My thought is that if you are buying a compression packing cube, it should, umm, compress. So the brands that didn't compress the 4 days of clothes, I would not buy, because it doesn't do the function it was designed and is being sold to do. Why spend the extra money on a compression cube just to use it as a regular packing cube? You can find sturdy regular packing cubes without the extra cost. The BagSmart ones seemed to hit everything you wanted-- mesh, fits 4 days of clothes and compresses kind of surprised that wasn't the winner as it checked all the boxes and none of the others checked all boxes.

Those Peak Design cube have some interesting ideas and I can already see how their functionality could be significantly improved with some fairly minor modifications.

Would be good of you could show how much space you would save by compression. Looks like mostly the corners compress and not the middle. In other words: not much gained?

Good review, thank you. I am always annoyed that the sets of any brand include too many big cubes, not enough smaller cubes. The other thing is that if you are not going to a several days stay at your destination but moving from place to place, it's a lot of effort to redo the compression. I prefer taking less and using regular packing cubes.
