Another reason Singapore makes a lot of sense because it's the best "neutral" venue in Asia. It's a multiracial country of which Chinese and Indians are among the major locally-born races, and it also has significant groups of first-generation immigrant Chinese and Indian nationals. (I'm a Singaporean)
As an Indian working in Singapore for last 10 years, I totally agree with above!
8:30 the title quote
Thank you for the timestamp
Thank you pal
This was fantastic!!! Great combination, great interviewer
Chennai would have been too much of distraction for Gukesh. A lot extra VVIPs trying to get photoshoots and wishing him good luck for their own ends. This is good. Chess is not like other sports where home advantage matters. All you need is good food and similar environment. Singapore weather will be nicer for Guku.
Gukesh defense has improved a lot over classical format in the last year and especially under time scramble. These experiences would help him in WC match..❤
Garry excellent chess player I salute decent chess player Garry
Conclusion: The game is mostly the engine!
Love the natural phone call at 10:44, but the interview is very interesting in the Garry is so much less sure of the lines than he used to be, which is wise, but also sad for his fanatics that want more dogmatism.
its like godfather speaking
Will be the best for the victor
Garry's voice sounds like Vito Corleone's
This is quite a telling remark: "But let's see if Ding shows up,... " Doubts being expressed publicly even though at least $1m in prize money is at stake.
This is despite Ding clearly stating in an interview that he will definitely defend the title. At this point, this is just pure slander on Christians part. Left a bad taste.
@@hisdudeness690so you didn’t actually watch the interview. Cristian said nothing of sorts, Garry made that remark.
If you want to play gct your games have to pass garrys scrutiny
Immigrant tamils living there it is the reason why they choose singapore 😅
no correlation with ethnicity, singapore is a top class city with a very strong chess culture
@@abhi739 I wouldn't say we have a "very strong chess culture", maybe xiangqi (Chinese chess) but definitely not international chess
Ding said he’s looking forward to defend; what a poor attitude by Gary.
