A very professional review! Thank you for this video. I'm planning to get a dynamic USB microphone because my condenser is picking up all the noise it can get in my untreated room lol
I bought a Blue Snowball Ice for my gaming pc years ago, but I think I'm going to move that mic to my office desk for Zoom calls and buy this one for my gaming pc.
I don't know why but the only difference I can hear when you turn the processing on/off is the volume getting louder for the processed one. Otherwise, if I was listening to a random recorded sample in isolation, I'd not know if it was processed or not.
@@Mason-rd4dw I dont think its bad at all, but the power with that rodecasterpro is just amazing for 600 bucks, at the end would probably upgrade to a better mic also.
Nice video, thanks. Question: what settings did you use to process the sound on the RODEcaster Pro? I recently got one to use with my q2u and am still not happy with the results.
My first stand alone microphone was the Audio Technica ATR2100 which is basically the same as the Samson Q2U in terms of handheld/cardioid/dynamic/usb/xlr/headphone jack/headphone volume. From what I understand the Q2U is hotter than the ATR2100. That said these are 'starter mics'; you'll get better quality out of other mics such as the SE Electronics DCM6 ($150).
So you are telling me, the reason I don't use this mic is the usb mode? It's too quiet for my videos, I literarily have to be super close to it and then it takes half of the space on screen which is unacceptable for video tutorials. Will RØDECaster Duo do the trick? Or I need Pro for sound processing?
Whenever I hear someone use the old cliche "Jack of all Trades" I can be sure that only half of the saying will be quoted and I can then fill in the blanks, and I will do it again because it totally fits. Jack of all Trades, Master of None Is often better then the Master of One. Remember that and buy this microphone.
@@kinzdarell5447 Most of the RUclips er use USB mics in mac or use it with Audio Interface with there is no problem, the problem is using it directly in Windows 10.
I've been using the Q2U in usb mode for over a year now for gaming and discord calls, and I haven't had any issues regarding bugs or compatibility. I just made sure to install the latest firmware updates before I used the mic, and things have been fine ever since. A couple of my friends have switched to the Q2U since then as well and they haven't mentioned any issues either. As for things like audio quality I'm not an expert so I can't say what issues there might be. All I know is this thing is leagues better than the $8 mic and cheap gaming headsets I used to roll with, so I'm happy with it.
Hey! So glad you have purchased this! When I use any microphone I always have processing on with my RodeCaster Pro Mixer amzn.to/2UBBMlQ It improves the audio entirely. Is the noise coming from the headphone jack? Are you using any noise gate?
@@awalldigital Yeah, exactly, when I plug headphones to the mic to use the built in soundcard I hear a pretty high noise floor at not so high volumes. Regarding the sound recorded by the microphone, people tell me they cannot hear this. I wasn't able to test this because I was working without monitoring sound. The rest of the microphone seems to be ok, hence why I was happy with it, but that disparity between what I hear and what people hear completely breaks the point of direct monitoring. Thank you for your answer tho.
@@awalldigital I just checked the soundcard by playing music through it, it worked fine. I just have the mic plugged in my USB port. I will try filtering the noise out but somehow I find the sound when monitoring higher volume than on the recordings. Thanks for your suggestion anyways and I love your videos. I could be coping a c922 too. I wish I could afford the Rodecaster pro. Next step up will be a podmic with a Scarlett 2i2 or something.
I like the SM58 more, but great video! I'm using the rode rodecaster pro so the features you mentioned don't really apply for me. At the moment I'm using the SM7B, which I only plan to use to show off 🤣🤣🤣
Hello. An honest question. I listen to a reconding I did with my Q2U on my headphones load and clear but on the computer speakers is too low (I tried in two different computers). Any ideas? Thank you
@Ankit Verma Yes,if we talk about Xlr microphone then Sennheiser e835 will the better choice but if anyone has not an audio interface then he should go with Samson q2u
I actually liked the untreated USB sound vs. with OBS filters. But on the XLR with the Procaster, it sounded better processed.
Yes!
Because noise filtering always degrades the sound quality. Besides I completely agree.
I agree!
I think it sounds better without the processing LOL

Processing is making it louder (compressor) except that I don't see any real need in processing for youtube use
Wow that processing power from the Rode is Amazing!, i Own this Mic and its great to have.
does it rlly sound that bad without the processing?

I use it in my channel through USB and it’s really amazing for its price

hi please is it usb B to usb A? (i need to know the specific name of the usb output😭)
@The Light you’re welcome

Can you bring the usb signal to a console and the XLR to the PC at the same time?
How many bit it works on? Is it 16??
And how many kHz it work on is it 48khz?
🥰💖💖💖
Thank you for making this video! Your videos are awesome!
which stand are you using for the mic
Wow thank you for your review ❣️
Can you plug it into your iPhone with some type of additional adapter for street interviews?
How would you recommend to set this up with XLR to a Windows PC and using Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones too?
Thank you for the review! Love the Q2U
+Tomislav It’s a solid budget option in my opinion!

How is it with background noise does it cancel it out?
I would like know how the editing works but I also think it is fine as it is without being treated or such
Will this mic work as a sound enhancer? Basically, being able to use it as a presenter in a room to project my voice...
Thank you for this
Hello, it works directly connected to the DSLR camera to record the audio directly to the camera. ??

How does the AT2005usb/XLR compare to this? I in this budget range currently.
where do i find the product model number and serial number for registering online ?
I want to buy Samson Q2U, but I have heard that it doesn't work well in Windows 10. Does it still have issue with Windows 10?
I have the same concern
I watched a vtuber who used it sounds great.

Give me the link of a video if you recorded with Q2U.
Dude, I bought one and it is awesome. The only thing is that in my unit the 3.5mm out has a stupid high noise floor. Is it present in yours?

Processing makes it sound tiny
your processing makes it harsh a little bit! too much compression I think,
I like the before version,
Sounds better, more human without both processing
Perhaps most polished review 👌
What is a good substitute for the rode mixer with this samsung mike ? under $100 and user friendly for the technologically-challenged?
I did not notice any difference between processing and no processing 😅
