- Three of Phil Ochs's nonpolitical masterpieces, "You Can't Get Stoned Enough", "Just One o' Those Days" and "How Long", from Broadside magazine vaults. Chords can be found on ddpro.ucoz.com/pochords/.
I thought they were already on RUclips but in fact they're not. So here I'm sharing them with you. This is from a WHYY broadcast in 1986 (not 1966, sorry!) for the 10th anniversary of Phil's death.
I did my own cover of "You Can't Get Stoned Enough" I hope it's not bad: • You Can't Get Stoned E...

I have always been madly in love with Phil Ochs 💙. Love me, I'm a Liberal 🎵 🎵🎵
Phil was one of the greats: voice And words.
Thank you. Will always listen to Mr. Ochs.
damn he had a lot more songs that he never got to record.
Undoubtably the greatest musical and poetic artist to have walked this earth.
Thank you for the Upload and cover of the song.
Seems like he's just getting his career started. Phil is timeless
Ah what a find! Fantastic!
Thanks for giving us this amazing treasure ,why do so many of the greats have to leave us so soon?
I've been looking for the original version of you can't get stoned enough forever !!!!! Thank you!
"Just One Of Those Days" could have easily been a hit, imagine it sung by the rooftop singers with 12 string guitars in the early 60s..
Or The Beatles (that is, this is before Ochs and perhaps almost americans knew them. For it sounds very like them.)
@@Eduardo-Ferreira1982 wrong! I lived through the Early Beatles and disliked them until Sgt.Pepper was released. Phil was very different

@Doug R. Hello, Doug, thanks for your message. What I was trying to say is that the rhythm sounds like early r'n'b. Not sure if Phile knew them at this point. But I understand whatyou said: despite the Beatlemania in US, Americans reacted very differently. I remember Grace Slick saying something that I want to hold your hand was for pussies. Yeah, american music has other, heavy, weight. And artistic works as Sargent pepper's has other quality and or other kind of appreciations. :)
What do you mean with Phil being very different? Or your liking to Phil was very different?
@@Eduardo-Ferreira1982 must beg to defer a good reply until some time (days? Weeks?) later.
@@dougr.2398 Take your time, my friend. Since Beatles were being released since February, though on independent labels, I guess Phil could have met their music after the Ed Sullivan show. Or similar musical evolution process was being made on both sides of the Atlantic... Who knows?
Again appreciate your web page with the lyrics. I am a big Phil Ochs fan and have started to learn some of his songs.
Thanks brother
Amazing! Thank you for your great work getting these up. So many cruel comments, Phil would not approve, surprising these jerks even care about Phil ochs.
Cruel comments from who?
perfect for quarantine
Thank you very much !
Wow thank you so much. I had always wanted to hear the original. It's so sad that he killed himself. What a great songwriter. More heart than anyone. Which Broadside tapes is this from?
Anybody got “Alone” version where you can hear the middle verse?
What?
Boot Leg Are you illiterate? Or slow. Need phil ochs “alone” there is only one practice version on jutube u can’t heat middle verse
What is "alone"? I might be illiterate yes
Boot Leg The title of one if his songs hence the parentheses. It’s super rare. 1 think you’re slow personally can u cook like a southerner?
I don't know of any Phil Ochs song called "alone" web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics.html no such song listed on his official page
