I appreciate their music from this Era of the band so much more than their current sound. I realize that, as a fan, we need to keep an open mind to the new directions that artists are looking to express their given art form and we shouldn't expect them to pigeon hole themselves into a particular style, but...Their newer music is so much darker and harder to listen to IMO. The music they made during this period was so much lighter, positive and easier to listen to despite the darker and moody undertones that ran throughout it. Whereas, their newer stuff is all dark emotions and depressing subject matter that makes for more difficult listening.
