I'm pretty sure this was a few years before the Africa incident. Phil is deliberately making his voice break here. In the studio recording he also does it once.
last part: Farewell to the gangsters we don't need them anymore We've got the police force, they're the ones who break the law He's got a gun and he's a hater He shoots first, he shoots later I am the masculine American man I kill therefore I am
wow!!! a new video! I think his voice was already destroyed by what's happened to him in Africa, still I love evrything bout Phil. I got all his records, all the video in youtube. Just 2 days ago I found on youtube Neil Young singin "Changes" (last summer Farm Aid Concert) and he says 'bout Phil that he was one of the greatest folksingers of the '60s.....I wish to share my thoughts with the other 49 Phil Ochs fans...Is there a fan group or something like that? sorry for my bad english! Ciao!
super close minded. there can be vapid and thought provoking music in any genre and implying that rap is all stupid/has no meaning is usually rooted in racism.
Popular music always becomes an industry. It always gets co-opted. It happened to folk. It happened to rap. It happens to all things that become popular in our society because popularity turns people and things into commodities. As a huge fan of both Ochs and hip hop/rap I feel like I offer a unique perspective. If you're looking for conscious, metaphorical, and well-written lyrics I would suggest a few artists such as Aesop Rock, Sole, Sage Francis, Dose One, Deca, Rob Sonic, and Homeboy Sandman to name a few.

Thanks for this, rare to see such raw footage of Phil
Thank you very much.. It is very important for me :-))
An overlooked Phil Ochs song, and Phil still looks pretty good -- I'm guessing 1971?
Thank you very much.. This is so priceless ! And receiving comments from the great Jim Glover ( I remember Jim & Jean ) makes it so much better.
Spectacular! And I've been looking for a live video of I Kill Therefore I Am too!
Awesome!
Thank you so much for this
thank you Diana for your reply about the date!
Not to worry! I'm a fan of your channel in fact, you have a lot of good stuff there.
wow
Be nice to find the same clips without the graphics.
how the hell did you find this?!
Where was this recorded ?
Great deskiption of the deepstate ecesses throug thogh decades in US
How the hell did we go from thought provoking music like this to rap music?
sylvester quast rap can still be thought provoking. Listen to Kendrick Lamar
sylvester quast this is exactly the sort of sentiment I think Phil would hate.
