- The Enchufa comes from the Cuban Salsa or Salsa Cubana and is without a doubt one of the most executed turns on the island of Cuba.
Where dancers in LA (Los Angeles Style) Salsa or NY (New York Style) Salsa dance more in line, the Cubans dance more in circles.
Within the Salsaventura 6 Turn Pattern System the Enchufa also belongs to the Salsa Beginners 3. This makes sence because the turn takes place on the right side of the leader.
Instead of turning the lady to her right like in the Reversed Cross Body Turn, with the Enchufa the lady is turned to the left side.
Ladies:
Make sure that you step back with your left leg AFTER the turn. Lots of ladies have the tendency to step back with both legs, first with the left and then also with the right leg. This is because most women learn the Cross Body Inside turn first. And with the Cross Body Inside turn the lady also turns left but learns to step back with her RIGHT leg!
Men:
Be sure to initiate the turn on count 2 after you step back on 1. Also be sure to push her away from you at count 1.

i've just recently finished on1 salsa level 3 and to be honest his 6 turn system and 7 holding hands system.....has saved me on the dance. Floor........I am more of a street Salsa dancer and my habits are not gonna go away because i dance to the music. But i can say ....the Enchufa is one of my favorites
as always excellent instruction i watched ten other vidoes on this and men's footwork was not clear until you explained thank you

What a nice turn. I will try it the next time I practice. The shaping reminds me of a turn East Coast swing, where the partners exchange places but I'm not sure if that it is the correct way to think about it.

Keep the arms bend at all times and give tension when needed.
Step back? Shouldn't that be called an 'open break'??
Hi, yes correct. I am from Holland and the 'open break' is term that is not often used in Holland. Since we have a lot of Dutch viewers I somethings like to use English words translated from Dutch. In our courses you will here me say 'open break' as well.
