I'm such an outlier from The Offspring's target demographic, but man do these guys get my energy going. I have a lot of respect for their artistry and accomplishments
The Offspring is probably my favorite band, I grew up with them from high school., Smash in my freshman year and then going back and learning their earlier albums before Ixnay on the Hombre lol
@@krissymarklewis1793 Interesting connection to Idle Hands too? Was that something he always dreamed of doing, being in a horror film? Even tho Idle Hands was more of a comedy.
Nice interview! Thanks Dexter for sharing your experiences with your fans. That's what we like you know, to feel that the artist really cares about fans who support their career. Rock on The Offspring! Hope to see you live someday.
Lots of really great questions. Interviews usually ask the same stuff over and over. These questions were really insightful and offered a new spin on the usual press run.
Dont listen to the reviewers on this one. Most are negitive. If u r a offspring fan u will enjoy this. Its a bit different but they make every album unique. Its a very fun album with a lot off throwbacks to mid 90s offspring
I agree but that guitar riff is just like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-Running down a dream. Almost think it was an influence on this song. I don't know but sounds like it lol.
My favorite so far is probably Opioid Diaries. Very old school Ixnay vibes to it. Also digging Breaking these Bones, This is not Utopia and Army of One
Soo good to see Dexter on an interview, actually first time i see him live! I definately like all the songs from the new album! congrats!!! Hope #theoffspring comes to Barcelona for a concert!!! Please please!!!
LET THE BAD TIMES ROLL...IS A CATCHY KILLER SONG WITH AN EPIC POLITICAL STATEMENT!! I HOPE PPL LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE AND WATCH THE VIDEO. ITS A ANTHEM TO WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY. PUNK IS NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK THEIR MINDS. NICE JOB GUYS!
Really great interview. Some challenging and at the same time interesting questions here 👏 Behind the walls just brings that typical offspring simplicity of singing and vibes to me. But the hassan is really fire. I guess all of them songs are cool in someway 🤔 Just wanted more song then 8 new songs on album but, well, it's like Christmas anyway 😂 😂 😂
@@frontrowliveent yep. Me too. I bought the ticket for November. Let’s keep the hopes high. Anyway, fire album I gotta say. Some songsbare neck breakers 😂
Love seeing a new album on the shelf, a bit disappointed in Dexter‘s voice, it seems to lack the clarity and power it used to have...we all get older...
Happy the new album is out. But man, looks like The Offspring really borrowed 'Metallica's clock". I hope the next one does not take this long. We are not getting any younger, lol.
4:40 That's called 'over production' and that's not punk. Your millions of fans came for the punk / punk-rock and stayed when they got it. Not polished albums. In any case, we love you regardless. But bands need to stop over-producing their work. 90s bands were grunge and grit - why did that get lost to Pro Tools compression and polish?
'Let The Bad Times Roll' is out now! What's your favorite track? -rob
Hassan Chop
Hassan Chop
The one greg k help write...
This is not utopia without a doubt!
Behind your walls is amazing
Dexter's such a dude. I miss hearing interviews with him
He seems like a really nice and down to earth guy

I remember the day Americana came out they they played pretty fly for a white guy on mtv like mad I loved it
Best group since i was 15 years old.
Dexter, if u are hearing this we need more songs like the Opioid Diries...best song you have done in years!
and also Dex, give props to your uncle...one of the most underrated horror directors ever!
@@krissymarklewis1793 who is he's uncle?
@@x138x Tom Holland that did Psycho 2, Childs Play, Class of 1984 and Fright Night:)

Hassun chop musically quoted one of their earliest written songs "call it religion" and I think that's fuckin cool.
Great interview!
thank you

They should have stopped before splinter and ruined their discography. Good riddance
The best interview on the new album since I love to hear about the musician stuff being a musician myself. Thanks!
Army of One best track on the album by far... that Dead Kennedys guitar sound is so good.
Ok, I'm glad I'm not crazy! I listened to that song and I was like, this sounds a lot like a certain dead kennedy's song 🤔
I agree but that guitar riff is just like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-Running down a dream. Almost think it was an influence on this song. I don't know but sounds like it lol.
That one is really growing on me. Loving it more and more each time I hear it :)
agreed

