Wonderful! Has it really been 40 years? I remember getting together with my friends to smoke up and listen to the new Talking Heads album as soon as we got our hands on it! Hanging on every note... The Eno is very strong on this album.
YEP.....hard to believe 40 years.........this song features Tina's two sisters as back-up singers - the sisters called themselves the Sweetbreaths then......this song was basically the beginning of the Tom Tom Club
@@rebjiii I knew Tina’s sisters sang backup on this track, and performed on theTom Tom Club album, but had no idea they had named themselves The Sweetbreaths. Fascinating, thank you.
Air by Talking Heads & Pets by Porno for Pyro's are my 2 favorite pandemic songs. Happy new year. Good riddance to 2021.....2020 was was a brutal year. The feckless Biden regime found ways to make 2021 even worse. Let's go Brandon!!
Not bad considering Tina is playing a cheapie Fender Musicmaster student bass. Love the heart shaped tuners on this version. Ibanez used them on the Blazer bass in the late 70’s
@@andyronayne7947 I always thought it was the Mustang, you're correct. I think those are tapewounds maybe LaBellas she's using, I'm told the pickups are literally Strats.
I don't know about "Pets," or which side of the fence you are on but I interpret the lyrics of "Air" as the perspective of a hypochondriac or germaphobe. I've read David Byrne has shown symptoms of autism and even schizophrenia, both conditions known for (but not necessarily defined by) irrational thoughts, attitudes, and fears. I guess from that angle, I agree
"Once in a Lifetime" has always been my favorite Talking Heads song. Since I really started listening this song however, I'm absolutely in doubt about my favorite. I think it's such a masterpiece.
Played Fear of Music loads back in the day and, like all great music, the songs still sound as good as they ever did. Love the solo at the end of this great song.
Thank you Nacho for another great video. I hadn't heard this song in a long time and had forgotten how great it was. It's pretty cool that you actually talked to Chris Frantz to confirm details about its recording. Thanks again, I love your channel.
Excellent video indeed. Loved The Heads at the time of this album. Yes, huge Eno influence. They were magnificent live. I love the album title Fear of Music. At least one hidden message in there.

A very brilliant re-edit of the TH South Bank Show's bits and bobs into an excellent video for "Air". Tacking on the "Fear of Music" radio ad at the end was especially inspired. As for the South Bank doc, it really is a great way to get to know the band at that time, and see glimpses into what they would become. I also noticed how Warholian DB's conversational style was, almost a studied banality with a hint of folksie charm.
