Ok. Lawrence, hello from 2021 lol. Steven Crowder sent me. I am a child of the 70's and as a desert dwelling American have not had the pleasure of your music before. Dude! We know Rush ( and a million other Canadian bands) but I was robbed by not knowing you you. Thank you for making great music: We all grow from such as this. You planted a crop that came to fruition in the USA in 2021. Be proud. you made an impact friend! Scotts be proud!
My sister and I went up to Toronto to Ontario Place to see Gowan play, there was a horrible storm that hit us that day, so the concert was cancelled, but Gowan came out on stage and said if everyone came back on a certain date, he would play for us, without having to buy tickets again. So thats what we did and it was one of the most awesome concerts I have ever been to! He was just Fantastic! He gave us his all at that concert and even played another hour after the applause. Larry is AWESOME!
I had the pleasure of seeing Larry, in the very late 80's.. at the (now gone) 86 street music hall, in Vancouver BC.. been a fan from the beginning.. also saw him about 10 years ago, with Styx... when a classical pianist goes rock and roll.. THIS is what happens... Blessed Be, Larry. Rock On.
i was going to school for musical theatre in 2010 in toronto. they got us to sing backround for him on this song and criminal mind at a event. my mom flipped out she was a gowan fangirl growing up LOL
Tony Levin's bass playing just takes over the song in the outro...best part of a great song! Listening to it on head phones over the internet does not do it justice
Saw Gowan at Ontario Place too many years ago, and became a big fan of his musicianship. I love the fact that he has been able to blend into Styx, one of my favourite bands!
A critically underrated song that flew under, at least to me, musics radar. I may have heard it before, but, after Nope the movie, I have been obsessed with this song. Love it!
Looks just as good as he did back in high school up on the Neil McNeil stage surrounded by keyboards. He had a bit more hair back then, but we all did ;-) Great video and loved the story!
I love these stories of the songs they are incredible just think how things have to align in the stars for all these guys to get together and make beautiful music like this how cool is recording and hanging with Ringo like it is nothing special :-)
What a gift this little video is. I came to Gowan's music in the early '80's through my adoration of what Levin and Marotta (and the Fairlight) had done on Gabriel's Security album, so it's such a joy to see Lawrence explain that connection with such animation and sincere appreciation. What a good guy.
I doubt that Larry remembers this, but he played at the Misty Moon in Halifax, NS around the time this album broke. There was a tavern in the basement level run by the same owners and one of them brought Larry to our table there before he appeared on stage upstairs. Larry had a beer or two with us, was very friendly and great to talk with, just a really good guy. He invited us upstairs to watch his set and we followed him through the kitchen and up the stairs to the club. I'll always remember that and recall him fondly because he was so down to earth and such a great guy.
Stumbled across Gowan making a video for All The Lovers In The World in Gage Park, Hamilton, Ontario. He was so nice to everyone between takes. He's perfect for Styx (seen him twice with them).
Live on stage in London Ontario so many times & the pyramids video still takes me away This Janet Thanks you Here`s to the awesome choices and resonances of your shared memories Reiki Master J
I saw them at Ontario Place, We where on our Grade 8 school trip, we live 12 hours away up north, we get there not knowing they where there playing we are walking around then we hear his voice, music playing......"Wait we know that voice....." this is the days that when you heard a song on the radio for the first time you had to hurry and write the name down right away to remember, go to the store and buy it, or wait till it came back on, or it played on TV, you heard, saw the video and had to wait again to see if it will come back on if you did not use the VCR to record it. So we realize what's going on, I was there and sit there and told my friends I'm staying here and I'm not doing anything else, lol Till this day I do not know what else was at Ontario place........
If you took the voice of Rob Lowe and combined it with the voice of Casey Kasem and added in a touch of Michael J. Fox, I think you'd end up with something like Gowan's voice.
This was a nice interview, but I was hoping he'd expound upon the inspiration for the song. I'd read it had something to do with Hermann Hesse's writing.
Saw Gowan many years ago and always Great to see a Canadian icon
Great state of the art song indeed!

So great. We were just talking about Gowan today. His sound is so unique. I love it.