My favorite song on the album 'Let The Bad Times Roll' is:
All of them 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
haha love that answer
Be honest. This album is way worse than any of previous.
My favorite track- this is not utopia , behind of walls , army of one , breaking bones , Hassan chop , opioid diaries
Me too. It’s a pitty that the mix is so crappy 😒
Same, those are reminiscent of older Offspring.
Whole album lol.
@@bmd735 yeah mix sounded really bad, dull, jumbled. Poor EQ. Almost no dynamics. Extreme loudness war casualty.
Dexter te amooo
Really cool interview! You did ask very good questions. Dexter seems to be such a cool dude, sort of shy but really fun to hang out with
offspring brings me back of 90s /00s
My band covers Dirty Magic. My favorite era of The Offspring. Just picked up Let The Bad Times Role and I enjoyed it.
Soo good to see Dexter on an interview, actually first time i see him live! I definately like all the songs from the new album! congrats!!! Hope #theoffspring comes to Barcelona for a concert!!! Please please!!!
You should had come to Dublin yesterday, it was fucking amazing!
Great interviewer and questions.
Its so surreal to see him aged and i just watched videos from the 90’s 😩
Everyone ages but no matter what you see on the outside..he still sings like he did 20+ years ago. He's a rarity.
Legends. Booked for Cardiff UK. Can't wait!
New album! Heck yeah!
I hope they tour the uk 🙏🏻
Army Of One.
Great album!
What up?! Dr. Holland!
💗💗💗
This Is my favorite Offspring Album.

I like how Dexter looks younger than and I'm 31.
It that a Moonrise Kingdom pic on your wall?
I don't like the new album but as a singer, listening to dexter's vocals secrets is golden !
Wow how random i was just recently listening to their music alot
Hassan Chop, The Opioid Diaries, Breaking These Bones, This is not Utopia
Love seeing a new album on the shelf, a bit disappointed in Dexter‘s voice, it seems to lack the clarity and power it used to have...we all get older...
I hate to ask but is Rob related to Mike from Mxpx? They look similar.
hahah i used to get that alot too! I call him my “long lost cousin” hahah ruclips.net/video/o7M4FnPI5Go/видео.html
@@frontrowliveent Nice.
This is the Offspring's best album since SMASH. Lots of hooks, melody and fast guitars. This maybe Rock's best album of 2021...
I mean it's good but reallllyyyyy
🤯🤦🏻 C’mon!!!
I love Dexter, but damn!! Dude looks like he hasn't seen the light of day for years.
Dexter here sounds like James mad Hetfield
He wanted to say “germination”. Lol 🤓
I don't think it's their best album but it's far from their worst.
What's your favorite song of the album? My favorite is This Is Not Utopía, greetings from Barcelona, Spain!
Happy the new album is out. But man, looks like The Offspring really borrowed 'Metallica's clock". I hope the next one does not take this long. We are not getting any younger, lol.
Digital effects sounding like real effects .. maybe it’s one of the reasons the album sounds so unbalanced and some songs so bad :(
Dexter looks like he's Glen Becks brother or something haha

In all fairness, it probably took a lot of work to get Smash to sound the way it did.
DEXTER....HOW MANY BURGERS AND BEERS DID YOU HAVE ????? U LOOK LIKE AXL ROSE😂
Don't be ridiculous. Nobody that fat counts burgers and beer.

I had no idea Patton Oswalt was the lead singer of The Offspring.
I love the offspring. A favorite band off mine for years. That being said, this album kinda stinks.
I think they have a lot of really good songs. which songs do you not like?
without Greg and Pete ... offspring lost the core of that raw sound :'(
Hassan chop, this is not utopia
This is not utopia is the best song in my opinion...🎥
what happened to his face?? became a lady 😂😂
Damn, he's gettin' bigger
Same last name - what's the deal? (u sound related like a smart ass brother or ?)
