boy is literally the only thing I liked about this series. I don't know, I just thought he was hilarious and that the rest of this episode didn't bother me didn't bother me
They should just used the RowdyRuff Boys Even tougth I don't like the reboot very much, let's see if it can improve (even if it's just a little) on S2, and hope that the RRB and Sedusa come back
I do not like that episode either because Buttercup goes right back to her perpetually-angry ways. However, she did not disregard her lessons in the exact same episode, so it is a lot better than Man Up.
I don't see why Manboy is exactly the worst villain to raise, Shadow Streak's eye bow on. I mean when you look back to that Justice Friends crossover from the original Powerpuff Girls the main villain from that episode could be presented as a stereotype as well; since he not only shows the stereotype of masculinity in his design, but also demonstrates it with his misogyny. Which by comparison is far more worse than Manboy's views on masculinity, since he basically does it to show off and completely underestimates the Powerpuff Girls. A wasted villain he maybe, but if given another chance...I think Manboy could be an interesting character cause he certainly seems that way.

To me, he feels more like a Strawman of Conservative values.
So many episodes are Buttercup focused that I wonder if she is the true protagonist of the series.
Joe Segal true
Like Rainbow Dash, she’s popular because she’s the least feminine of the main cast, so boys can like her without being embarrassed.
All of the new villains in this show are bland as all hell. Why don't they just use the classic villains?
even the villains from the original show are neutered to the point where they're as threatening as angry chihuahuas.
+negavenom so far the only villain I think they got close with is Him. Sure he only shows up for like 30 seconds in Tiara Trouble, but he still causes havoc in that time
Shadow Streak can't argue with that.
At least they aren’t bringing a lot of classic villains in and ruining them

the new villains are just obstacles with little development
"I just hope they never do anything with villain every again"......and then the episode Man Up 2: Still Maning comes lol!
Smh the best part is I wrote that line two days before that episode title was revealed
I just hope they bring back the Rowdyruff boys.
+Renegade4Life PowerpuffBoy me 2, but I'm worried about CN changing them
+Renegade4Life PowerpuffBoy and lets hope that they don't water em down and half-ass them....😒
+Renegade4Life PowerpuffBoy they are in ep 40
Yes, the scene with Buttercup curving around the beard does bother me. A lot.
Best sentence ever.
0:30
I think it takes seeing fuzzy lumkins crippled in a wheelchair before buttercup will ever meditate.
P.S. did anyone else notice Blossom's shoes disappearing and then reappearing at 1:28?
I always thought Manboy looks like a midget version of Manly Dan, Wendy's dad from Gravity Falls.
Yeah, except Dan wasn't insecure, and was way more awesome.
reminds me of turtle temper but Raphael control his temper at the end
And the villain was much cooler as well.

Haha yeah I used to love seeing stuff like that! I never realized how fitting that would have been

ugh the lack of cameos just makes it lack the charm the original has in general.
My most hated villain in this show.
Anyone else remember when Buttercup knocked out Bubble's tooth? Anyone?
Okay, well. It was on accident.
Blossom: ice breath
understand
Buttercup: elastic (a power that one has that the other two don't, 2:46)
"Man Up" AKA most 80's movies personified.

Thank you! I hope your surgery goes well, you've picked a great show to marathon while you wait ;)
Shadow Streak thanks a lot. Missed a lot of episodes when watched as a kid so im looking forward to seeing ones i haven't seen yet.
Man Up: Inner Peace, the others have subtitles, why not this one?
Wait, the original did something like this before...but I can't seem to remember...*cough* *cough* Rowdyruff Boys *cough*

This is just makes zen to me from the original
All the new villains are either rip offs of the old ones and 3rd wave feminist ideas
133 subs pretty quick. You have a lot of potential. I'll keep watching! Cheers!
Thank you! I still can't believe it
Buttercup has hurt Bubbles before like in the tooth epsiode. I hated it then too since Bubbles is my fav.
i agree 300 percent. this is such a meh one dimensional episode.
Can you at least give Maurice LaMarche a little teeny tiny bit of credit for doing the voice of Man Boy?
Veston Bruno You mean Robot Devil?
Omg Man Boy is voiced by Brain from Pinky and the Brain?! Now I'm never gonna stop hearing the Brain in Manboy
What happened at the end of the episode.

