Ok. This is genius. Combine this with the ways of holding hands and you get not only fillers for socials, but it makes it even easier to learn new sequences (this turn with that hand position). Lighbulb moment video.

As a lead, this is the exact information I’ve been asking salsa/dance instructors to give me for years (to no avail). Fantastic video. Gives me six starting points (steps) to master before learning their variations. Bravo.

It is in their interest not to make it simple. Unless they are losing repeat customers. But any teacher who doest nail the basics is not worth the time. Get the basics, take inspiration from great dancers and create your own routines.

this is so helpful....and what he described about remembering all your turns it's true. I freeze on the dance floor when i am dancing with a girl because i trying to remember what moves to do and if she knows it. I end up looking like a one trick pony with my basic turn....before i watched this video.....i actually started using the Enchufa or open break as they call it and it's such a helpful turn because i know how to do it. I am taking Salsa lessons and to be honest it focuses more on the moves than on the footwork itself. I have seen guys doing many turns on the dance floor that have nothing to do with the rhythm of the song. Us Latino people dance with the rhythm of the song. Thank you for your helpful video...god bless you

Incredible video! I feel like I've found a kindred spirit. I break down Lindy Hop (aka Swing Dancing) the same way that you break down Salsa. With 3 Variables (Who turns, Direction of turn, and Where the turn happens) to play around with in a Basic Swing-out means exactly 100 Variations. It's an amazing way to teach! Bravo! I can't wait to see your hand-holds video. You count 7, I count 8. My guess is that you don't count hands-free. Oh and I love that you also include Hand Elevation (over head, shoulder and waist high). I can't wait to watch your other videos.

    0:12 Intro + Advice
    4:00 The System - Examples
    *THE SYSTEM:* (5:30) :
    1. Single Right Turn (5:50)
    2. Single Left Turn
    3. Inside Cross Body Turn (6:20)
    4. Outside Cross Body Turn (6:48)
    5️. Enchufla (7:30)
6️. Reverse Cross Body Turn (8:10)
    -------
**I like this SIMPLE salsa system! I also created a salsa system
    that include more steps
    -------
👆 can't agree with you more!
: _As a leader focusing on the
follower's turns and not on your own_

This video literally turned what I was seeing as graduate level calculus into basic math in terms of understanding the majority of salsa dancing. It looks so complex but it's so easy once you simplify it like you did in this video! Thank you so much! I can't wait to practice and become comfortable w/ social salsa dancing.

Great instruction. I'm a beginner (lead), I don't know yet how to give the follower the hand or body language signals with push, pull, stop, to indicate which way the next turn will be. At 5:53 there are 4 different pushes/pulls of the lead's left hand. How does the follow know what the lead eventually intends? I try to give signals by hand positions but my partner and I end up stopping our movement and she's looking at me confused. I've also seen leads leading the follow into turns with some muscle. I thought I could give subtle hand pushes/pulls/tosses to indicate how the next turn will go but it's leaving the follow confused.

I'm curious why you don't include inside turns that pass on the right side turning on 5,6,7? It seems the more natural choice as it relates to the same forward breaking basic used in all the other figures. I teach very similar with that exception. I teach back breaking figures all together as well, such as you see in Cumbia and Casino.

I especially appreciate the info about why it is that my mind becomes totally blank at the dance!! And this is how my brain works also...realizing that we are only doing a few essential moves, rather than getting caught up in so many details that of course go out the window when the girl is in front of me! I'll check out your other offerings.

Barely anyone does any Cuban styles! Shame such a shame as I've done both and find I get less strain injuries with cuban styles - naturally moving around eachother instead of a forced un-natural line lol
But honestly why is it always crossbody style everywhere?

    • @aldoarchundiahernandez3414
      @aldoarchundiahernandez3414 5 лет назад

Not really , this technique is the result of the mix of different dances, mainly cuban casino , son and rumba. This are the roots of the "line salsa", but as a mix , evolved into it's own technique , adding west coast swing , latín hustle , Lindy hop... You name it.
The technique is organic if you have a good lead / follow. It depends on the dancer...
In the other hand cuban salsa ( i love it too), is the root , very complex on it's simplicity. It'd take years to dance it as a cuban does. But true... You won't find good tutorials here... Go and subscribe to a class , lol.

@@aldoarchundiahernandez3414 I'm yet to come across a x-body salsa dancer that can feel the flow of a cuban style dance - spoiler alert - many can't! I've done x-body and casino/ rueda and son for years..and from experience i think x-body feels too robotic lol

That 's a very good video, it' s very rare.
However, turns 4 and 6 look the same to me, since I look at lady's step. (prep on 3, pulse on 5).
Or do I miss something? (apart from the guy' s back step)
Now you add the Copa and the spiral turn (travelling turn on 2 and 3) and you get the 90 percent.

yep he is so right , a few moves in different sequences that are done well with passion, expression right timing and footwork (flow) is by far better tons of moves poorly done . lead to the dance ability of the lady you are dancing with so they have fun , and want to come back the next time .

I literally said to a private instructor that I was trying out (as she was giving me another questionnaire) "I want to have fun! Let's dance, enough questions!"

Back spot turn does not seem to be covered by these 6 turns. If you agree, now you have a 7 turn system :). May be your 6 turns are only for women. Back spot turn is for man :)

Hi, well to tell you... I have also a 6 Turn Pattern System #2 including the copa's, reversed copa's and 4 others ;-). What you see in this video that you saw I only cover the 80% of what most dancers do on the dancefloor.

I purchased access to a series of videos from Salsaventura. But they have never given me access, nor have they replied to any of my emails. It's a pity that they should engage in fraud, since their videos seem nice.

Thank you so much. I am an older dancer, I don't have as many active brain cells as when I was younger, so, this video makes efficient use of what I have left. This may even make my brain create new connections.

As someone who learns from the cubans, are these crossbody moves and turns that the teacher shows here usable when dancing cuban style? I dance mostly with cuban style dancers so, would they understand the impulses?

Hey I was watching your video on my Xbox and loved it. However, when I tried finding your video again on my phone under the search salsa tutorials it did not come up. I had to remember the specific name of this video in order to find your channel. Not sure what that was about, but I thought how much of a shame it would be if anyone searching for a tutorial to not see yours because I thought it was the best one out. It might just be me or maybe not, but love the video.
