    Thank you for this!
    I've been wracking my brain for ideas to keep the kids busy this summer, and one of them mentioned wanting mini golf today (and, of course, everything is closed down here for the foreseeable future)...
    This will be a great project for that little guy and his sibs :)

      Unless it's just for the sake of being fancy, I think 2x4s should do well. Some of the boards that are in high traffic areas may need replacement periodically but they should still be adequate.

      We are actually looking into doing the same , so if you find any tips pass them on!! We were really hoping to take over a small one in town (it's been closed for a couple years) but the owner doesnt want to sell it so we are now looking for a decent piece of commercial land

      That's part of why I'm here actually. About a week or two ago I realized how awful the choices have gotten in this city so I started looking things up and this is the first video I saw.
      I've actually been looking for free plywood to see what I can make. I found a place giving away those "cornhole board" style things but it's too far away. I was gonna go with pallets since those are free all over the place and usually just as sturdy.

      Wood prices here in michigan are insanely high right now, so it would be pretty expensive. If the price goes back down i'd say you could buy everything for ~100$.

    Any idea of an estimate of what this might cost?

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  5 месяцев назад

      Conservative estimate:150$. 2 20$ rolls of carpet, 10 2x4's (5-6$ each), 4 sheets of plywood (15$ each). But you can do much cheaper if you spend some time shopping around or being creative. Swap out 2x4's with bricks (whcih you can find on fb marketplace for free), find used shop carpet or those showroom carpet squares for next to nothing, you don't need the plywood if you have a flat surface to build on.

    What type of turf grass roll is it

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  3 года назад

      I got this foss grasslands turf from menards (it was44cents per sq foot). I’ve experimented with other turf styles from Home Depot and I haven’t had any problems with any of them so I would go with whatever’s the cheapest. For my 18 hole course I went to menards and they had a brand that was actually for putting greens and it worked out really well (best of all it came in 4ft width, which works perfect for my 4x8ft plywood)

    What if i want to use my backyard and the many fruit trees as my backdrop and the course. What if I dont want to make something on top of the ground, but I want the ground to be the pathway? What then? I don't want to add grass everywhere. I have a roto-tiller, I could mulch the ground and maybe smooth it out and pack it tight somehow?

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  3 года назад

      I would look up diy bocce ball courts. They should show you how to flatten the ground and smooth it out. A mini golf course through the fruit trees sounds beautiful!

    • @marcushennings9513
      @marcushennings9513 Год назад

      I had fruit trees in my yard once and was constantly bothered by the fruit flies, mice and birds that wanted the fruit and picking up half rotted fruit.. which would bother your guest and put stains your course.. js

    • @alessandromachi1010
      @alessandromachi1010 Год назад

      @@marcushennings9513 The fruit flies are from the unpicked up fruit, so it's kind of a two for one if the ground can be kept clear. During the summer the leaves are health and growing, and on the trees. Maybe the fall could have a Halloween theme and the leaves are par for the course so to speak.

    How much did it cost?

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  4 года назад +1

      It's kind of hard to tell because this setup was built using stuff i already had, but if you take out the plywood i would say the total cost is about 20$. The 2x4's and putting green are really cheap. i have a video coming out on friday that's just like this one, but it has 18 different holes. I used OSB instead of plywood and that cut the costss in half

    • @bryanmartin8336
      @bryanmartin8336 4 года назад

      A roll of 6x8 outdoor carpet is $22 at Lowes and $30 at Home Depot. Rather than try to estimate measurements on corner pieces, I'll just focus on materials for the straightaway: The easiest way to make one of those is to cut a 4x8 sheet of wood in half and run it end to end, then line it with 2x4s. Meaning you'd need nine 8' 2x4s (roughly $5 apiece) if you're using them for the base, the frame, and the end. A 4x8 sheet of plywood is about $50, but I'd use MDF and shave off $20. So if you're buying all of the parts for it you're looking at around $100. Plus any tools or fasteners you don't have. Still very cheap for a fun project though!

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  4 года назад

      @@bryanmartin8336 You are probably right, the more you put into it the better it will turn out. I buy almost all the random things you see in my videos at auctions, so i end up paying a lot less. FYI The 18 hole course video is coming out this thursday (it took a lot longer to edit then my normal videos)

    Says he made 6 holes at ten minutes per whole, proceeds to show hours of work on just one hole and not have any other holes in sight

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  4 года назад +2

      What i meant was...it took me an hour to get the initial hole setup (most of the time was for cutting the carpet and jig sawing the hole). Then afterwards i made 6 different hole combinations (swapping obstacles and adding the L part) which only took a couple minutes each. I could make 6 seperate holes, but then i wouldn't be able to fit them in my shed when i am not using them and it would be a lot of up keep to have a private mini golf course that only i would probably use. Mainly made this to show that you could build a basic setup and easily swap obstacles to give yourself an 18 hole course in as small of a space as an garage (since most people don't have big backyards like me). During easter break i am going to shoot a video of us doing 18 different holes, it will still be one hole at a time (like in this video), but i will try and make the holes more complex and fun. If that video gets a decent amount of views, i promise to build a course with 18 seperate holes, so stay tuned.

    • @NothingToDoCrew
      @NothingToDoCrew  4 года назад

      Follow up note..I made an 18 hole video (swapping obstacles and layouts in between) and that only took a couple hours to build/play/film. Once you have the holes cut out of the plywood, the rest of the building only takes minutes