Isn't that just... lazy animation?
Do you mean the sudden jumpcut? That was my own doing to skip past some clips that take place in between
I mean, the background, they literaly take it from Google Images
this is
pretty offending
because, well,
im
im hindu
i meditate
im kind of zen
BUT WHY? WHY DID THIS HAVE TO BE IN A PPG 2016 EPISODE?
So when's the inevitable Manboy vs Sedusa episode?
Bahahaha if there's one thing I want this series to do it's that omg xD
Or manboy vs femme fatale lol
man boy is "please like just like you like SU tumbr" the villain
on 0:58 The reason its called princess buttercup Is because morbucks replaces buttercup!! also she was never called princess in that episode anyway!!!
What Jay Said: I just hope they never do anything with this villain ever again.
What The Writers Heard: I just hope the show uses this villain again.
twinsister27 the last thing we need is another sexiest episode from a reboot (TTG already did it) and now PPG
I actually like the idea of a villain with the powers of a manly man. It just came across so poorly in this show.
How funny considering that we have never seen Buttercup have anger like this before.
I guess she inherited from Frank Murphy
Can you review the show, "Clearance?"
I believe it's one of the most unappreciated cartoons currently airing and I would really enjoy hearing your insight on the show.
Thanks!
I'll put that on my list! It may take some time, but I hope to get to it!
Shadow Streak
Thanks so much!
If you speed up the video, his voice sounds like the voice you hear at the end of a commercial for drugs, listing the side effects off
What's with Buttercup's Alfalfa cowlick???
TOMBOYS! CHARACTER DESIGN!
Yeah.....what little they could do to apply some 'new designs'.
wow, this was already a year ago...
I thought this episode was alright, it was just lacking, and Man Boy is a pretty bad villain.
weird thing, Man boy is literally the only thing I liked about this series. I don't know, I just thought he was hilarious and that the rest of this episode didn't bother me didn't bother me

I think blossom had trapped bc with her bow like berserk (if u know who she is)
Man Boy reminds me of that El Tigre character that had a crush on the blue haired girl.
the blue-haired girl's name is Rita!😃
*Frida
Troll Breaker damn, I was close though! XD
Did they call the powerpunk girls
at the end you should say the review is saved thanks to........ shadow strike
I mean shadow stream X)
Haha I totally would if I had the voice for it.
Are there ANY positive episodes in season 1? Judging so that I may watch season 2...
I promise you, it gets better. This show goes through a very rough start, but it will get there
Shadow Streak Haha, I guess I'll give season 2 a fair chance, then.
+UnBR0k3enAngel I can recommend Once Upon a Townsville for now. It's an episode I personally liked believe it or not
Shadow Streak I'll give it a look, then!
1:38
but... my element is air
i dont have much fire or water
What was that classic episode with buttercup and the monk called?
Makes Zen to Me, it was Season 6 Episode 2 to be precise
I do not like that episode either because Buttercup goes right back to her perpetually-angry ways. However, she did not disregard her lessons in the exact same episode, so it is a lot better than Man Up.
Maybe the reason Buttercup lost it is because Brute possessed her...no wait what am I saying the writers are too stupid to ass something that cool in
Toxic masculinity. Also why was she triggered by “Princess” ? Why does that bothers her ?
I can draw the power puff girls
worse than Elagro? hope i spelled his name right.
now I'm hungry for steak
you should review part 2
in time ;)
Shadow Streak thank you
i find part 2 a ton better than part 1.
Omg please tell me this is a joke and he's not actually serious
Mah,girl power...pandering.
0:37 he is definitly a man

But that was to showcase how toxic masculine is bad😅 Manboy is just really boring lumberjack
