- Candi graced our Behind The Vinyl studios to tell us a little bit more about their song "Dancing Under A Latin Moon". The song opened a pile of doors for the band and when it came to shooting the video, the special effects came from a special kind of dust...
The kids in Candi's class probably don't realise how truly lucky they are for having a gifted pop star as their teacher. If she was my teacher, she'd be my favorite teacher.
She teaches at my school, I’ve never had her but was told she’s really sweet, I saw her all the time in the halls. Gonna be honest tho i knew some of the music but didn’t put it together it was her

Loved her music. Came out mid way through high school for me, so it reminds me of those fun, carefree days before adulthood and responsibilities came a knocking!
She's so likeable and wholesome. A rare gem.
Candi came to the club at I was DJing in Toronto in 1988 to do promotion. She was just the nicest, kindest person ever. I really enjoyed talking to her.

This album REALLY needs to be on iTunes. I can't see any good reason for its absence. It's a strong pop album, and "Love makes no promises" is too good a ballad to slip into obscurity the way it has...

Candi played at our Church Festa in Toronto...just before they made it big. Still sweet/loved her songs!!
Worked with these people briefly when they first started. Absolutely the most shy decent people you could ever meet...just REAL people...it was like okay we've done this, it great but let's be normal people.. she is equally as talented as any major act of time...Holly Woods from Toronto laid her ground work...thank you for posting...she is so humble I bet her students would never even know her talent...

Candi doesn't need a best of CD because almost ALL of her songs are good. She only released two albums, so just buy both of them.
@@thuydoan7496 I do have both. And love them. Was hoping for a greatest, just because. And she also has extended versions, and remixes. And surely there must be a few songs she recorded for the albums, that did not make the album. Surprised none of her singles came with an unreleased B- side. Wilson Phillips only released 2 albums, and then there was a Greatest Hits released.
Candi is the Canadian version of Madonna. Unlike Madonna however, is that Candi's lyrics are decent and filled with the innocence of true Love, NOT skanky and full of oneself like Madonna's. It's too bad for us that Candi only released 2 albums in her singing career. Such a talented singer.

My favourite version of 'Dancing Under a Latin Moon' by Candi (& the Backbeat) is in Spanish. Very nice for a young ITALIAN-Canadian singer.

Became a fan recently, truly wish the artists including (Candi) would make more of a point to speak/emphasize about production and inside the studio engineering, seeing we are speaking of her musical career and the vinyl, music videos and creation can or could come later, maybe an after thought

I have this album. It is one of the few albums that I still keep. Almost every song in this album is a gem. At first, I thought my favorite song was "Under Your Spell", but as I listened thoroughly to all of her songs, my favorite song is actually "Dance with Me". The synthesizer coupled along with Candi's voice is amazing. Everytime I listen to this song, it gives me goose bumps all over. It's so good. I just wished that this song had a music video with her dancing along with two muscular male hip hop dancers in the background.

It’s so sad that they all disbanded at the top of their game. Candita was nominated best new female vocal artist only losing to Celine Dion!
No one could have beaten Celine Dion even if they tried. Along with her amazing voice, her husband helped promote her to be the best singer.
@@thuydoan7496 We’re talking Celine Dion back in 1991 when she was still a nobody. Of COURSE throughout the 90’s her career flourished, but back then she was just another talent and Candita certainly carried a competitive beat at the time.
Not sure why she's being compared to Madonna. She doesn't sound anything like Madonna and stylistically, the music is also very different. She does, however, sound very much like Debbie Gibson. Debbie did write and produce most of her music so she had a bit of an edge there but in terms of style, the two are very comparable.

When I heard Under Your Spell in 1988, I thought it was Madonna. It was as good as anything Madonna ever produced.
Except Madonna's lyrics were skanky and full of oneself. Unlike Candi's which are decent and filled with the innocence of true Love.

@@tur74d56 Let me ask you why Madonna is still not married ? It's because she's a skank. Nobody wanna marry her now, even Guy Ritchie, had to leave her. The younger generation don't want to listen to her music because it is full of skanky lyrics. They would rather listen to Kpop which talks about true love and respecting each other. The western way of life has deteriorated, due to skanky music from past artists like Madonna. Her music did not justify anything about respect and true love, all it is about is sex and feminism. Look where it's got her and her followers, No Where. She's still lonely and miserable. She ended screwing up her face in the process too. Music is supposed to uplift and help motivate you to become a better person, not make others feel miserable. In the end, Candi's music is still better than Madonna's skanky garbage.