What I'd give for one more night at 86 Street.
I’ve never heard a song broke down like that before so much to unpacked..thank you for sharing this story with us.
Well he created it

I realized after about a decade of liking Larry’s music that I liked Larry’s music because I like Larry.
I like Larry too! ❤
Saw him at expo 86 in Vancouver. Such a great talent. Canadian treasure.
1984 seams to be a significant year
Saw Gowan at Ontario Place too many years ago, and became a big fan of his musicianship. I love the fact that he has been able to blend into Styx, one of my favourite bands!
Love this Behind The Vinyl segments on Boom 97.3!
Larry Gowen!! The best and a legend!!💖
LOUDER WITH CROWDER YALL !!!!!
A critically underrated song that flew under, at least to me, musics radar. I may have heard it before, but, after Nope the movie, I have been obsessed with this song. Love it!
Nice to see Lawrence holding together so well. Been a fan since I was quite young :)
What a cool chilled out and humble dude. Now i can enjoy his music even more
What an incredibly humble and great guy!
He seems like a neat guy. It's interesting to hear what went into the track. Thanks for the video!
Saw Gowan at Niagara Falls arena, fantastic show.Fabulous artist, beautiful Canadian plus I know your keyboardist Peter Nunn.
I remember seeing you Larry playing a hotel in Welland (Barclay) in a band called Rheingold. You had a set about a time maker or something like that.
Looks just as good as he did back in high school up on the Neil McNeil stage surrounded by keyboards. He had a bit more hair back then, but we all did ;-)
Great video and loved the story!
I just heard this song for the first time on someone youtube channel. Great song.
Along with his solo career, he's also with Styx.
This might be the best one of these.
I love these stories of the songs they are incredible just think how things have to align in the stars for all these guys to get together and make beautiful music like this how cool is recording and hanging with Ringo like it is nothing special :-)

Love his voice. It's so high when he sings, but not when he speaks.
Stumbled across Gowan making a video for All The Lovers In The World in Gage Park, Hamilton, Ontario. He was so nice to everyone between takes. He's perfect for Styx (seen him twice with them).
Guys…you’re gonna want more cowbell!
Have enjoyed his music since the 80s and still to this day this song is in my Playlist. Simply amazing 🙂
lol ever uddered More Cowbell indeed. One of my favourite songs and video. Miss your music
Crowder!
Eres un animal extraño, increíble tema
Lawrence Gowan is part of me, no doubt about it.
He did not get the fame extraordinaire he rightly deserves.
Memories…
Live on stage in London Ontario so many times & the pyramids video still takes me away This Janet Thanks you Here`s to the awesome choices and resonances of your shared memories Reiki Master J
Yes music with magic 🎯
This song is incredible
Wow, that was great✌️
What a great story about the song!
Saw his one man show, really great.
It's good to see him 'manspreading' and keepin' it real. This song keeps those memories alive. Keep rockin' Larry!

Larry Rocks, he uses a turntable beautifully~
"More cowbell!"
Love the album altogether. I think Criminal Mind is one of the best 80’s songs of all time.
I got tickets to see him in April! can't wait!! I hope Gowan's hair grows back longer and loss the color hair!
Stephen Crowder!!!!!!
This was awesome!
Loved it then and still lol More cow bells
What a Scholar! What a Gentleman! Give a man a cigar!
What a great story.
If you took the voice of Rob Lowe and combined it with the voice of Casey Kasem and added in a touch of Michael J. Fox, I think you'd end up with something like Gowan's voice.
SNL needs to do a new cow bell sketch
👍👍👍👍
Love Gowan! Anyone know what model #of those speakers?
Tony Levin was an awesome bassist
What a polite guy !
Yea was recorded at Tittenhurst Park, and then got renamed to "Startling Studios"!
That was in Berskshire. Ringo should of never of sold it.
Love ❤❤❤❤❤
Do Cosmetics!
This was a nice interview, but I was hoping he'd expound upon the inspiration for the song.
I'd read it had something to do with Hermann Hesse's writing.
I just got to have more cow bell. lol
His speaking voice sounds a lot like Jim Cuddy.
They're both Toronto boys from the mid-50's, so that makes sense.
Christopher Walken stole that cowbell thing from Ringo.
and Ringo stole that cowbell thing from this song :D
whats with the subtitles? must be that crazy canadian accent eh?
You have subtitles turned on.
Is it just me or does Gowan look and sound like Michael J. Fox?
not shakey enough.
Its As if marty mcfly stayed playing the guitar in the past
It’s a good thing Christopher Walken wasn’t there. “more cow bell.” 😉
Should be our next prime minister. You can call him Larry.
That haircut is bitchin'!
A lot better than the one he was rocking in the 80s.
Looking healthy. Makes me want to get thin.
