Now that is pretty darn neat. Was thinking of an old house we grew up in and how everything had to be torn out by sledge hammer, pick, shovel, and manual labor. Dad would use his best and cheapest manual labor force (us boys). Wish they had that kind of stuff back in the 60s. Very interesting contraption. Thanks for video.
Ha, I like that, Kapper. It definitely builds character and more importantly gives them a darn good reason to wear those callouses on their hands (chuckle). You know, when I think about it, heck.... we never-ever had or wore gloves. Too darn expensive. Heck, who had money to waste on dumb a$$, gloves? LoL Now, every damn finger gets wrapped (guess I'm an ole softy now b/c everything on me hurts now) LoL Hope you and entire family have a fine weekend. Later
Lol, i grew up with my aunt in Nicaragua, 3 brothers 4 cousin. We all all plus 1 builder built that damn house, from filling the hole where it was our lot ( was the cheap and nobody wanted) to the roof. Now I'm a plumber but i would do any kind of job at home. Gracias tia Ines por la ensenanza. And she is like " whatever mijo, i saved a lot with all you boys" 🤣
I guess with all the pressure involved you would need the high-density poly pipe to hold up behind the pipe bursting head. How many tons or psi is the hydraulic ram that forces the bursting head through the old clay pipe and trench? Thanks.
eventually roots will find a way into that pipe any joint can fail later on lateral lining is a great method for keeping roots out one solid pipe no place for roots to sneak in
Roots will never make it into that pipe - that's the point of using that type of pipe. There is no way roots are getting in unless the job was done incorrectly. Where the seam the sections - no way in hell.
Worried I might have possibly an issue like this because of flies in basement and about 8 ft of ancient pipe that leads to Street from 200 year old house. Brand new Charlotte PEX plastic pipe throughout except for a small 8 ft run... No gurgling in toilets no, no smells really, but flies made me think of this.. dirt floor basement and ancient pipe goes into dirt so hard to tell... Keeping an eye on it. Looks like you guys are the experts on this stuff
A lot of cities are replacing their old pipes with this 'pipe bursting system'. I looked at bidding several of these jobs, but 'one established competitor' kept me away....(I had plenty of work anyway). Awesome video, thanks for sharing! ....13
Had the same thing done to my house 5 year's ago but when it came to the hookup to the township connection, the township made the connection, inspected it and signed off on the job
Why the plumbers use the word. Collapsed.? Means the pipe completed collapsed. Or just it's small spots. Where the pipe it's broken. Completed collapsed. It's when the pipe it's flat?
If pipe bursting isnt as really sturdy as replacing entire sewer lines with new pipes and it costs the same seems like the only peo0le benefitting are the plumbers trench team and not the homeowner customers payees..
this is pretty awesome. We're getting that done to our place and to see how it works, wicked cool! Thanks for posting.
Thank you and hope it works out well for you!
How much what state
Better than back in the day, the yard would have had to be dug out and a big mess.
Good idea showing this video Kap. U da man
Thanks man. I'm still wondering how they got the cable Fed thru, lol

Lol, I hear you man! I once had the boys bust up a concrete septic tank with sledgehammers!!

Never seen that done before there is always a way to do the impossible well done guys. Gk Uk 🇬🇧
Thanks Gary! Be well...
I guess you know you rest on the shoulders of the original installation
That's pretty cool system to replace an old pipe!
Yeah pretty amazing
Wow. I pull big wire through conduit but I have never seen this before. That’s awesome.
Yeah, pretty amazing... I'm still wondering how they got the cable Fed thru!
@@kapperoutdoors probably blow a line through to pull it like blowing string in electrical conduit
To Strongs Adv: Can do that in the city, though.

Best of luck I hope things work out for you! This was our plumber that did our home and cabin.
That is ingenious, probably could not clear broken cast-iron???
Is that replacing 4 inch with 38nch?
How many tons of pulling power does that thing have? Awesome!
no idea but it sure has enough! Pretty cool technology for sure thanks.

Thanks man, sorry to hear about the bid! Good thing the gov't bidding system is totally above board........!! I'm thinking you know what I mean..
Yes, that's all I'll say.
i have not done any pipe burst but looks easier than cipp
Pretty cool how they do that.
Yep, very cool thanks.
Looks like a python taking its prey. Amazing tool, thank you for sharing!
That is some serious equipment there....
yeah for sure. Ain't it cool the stuff we think of!
How much was this magic? Total from start to finish. Thanks
I don't know the answer to that. My friend did this project
how much
That looks pretty wonky....will that last?
Well it's an industrial plumbing co, pretty sure they have some idea of what they are doing.
I wonder if they have a similar set-up that can be used on old cast iron pipe instead of clay or orange-burg pipe ?
I'd bet they use the same one..? Was this not cast iron pipe, I don't recall?
@@kapperoutdoors I believe it was a clay pipe of some sort .
Had the same thing done to my house 5 year's ago but when it came to the hookup to the township connection, the township made the connection, inspected it and signed off on the job
I was pretty amazed with this process! Glad it worked out well for you.
Was it expensive
We are having this done to her house right now as I speak, thank God it's only 12 ft
Best of luck with the project if it is not done yet! Nice to have new technology to solve 'old' pipe problems! Take care
I know every job is different, but does anybody know what the typical cost, and also the typical length of time the job to be completed?
About $300 per foot , 8 hours.
Probably much better than having to tear out part of the home to get at it with old school digging practices!?
How can they be certain that the new pipe will have pitch considering the old one was not working properly
The old one was collapsed or plugged so it had nothing to do with the pitch.
@@kapperoutdoors makes sense but I've done pipe relining on sewers and water lines and the inspector asked me the same question about the sewer
@@richardstajic1951 sorry I'm not the plumber here, this was a project one of my friends was on. You could be right I don't know those details. Thanks
@@kapperoutdoors Im a plumber I was interested in getting a pipe bursting system so I was curious thanks
That'll be $94,000.00, sing here.
What was the cost and can u do that to cast iron pipe?
Sorry I don't know that, this was my friend who is the plumber.
Why wouldnt you have moved as much of that dirt away from the mouth than that?
Why the plumbers use the word. Collapsed.? Means the pipe completed collapsed. Or just it's small spots. Where the pipe it's broken. Completed collapsed. It's when the pipe it's flat?
Means small sections are collapsed. Or full of roots.
How did you get the cable through the collapsed pipe to pull the new one through?
I'm not sure, this was from a plumber friend of mine....
Neat

Hi how are you... honestly I'm price checking. How much does a job like this cost??? Thank you!
Couldn't say, this was from my plumber buddy.
For short runs it's better to just have them dig up your yard with a backhoe, etc. For a long run like this, under a porch and stuff, then OK.
Is like direcctional drilling
No it is not.
Ok
Kapper squad no 1
First thing I noticed...lack of Personal Protection Equipment
